These are just my personal opinions on times I think he wasn't acting. And cutting out all the times that I think he WAS acting/pretending. shit damn hell bitch
Edit: This show is called Lego Monkie Kid... I'm honestly surprised that THIS is how people are finding it... Actually scratch that, I'm not surprised at all. Of course a Macaque video would get recommend everywhere... ---- So we all know Macaque is an actor and likes to cope by putting on some big persona. Well, these are all the times that I personally think he wasn't pretending or acting. In other words, the times he was being genuine. Or I guess the times he wasn't being "dramatic"
Yeah, you can see he's always been the more cautious type so he thinks before he acts even before when he was still on good term with Wukong. He's clearly hurt from what Wukong did to him like he kind of killed kim or just imprisoned him in the underworld which is the same thing arguably. He's broody and dramatic.
5:07 also here you can see his 'hair' looks normal ish in the light But after the cut back from seeing the large lantern move, it's more white and his tail gets some white too when he gets basically thrown. So not only would this be a time he's not acting, but also a time he's not hiding. Probably lost focus, but still.
@@mr.agoshi1872 It's kinda hilarious that we argued that certain things in the show could be changed a lot,but a character from the show itself angrily insists for the fanboy to actually read the book. And for all we know, maybe they don't actually change the lore that much.Like,Red Son could actually be Guan Yin's disciple too, like in the books. Idk that'd be really ironic.
It's still amazing to me how every time he fought against MK or the others he could have finished the job so fast and easy, but he kept taunting them in hopes to buy himself and them enough time to fight back
I KNOW RIGHT I NOTICED THAT TOO!! Like, he could've easily teleported away from the water dragon battle, but instead he was like, "oopsie oh nos what a predicament, I guess I'll have to fight ya before I can capture Wukong and Mk. Dang, that's too bad 🙉" It's as if he was trying everything he could to have deniability so that if LBD ever asks, he could say "w-w-well i couldn't cuz see? They were too clever!"
@@javiera.6326 The way I see it,he doesn't like to be enslaved, doesn't like working with Wukong but still doesn't want the world to fall into calamity,so he plays with both sides. He probably also knew that Wukong would be reckless with his plan so he can use it to free himself.Whether or not Wukong's side did it or survive,as long as LBD's crazy plan doesn't advance,it's a win. He's only started to consider more moral choices after the samadhi fire scene.
0:58 “I don’t really do it…maybe I should…but we’d be here all day so…” Him talking about his emotional baggage and insecurities and probably needing days worth of therapy for it…
I think it has to do with the fact its Shadow Transportation and not Shadow hiding like he did when fighting Mk in the shadow of the Van which is why Wukong was able to grab him
The opening scene introducing Macaque is so well written. Because he is genuine. I do believe he planned to trick MK from the start but he was curious and friendly with greetings. He was testing the waters, seeing what MK would respond to and seeing that MK was dying for a new teacher he jumped at the plan. Even after his plan ultimately fails he is still soft and genuine with MK and treats him kinder than he would anyone else.
Yeah cuz he was literally apprehensive at first like "uhh don't you already have a teacher?" And then suddenly after that he was like "but you can never have too many teachers, right?" So that's why I cut that part out cuz I figured that's when he thought of the plan.
I have a slight theory on why he's so much nicer to MK, and that's maybe MK reminds him of the Wukong he once knew when they were still "brothers" (close friends)
I don’t think macaque ever wanted to steal Mk’s powers to begin with, he could’ve been working with the LBD from the beginning, if we see how they react when macaque is trying to obtain the samadhi fire, I think you can tell he’s been under her control for a while, telling us that he never meant to do anything he has done from episode to episode and season to season
@@Anime_Lover-C1A Macaque wasn't under the Lady Bone Demon's control until the end of the Shadow Play episode. Everything he did to MK before that he did on his own.
4:59 I'm gonna point this out because I haven't seen anyone do it yet. BUT OH MY GOD I LOVE THIS LITTLE REFERENCE. The fact that Piggsy's singing was so loud that it hurt all six of his ears is just such a cool little detail to me. God, Lego really knows how to make a good show.
Yeah... But I do wish it was referenced a lot more. Considering Six Ears is literally his title. Like, just a small shot of him covering his ears in the background would do.
@@boonAlina it is shown a lot more in season 5 where there are small but important details where he can hear conversations or movement from a far and even has some knowledge of whats to happen in the future from the last scene on season 4 to even certain events in season 5. I don't want to spoil anything but there are just so many details to name when it comes to him and his title/abilities
Notice how most of the video is just him being serious, and his happy moments are back in the past. (Edit: Y’all’s, thank you for this much likes 🥹 I really thank you all)
I’d like to point out that in S2 and in S3 when he talked to MK and Tang he seemed to be looking out for them. He knew that MK had the potential to be better than Wukong, so he nurtured it, stopped MK from becoming selfish. And when he was talking to Tang, yes he had ulterior motives, but he was right about how Wukong acted. He didn’t want Tang to be abandoned by the others, but he didn’t realize than MK wouldn’t do that.
Watching this made me realize something. That the sequence at 1:09 was a flashback for Macaque to when Wukong killed him. Bc in the original journey to the west Wukong killed Macaque by stabbing him in the eye (hence the x that is always shown on his right eye). and at 1:16 you can see that the animators made it so that MK was about to stab Macaque in that exact same spot, his right eye. Then he goes on about how similar he is to Wukong because both MK and Wukong went to go for a fatal attack in the exact same position. Which would mean that the LBD brought Macaque back from the dead in exchange for their deal. (Ik that this is probably a well known thing in the community but watching this made me come to this realization)
This is actually new info for me, I’ve never seen that flashback before during that scene (cause it goes by so quick) andI never put the pieces together that MK was about to hit Macaque in the same place Wukong did, so thanks! Also I’ve never read Journey to the West (but I plan to) so I didn’t know Wukong actually killed Macaque in the story, but I have seen a theory before for LMK that the story is actually going to be different and that Wukong actually wasn’t the one who killed Macaque, we’re all just assuming that he did and maybe the LBD either told/manipulated Macaque into thinking Wukong killed him or she took control of Wukong, like what she did in the show Edit: also at 4:02 MK successfully attacks Macaque’s right eye in his bird form and Macaque screams pretty loudly, I wonder if there’s an old wound or something and that attack really hurt him?
Seriously my favorite character in monkie kid like he was and amazing villian bur he's so great when he's like the antihero he's not really one for heroics but will stand by people he cares for when they actually need him even if he doesn't like to admit it honestly I see him as the cool older brother to mk and yes that means I also see monkey king as a brother to mk and macaque ❤❤❤❤
I love how Macaque isn’t really a villain, sure he antagonize MK and played a villainous role in season 3. But this is mainly because Macaque wants what's best for MK, and that is for him to be both a great Hero and a better Monkey King than Sun Wukong.
@@nadiahapsari3359 Spoilers for S5 AND PRINCE OF JINSAI ASKED HIM WHO HE MADE A DEAL WITH!!!! LIKE WDYM!? Also Macaque separated him from Chaos momentarily which is very interesting cuz does that mean Macaque is also connected to Chaos??
@@user-xs6lw5iy3w Spoilers, even if it's just theory THAT'S WHAT I WAS THINKING YO And we haven't known what Macaque is,where he came from or how he came to be.Is it possible that Macaque also looked for power when Wukong went to learn under Subodhi? And I tried to make sense of what the prince consort said.Idk if I'm right, but from what I've been gathering, what Wukong learns under Subodhi are basically 'techniques' or 'breathing techniques' that controls chi energy & cultivate them into certain feats (that's why we see Wukong & MK makes energy bolts out of the staff & their hands).I haven't read the book, this is info from OSP's comment section and various Wuxia (martial arts novel) readers. To me,it kinda implies that Macaque might got a great power from a dangerous instant source that he's not supposed to tamper with instead of a formal training like Wukong,MK,or any other character. And this far,his power doesn't look similar to anybody else besides of Prince of Jisai. It's dark,it doesn't have any seal or symbol (Red Son has his family crest,Nezha has his lotus,Tripitaka/Tang has the Golden Cicada,Wukong & MK has shapes that looks like a cloud/circlet,Li Jing has the pagoda,Iron Fan's Plantain Fan creates a character for wind when used on full power, etc),it can form a construct. I think this season is the most mysterious of them all since these characters are OCs,basically.A result of merging several characters. He's not that random demon from Jisai kingdom that stole the Sariputra (even crazier, somebody proposed that he's actually Fuxi,Nüwa's husband). And Macaque is very different from the book where he just uses his ears to learn stuff Wukong can do.Though there's still a possibility since Macaque seems to know how to make a hurricane like Wukong in the chapter with Taoist immortals. This season feels like the less JTTW-connected of them all with it's Classic of Mountains & Sea characters.I mean yea,it's still JTTW inspired, but Nüwa was barely in it,they just said that Wukong's stone was showered by the energies of the sun and the earth. Lol sorry if this is unintelligible,I'm kinda freaking out over a lot of stuff here.
@@nadiahapsari3359 Some spoilers for S5(?) more theory but still! nah it’s fine I can understand it, but omg!!!! Imagine if Macaque did have six ears but just refuses to look into the future, because then at least we can tie it to JTTW and also could be a plot point if we really wanted it to 🤭 but anyways, he must have learnt it from a power source since his power went the same colours as the prince of jingsai when he focused on it and sensed it on MK's staff, showing he’s connected to whatever it is in some way? Since we don’t know his origins either, a theory I have is that Macaque was created from Chaos, which will explain the link he has to it and why he can use that power, and if we look at it from a JTTW perspective then his six ears make sense since he knows about everything in the sense of if he’s born from chaos then to cause chaos you have to disrupt events and so it causes chaos because yes (idk don’t judge me I’m tired from writing) OMG I LOVE THIS SHOW SOOO MUCH, THERES SO MUCH TO UNPACK AND I CANT WAIT FOR IT TO FINALLY EXPLAIN WTAF IS GOING ON WITH MR MACQUACK
This video randomly showed up in my feed and single-handedly convinced me to binge the show thanks so much for introducing me to my beloved sneaky shadow monkie o7
@@jss2141 I think we're slowly seeing the real him, especially now that him & Wukong aren't on opposite sides.Like,I'm glad that he said what needs to be said on the first episode.
Alright, hear me out: I think we also need a similar video but with Wukong without his persona on.Cause in my opinion, that guy's personality can flip so violently when the situation calls for it.Just take that one moment from Season 5 episode 2 where he broke his monkey bros out.At one side his hair clone laughs at Nezha and acts like his well-known arrogant self. Then his real body breaks out and states "Someone is going to destroy the world and I'm not going to let anyone stop us from saving it." I'm just saying, for a guy that acts like he's the most awesome & coolest thing out there,he sure loathes himself a lot...and isolating himself for that long personally doesn't scream "I'm the best thing there is." And idk if anyone cares, but interestingly, this side of Wukong is not pulled out of nowhere,it's based on something in the book: Lowering the direction of their clouds, the two squires went with the prince to the southern slope and said to Devaraja Li, "That demon indeed has vast magic powers!" Giggling, Wukong said on one side, "His powers are only so-so, but that fillet of his is formidable. I wonder what kind of treasure it is that can suck away things like that:' "This Great Sage is not very mature!" grumbled Nata angrily. "We have lost our weapons and we have fled in defeat-we are sorely distressed all because of you. And you are giggling there instead! Why?" "You speak of being distressed;' said Pilgrim, "you think old Monkey in the last analysis is not distressed? But I have neither plan nor alternative at the moment. I can't cry, and that's why I am giggling!" Note: 'Wukong has cried' is an understatement, cause he cried A LOT.And understandably, since some arc like the fight with Red Son...is pretty demoralising. In my opinion,Nezha (or Nata,or Naya...probably derived from Nala) saying "He's not the loner he shows himself to be." in season 3 and him still having faith in MK & Wukong's gang even after the prison break by saying "They're not the enemy." really shows his understanding of Wukong's character after centuries of knowing him. And there's other examples obviously, like in Six-Eared Macaque arc where he had a friendly chat with Moksha & Red Son/Sudhana acting like nothing wrong happened, and then breaks down crying when he finally met Guan Yin inside the bamboo grove.
I'm not forcing anyone to make a video on this,I'm just pointing out this interesting thing that shows how Wukong & Macaque might be more similar than they want to admit 🤔
Honestly it’s hard to see how powerful he is but we know he’s at least around wukong in power and can hold his own against any top tier but hasn’t reached his fp which is heavily implied in season 5 Spoilers As he was able to break out the snake princes bind somthing not even mk and wukong could
@@Chaoskingdonovan I even got a theory that Wukong & Macaque's power set are actually the same/more similar than we thought, but they each has their own preferences to use it.Cause when we first see him,he can summon a whirlwind just like Wukong did in the books. And in "Ping Pong Madness",Wukong created a portal just like Macaque to send Ginseng fruits to MK.
@@nadiahapsari3359 well macaque is supposed to be a wukong 2.0 with all the flaws in the original story, hence why, wukong has to bring him down to defeat his past. So no wonder.
@@raylenn4444 Yea you're right, but from how they showcased their powers I thought they're gonna deviate from the sources for that one too.Guess I underestimated their level of accuracy.
@@nadiahapsari3359 yes you did indeed. The whole point of macaque, both in the book and in this show,is to be wukong's shadow, in all the ways that matter. It's what makes his character tick.
Yeah but he was seriously weakened after doing that. Meaning it took a LOT of energy just to break out of those binds. Plus, season five hints that Snake Boi and Macaque have some sort of connection with their powers.
in the original myths, it not only refers to his actual 6 ears (something that he's implied to hide with magic in the show) but also to his ability to hear into the past and future to a certain extent. so yeah it is a title actually
