I never in my life watched a full podcast let alone watch for two hours. But all the information from all four of you guys was so fun to listen to, jokes and all around good vibes. Easily my favorite podcast channel already.

N54 owner here. Truth hurts, Ive dumped so much money into the car on normal and preventative maint and she just runs "ok". Low mileage too on an '09 @ 80k. No codes or anything like that but in comparison to other cars it's such an emotional engine. Almost like it's alive. You look at it wrong and it'll throw a phantom code just to spite you. EDIT - just wanted to add despite the temper tantrums the car has never left me stranded, as far as reliability it's actually been rock solid. Money pit aside lol.

N54 is the godfather of all the new motors people enjoy. It gets so much hate and it’s disrespectful The N54 was so good during its time that it inspired the I6 Twin turbo to be featured in M cars which easily changed the M platform for the best. FBO E85 was SPANKING E92 M3s and it wasn’t close. Upgraded turbos were SPANKING supercharged E92 M3s! N55 was trash and N54 was the baseline platform that spoiled yall new kids with STOCK boosted BMWs. S55, B58, S58 are all great but they wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for the N54! Stock block 700whp in 2007/08 was insane and 5 sec 60-130 was before its time! RESPECT THE GODFATHER OF BMW MOTORS!

TRUTH: AWD is boring AF.. sure it gets out the hole and will beat cars from a dig on the street that it shouldn't, but I am 42, and from the old school feeling of being the better driver.. Stick shift rwd cars 100% take skill to and 100% take practice to master the race.. When you just "buy" your wins.. there is nothing to brag about.. I just don't understand the love of this awd auto world of guys that really can't actually "drive".. I could put my 15yr old daughter in any of those cars and make a quicker pass just due to her being lighter than you.. Y'all can have fun but don't ever call yourselves bad ass racers..

Why do these guys always think they are the first at everything lmao like no one was racing or building BMW's before they came a long. Theres a huge amount of people in Germany, UK, Scandinavia and Eastern Europe that has built turbo BMW's since the 80's that don't put their shit online.

This was the first time I ever heard of Street Alpha, and I was admittedly a bit skeptical at first. And then I actually committed to listening to it for 5 minutes before arriving at some informed opinion (imagine that, giving something or someone a fair chance). And, long story short, i was pleasantly surprised.. intelligent but casual, sufficiently nerdy without drifting into pedantry, and as a bonus, it clearly embraces diversity, and i'm not just talking about import v domestic here. 😆 You've earned a new subscriber today.

Speaking of burnouts in time square, 2fast 2 real / Long Island extreme dvd was the first time i saw that back in 05ish. They actually have 3 movies posted featuring NYC street racing in the early 00s. I wonder if any of those guys are still active? Keep up the great work!

I'm just confused as to why when BMW Ms are brought up... S55, S58.... All the visitors talk about is the performance of these cars in a straight line drag race..... and 60-130 times... Maybe to most of yall it sounds cool or interesting... But most M owners are just laughing like why the fuck do I really care about my 60-130 times while I'm at Sebring..... b58 who.... lmfao... like what? What M340i am I worried about at Sebring.... or b58 car.... Just such a funny convo to have..... "the dct in the M has a one second delay" who tf buys a F80 or F82 and stresses their DCT's ability to drag race.... tf... LOL The supra boys keep resharing this shit too, but not one of them even goes to the drag strip because of their "axles" Most of these convos are so out of proportion for the average person who comments here. 90% of racers aren't spending any of this money, They do simple bolt ons and talk shit. So the b58 setup works for most. Cheap reliable to make 5-700. The M owners in the same age group cannot afford the upkeep to make the same numbers reliably or the b58 owners call out M cars with less mods done and post the races, Meanwhile the car isnt even setup for roll or drag racing. And the circle of stupid conversation continues. The properly setup S55s in Florida do well. Cars in their power range do not race them and talk shit like mentioned in these interviews. Usually a Supra making 300hp more will call it out. But that same supra is not coming to do anything else that's not in a straight line. At the end of the day some 600 hp AWD civic is gonna destroy all of them anyway..... The e92 e46 f82 etc M platform was not designed to go drag race. It's not a 6 figure glorifiied roll racer. Its not a Hellcat being sold to their respective base a a straight line beast. So i feel like these conversations are so counterproductive. .00001% of the car community is trying to drag race their s55s competitively.. so why even base your times, or platforms or cockiness off of them... Retarded. Use your brains

You all have to know that the N engine were the catalyst when BMW went FI, it's BMW's initial attempt from a long hiatus on FI, its an over engineered engine as BMW engineers wanted to make sure they come out strong on their first outing with that said as expected there will be issues just like any other engine that is in the genesis stage but that gave BMW engineers enough data to improve on the S58 and so forth and so on. Calling it trash is like a disrespect to the elders because without the N engines there won't be any FI engines. And moving forward with the years and the FI engines came out, the interest in quarter mile caught their attention and there are people that build their cars for top speed, track and longevity which these cars a built for.
