If you want to know which are the best processors for this PC in addition to help for the (m73p and m93p) they are: i7 4765T 35w (The lowest consumption and performance of all i7 4th) i7 4785T 35w i7 4790T 45w i7 4770T 45w i7 4770S (Best in performance) 65w i7 4790S (I don't recommend it but it can handle it) 65w+ There are xeon processors that are similar in performance but the integrated ones are not very good so to speak. The rest of the processors (without letters or K) require modifications for the original adapter, which is a PSU (65w). I recognize that any of them are good depending on their use and most are expensive in price (all those with T) and yes. When you buy the 65w ones you have to have a good air flow type because they will heat up with the mini heatsink and fan that these 2 machines come with (I hope it helped you!!)
I upgraded mine to a i5 4570, what a big difference over the 3220t that was in it, I thought the 4570 was too much power for it ,but it handles it like a champ, even the cooler keeps it just hair under 80c running cinebench. Now I just want to use it for something, I don't want to sell it, maybe as my backup PC, idk. Love these little things.
My room is full of haswell computers and I have one that runs like three OSes and it's my main machine. I put a core i54590 in this thing THE VERY SECOND I FOUND OUT IT HAD A SOCKETED CPU. I almost ended up melting the fan inside of the poor thing and figured out that the core I34130T inside of the system is actually held back by the memory bus. It was able to edit 1080p video in my big fast motherboard alone just like my core i54590 and then my core i54590 was immediately disabled upon entering "the oven" whether it was due to thermal issues for memory bandwidth issues is not even debatable I saw it loud and clear this thing does not know how to manage memory
@@somecuntxxx and 84 watt CPU wont be able to get hot enough to melt plastic, hell any CPU now a days will not get hot enough to melt plastic even over time.
THX for your Video! - And for all who are interested --- I upgraded my Lenovo Thinkcentre Tiny M93p Intel Pentium G3220T Now it has a Intel Core i5-4590 SR1QJ (4 X 3.30GHZ) and works perfect! (normal version 84 Watt , without T or S) I use a PSU - output = 19V 4,22A I simply cut off the cable with the yellow plug from the original power supply and attached it to an old power supply with enough power. ;-)
Yeah its pretty cool, you can also upgrade the ram, ssd, and even wifi card! Just have to be careful on the wifi card as only certain models work. Not approved cards will make the system not boot.
Was that an i5? Upgrade to an i7? Thank you ah, pentium! 🤓 also, when the heatsink/fan is removed, good time to inspect & clean. I think the M710Q can be upgraded, too
I've seen one guy on here upgrade to an Intel Xeon E3-1275L v3 for the best benchmarking results. I just ordered one for my M73 because I use it as a tiny Linux Plex/file/web server. The stock i5 has handled what I needed like a champ, but the extra horsepower will be nice if I ever get a surge in web traffic to my site.
hello how are you, one question i have the lenovo Lenovo M360e Intel i5 8265U 1.60GHz can i upgrade to a 8700 not the k version only the 8700 version? Thanskkkkk great video
Greetings, As someone who has this exact computer and a haswell system of a larger size, I can indeed confirm a quad core CPU with full desktop performance inside of this computer is what you would call "a fire hazard"
Here is a list of all the officially supported cpus: support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/pd029621-detailed-specifications-for-thinkcentre-m73-tiny-form-factor But any of these cpus that end in a T Should work: www.cpu-world.com/Sockets/Socket_1150_LGA1150_H3.html
I think any cpu will work but it might get pretty toasty. If you use a xeon it needs to be one integrated graphics. And make sure you are using a bigger power brick, a non T or S cpu might require a 90w one.
I have this same unit, the M73 Tiny, i removed the wifi card and wanted to install a Mini PCI-E SSD. You have any knowledge on that? From what I read you need to hack the bios to allow it but cant find any other information on that. Thanks
Looks like the m53 has a soldered cpu. So probably just add more ram and an ssd if you don't already have one. But I would double check the system info on lenovo's website first.
could you give a link to the right cpu maybe from ebay i have this machine Im looking to upgrade to an i5 cpu if you could find one for me with 4 cores or maybe even an i7
Its okay for a basic office PC or media PC. Its a little slow for any heavy lifting. You can put an i7 in here that will help but they are pretty spendy and the money is probably better spent elsewhere. But they are fun little machines for emulation or web browsing.
can u pls give the information type of the wifi card. because im using with acer wifi card it doesnt work and i got information that "unauthorized network card is plugged please turn off"
It would be a disaster since the 4690 is a 84W CPU but don't worry. The i5 4690"T" would work just fine with close to no performance loss. When upgrading these little ones, always put a "T" processor and not the mainstream one.
Im still using a trusty Thinkcentre M73 SFF. Leaving in partially unassembled state for GTX 970. The only unoccupied slot is PCIE x1. Im curious how you make use of the little thing. Im wanting to put in an adapter and a NVMe memory card. Whatcha think?
Hello, I have a question is that I have a lenovo thinkcenter m73 tiny with an i5 4570t, will it be that if I change the processor to one without T, will it give me problems if I put it with an adapter from another brand? and can you put a dedicated graphics card?
The cooler will probably handle the heat load OK, but it will be very loud under sustained load. I'm not sure what adapter your talking about. There is no adapter needed for a CPU upgrade. The Tiny series of PCs from Lenovo cannot use dedicated video cards.
Can you please tell me what software I need to upgrade to install a new m73 processor. Upgrading from 2600 dual core to a i5 4790t. I thought I had updated the bios and chipset, but still wont boot up. What am I missing?
@@BrooksyTech So just a quick update. After the bios update, the i7-4790s does work. As it turns out, it’s the same architecture as the 4790, which is Haswell, but uses less wattage. The 4790k has a slightly different architecture, known as Devils Canyon.
@@JFrusci did you have to update the chipset also? I am trying to update to a 4579t and I know the board supports it. Trying to find out what u am missing. Thanks
@@ryecatcher25 All I did was update the bios to the latest version, then I ran an update of all drivers, which did include a chipset update, but the computer booted up with the processor after I did the bios update.
Any haswell LGA 1150 that is 35w or 45w with integrated graphics should work. Here is a list of all the Haswell based processors: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haswell_(microarchitecture)
My Lenovo m73, how to upgrade and the compatibility into gaming and mining? Can you please guide me. I have not upgraded since 2014. I appreciate if you can tell me the perfect upgrade from SDD, memory, motherboard etch etch.
Just to add that it really needs to be an Intel i3, i5, i7 or Xeon that uses 45 watts or less due to the limitations of cooling and the power supply. I've just upgraded mine from an i3 4130T to a i7 4765T (with the help of this handy guide) and it works fine. They are both 35 watt parts. Be careful to get a CPU with the model ending in "T" which denotes ultra low power with a 35-45 W TDP.
@@Huub_Z I don't think so. The Xeon E3-1265L v4 is an intel Broadwell chip so I'm not sure the motherboard will support it. You want a previous generation low power Haswell based CPU.
I have recently just turnt my m73 sff into a great gaming machine. Ive done: •case swap •upgraded to a 550w PSU from standard 240w •480gb SSD •upgraded from i3 4170 to i5 4590 (going to step up to a i7 4790) •Low Profile nvidia gtx 1650 •8gb of ram
@@alplayyt7218 it doesnt fit into the original case you will need a micro atx case and do a case swap. I will make a video of the build on my gaming channel (PuRe Mercx)
