Welcome to our channel. All the weapon systems are like books. They tell us their stories. The Weapon Detective investigates these books, reads between the lines, analyses, and tells the untold. At the dawn of the Second Cold War, the fruits of new projects give us clues about the future. But current weapon systems also have their own stories. You can find in our videos technical information, historical backgrounds, what happened during the development processes, combat experience and political projection. Let's investigate the weapons together when the Second Cold War is rising.

They would be useless in a NBC, chemical environment and the crew is not well protected agianst counter battery fire. Range of the gun would be good I'd say but it looks very similar to the Russian 2S7 Pion SPG.

As far as I have heard from the military people, the most important aspect of a weapon is its' functionality. If the weapon works and is reliable, it can be useful for some scenarios. So, these two artillery pieces may help North Koreans if necessary.

The gun does not need a fume extractor. They are only meant for enclosed turrets to mitigate gases from entering the turret during reloading.

The ongoing war in Ukraine has made most current military theories lest to say "questionable," artillery guided by drones, thick Air Defense, drones (of all kinds), long-distance placement of mines.... all who study military history and try to keep up with modern systems must be be very careful if we try to paint something "obsolete" or even "unbeatable" in modern conflict.
@0BLACKESTFUN0

well said , thats the biggest issue why ukraine war is still going on and is stagnating . Both sides know how to improvise and make obsolete weapon system still relevant.
@levilastun829
@levilastun829 6 месяцев назад
It can be argued that artillery guided by drones is something revolutionary, because now the artillery can hit accurately in indirect fire even individual moving vehicles. Before this war, I don't know if any military thinker, was ever considering that artillery could even be that accurate, especially with unguided projectiles. Another thing seen in Ukraine, is that the concentration of forces for the attack is extremely hard and risky, mainly because of the accuracy of the artillery, forcing both sides to make offensive actions with quite small military units, which struggle to make a breakthrough in prepared defensive lines

Nowaday North Korea have tons of alternative solution for Koksan. They have 600 mm KN 25 IRBM and 300 mm MLRS. In the operational fire support mission they have 155 mm SPG which seems like a direct copy from Chinese one. So Koksan will soon end its service to be replaced by a new generation of North Korean artillery system.

I assume that would be Al-Faw, the 210 mm SPG project. Little is known beside that it was designed by Gerard Bull company, so it could have been enlarged GHN-45 in a chassis that copied G6 Rhino.

@@hotlanta35dude whole world is switching to 155mm . Even my country has default Soviet 152mm now we make our own 155mm as well and we brought light weight howitzer that too is 155mm. All mobile howitzer are now using 155mm. It was made standard by usa. Even s.korean shifted on 155mm. Also traditional Scandinavian who used there own Bofors 122mm are making 155mm now.

Slow to move. Slow to emplace. Slow to fire. Slow to relocate. Pretty much meant as a one-shot pony or fixed-emplacement howitzer. One problem with fixed.emplacements is that not only are they easy to find, you don't have to actually destroy them to make them useless. Essentially, these aren't anything to sneeze at, but they are 1980's tech (at best) designed to fight WW2.

@@Alex-no1rb depends on point of view, everyone knew they couldn't capture Kiev with 40.000 soldiers or how much they had there then. They forced peace negotiations and almost got a peace treaty if foreign powers didnt intervene. No army on this planet can take over capital cities in a modern warfare situation. Anyway, the Pions is a very good a artilery piece that still has many uses, the ukranians used them so much until one of them just exploded from poor maintenance

@@Neyreyan well, they could capture it,because theyve outnumbered ukrainians. Thing is, it's very apparent that the entire battle plan was to move troops close to Ukraine's capital and therefore scare Ukraine's government into signing any papers Russia handles over. Russian task force was objectively insufficient for taking Kiev, and poorly managed too.

South Korea's technological advantage in the field of artillery has begun to appear weaker based on recent developments. NK recently released a new SPG model in 155mm caliber, it is said to be based on an Iranian design and can be considered their answer to K9 Thunder. And certainly North Korea's rocket artillery technology is proving better than its opponents in the South, at least for the next few years.
@ELYELYELroy
@ELYELYELroy 6 месяцев назад
South Korea has vastly superior rocket artillery and tube artillery. They are capable of producing and using guided rounds and rocket assisted rounds, combat management systems, counterbattery radar, autoloading systems and fire control systems.
@ifanramadhana7833
@ifanramadhana7833 6 месяцев назад
Like many North Korean projects, little is known about it, even if it's based on Iranian Raad, the SPG itself was based on an old M109. There is little evidence if North Korean can produce it in meaningful number. Beside if it's indeed the case that it was based on Raad, it's hardly modern compared to K9 Thunder with their digital FCS.
