This video is Part 2 of repairing and replacing a Caterpillar D10 Dozer track adjuster cylinder that has been damaged. In this video we are machining and welding to repair the damaged track adjuster sleeve. First we machine down the damaged sleeve surfaces using our TM-1740G lathe before mig welding with silicon bronze to build up the machined steel surfaces. Then the sleeve goes back in the lathe for machining the silicon bronze back to spec. We also finish up completing the track adjuster cylinder barrel by welding the cap end onto the new barrel that we machined and honed in part 1.

Hey viewers thanks for watching today's video Part 2 of the D10 dozer track adjuster job! Looked like the Silicon Bronze went on well, though obviously it doesn't pay by it's self, may I ask what grade/composition it is?. Thanks. Correction, removed "Not" prior to went, don't know what happened there!

We use Silicon Bronze filler for build ups at work pretty often, what you got there is about as good as it ever goes on unless Tig is employed. We get into a good many ductile iron pistons and SB is the go to for that. Nice job!

@@steamfan7147 I've corrected my comment, I meant that it looked good, I've used TIG Bronze (not to a high standard), and does a great job, never considered it for surface build up. Thanks.

Hello Kurtis and the video lady, who is definitely a one off, I doubt if many ladys would put up with the noise, the fumes and being so close up to the machines, because they are extra special shots 💐💐. Hey Kurtis, I work for one of the big 3 here in the U.S., I work in suspension development & I use our machine shop for fixtures etc. Before the pandemic we were asked to participate in lathe, Bridgeport training regardless of our experience, when you were polishing that tube with the emery paper it reminded me of a training video we were shown where the operator put both ends of the Emery paper together & held it with his right hand, you know what happened, it pulled his arm in & around that work piece faster than you could say "oh crap", plus he passed out, instead of turning the machine off(they eventually did) his coworkers tried to pull him out...then that was the end of the video....GOD BLESS!!!

Love sil bronze so versatile Never seen it on mag before mind you but then my days of weld long gone due to bad health and it has been become a down graded job in uk used to get good bucks but not any more even know a company that payed for a college to come in and set the plants up so any old sod of street could walk in and weld what they were told to

Hello Kurtis, its obviously the Safety Officer loves being with you both "Boyo" I have a similar dog to him, mine is a cross Jack Russell, built like a little tank. Great video's Kurtis and very good filming. Allways enjoy, best wishes Geoff Lewis, Wales, UK, 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

You make. It look easy mate. Those filling welds were top. Notch 😊👍🍻🍺🍺🍺🍺 Your channel is great , because you stick to machinist work. Older channels have become commercials for anyone who will pay them. Thanks mate🍺🍺🍺🍺
