Hey I’m a 60 year old gay man that was 19 when Madonna ‘83 came out. I just subscribed and I’m looking forward to going on this journey with you. I saw your album reaction and I think when you hear the single edit of Borderline and see the video you will also like it a lot more 👍👋😎😁
Loving you are starting to watch madonnas music videos! You should do her entire music singles discography Starting with this song…. And continue from there From her beginning all the way to now
You're right this was her first single and video. When Madonna got her record deal it was only for two singles not even a full album. She did the single and this video with virtually no money.
Hi. I love that you're doing it by era ❤ This is her 1st video so low budget basic but they do improve. I agree with also adding some award show moments as these were huge in pop culture. For this era, before watching the tour I suggest the following 3 essential views: 1. Her TV debut (America): Dick Clark American Bandstand 2 minute interview (on the end of her Holiday performance 1984). 2. the first VMA awards (America) 1984 where she does Like a Virgin (MTV JUST released it recently), and became an overnight sensation, starting her Imperial Phase which lasted 8 years. 3. Live Aid 1985 world- wide, benefit, mega-concert. (Unlike the first 2 TV appearances whuch were only seen by the US, this introduced her to the WORLD. There was no internet remember and her Virgin tour was only in the US.) She did 3 songs: Holiday, Into the Groove, and premiered a new song (Love makes the World Go Round - which i believe she wrote for Live Aid?) from her upcoming 3rd album True Blue. You could watch this AFTER the tour as a bookend, to see how she goes from a small theatre venue to a giant stadium crowd as a segue to True Blue era.
Yeah, react to the videos then the tour in chronological order is a better way to do a Madonna journey. You’ll see her evolution as an artist through the different eras. Madonna’s formula is: album project development, then singles release, album release, then guest/promo appearances/performances, finally a concert tour. She elevates the visual and messaging of the song through the music video, then in the themed-tour she combines all the artistic elements of state-of-the-art staging, high-tech audio/visual, fashion style/look, back screen multimedia imaging, superb choreo with her elite dancers, live back up band, and her spectacular singing and dancing. It’s in these live tours that she excels as a performance artist.
Cool that you have seen Open Your Heart, Vogue and Take A Bow, so you know how much more professional it all gets when she has a proper budget but it is interesting to see this young Madonna shooting a music video with a 100 dollar budget hehe she has the charisma to make it entertaining by her sheer presence. Her music, tours and videos just kept getting better and better.
