Thanks Doc. But for your kidney patients, if they take Mg, or Vit E or Vit D3, their calcium levels are going down, what inference would you draw. Is it that they are not able to convert D3 to activated form ie Calcitriol and hence are unable to tolerate Mg etc hence put them on calcitriol first ? Or is it that Kidney patients cannot manage /ingest magnesium and potassium supplements in the first place ?

@PlantBasedKidneyHealth
@PlantBasedKidneyHealth Год назад
So glad our episodes are helping! Lentils are a great plant protein and fiber source. Lentils contain a good amount of potassium (~365 mg per 1/2 cup cooked). So only thing to be mindful of is if you have a potassium restriction. You just want to make sure the portion and what they are consumed with fits individual potassium needs.

@@PlantBasedKidneyHealth Perhaps it’s just a general question. Would most advice provide on living with kidney disease also apply to those that had renal transplants? For instance most of the advice provided on supplements like Vit K2, magnesium, Omega 3 etc… I’m particularly interested in supplementing with Créatine which your video (with supported studies) shows to be safe in the short and long term - does that include transplant patients? was just curious about more specific do/don’ts of you had a transplant (I do work with my practitioners). You have excellent content and it’s very well delivered. Your nutrient video on post transplant was fantastic.

Hello! We can not provide individualized advice for patients as to whether they should or shouldn't take a supplement or not. There are a lot of uses of magnesium so we recommend discussing with your physician how you use it so they can look at the safety according to your labs, health history, and other meds/supplements you might be taking!
