Chris this is me. I have TWO of these both I never got working. Lol they wanted me to update the FW and you have to have this pogo pin programmer. It’s a pain.

I got one of the laser sensors a while ago and never installed it because I heard it was unreliable. I'm glad to see they've made advancements in this.

Just when i finished my sensor ready to mount on my Franken Haribo / Caribou Duet setup this video popped up. Ill print the housing from Lo-Fi and then mount it. Thank you for making this content!

@@ChrisRiley Without connecting to the duet i could see the magnet skipping when i ran filament trough the original design. It will probably work with some very tight tolerances. The Lo-Fi design works flawlessly for me now! Printing away with several prints , and yes i tested the runout function .....its great.

Thx Chris, I got mine working in wider parameters after a lot of fiddling, I’m going to try the new housing. Btw I printed the housing in ASA, a lot smoother operation.

Chris, great video. I hope this can help someone. I tried the BTT smart sensor and then made some myself. The problem I ran into was too many false runouts. I had to increase the distance of filament before declaring a runout. I was in the 30+mm range. That was too much for a real error, a big gap in the print. I went back to the simple switch and have had much better results.

I installed rep rap on my prusa caribou wrote some very nice macros for filament runout that I use. but that one is for the it sensor. which is basically a switch.

I have one and was never able to complete a print without it seeing either way too much or way to little filament movement. It would go just fine for a while with a reading of plus or minus 15%, then suddenly there would be one reading that was like 300% off for and it would trip. I gave up and just left it set up but changed the config line for it from S1 to S0 so it wouldn't trigger a pause. I'll try the Lo-Fi remix of the housing and see if it does any better

One question I have is this… can you make a macro like a Prusa, where when the sensor senses movement the feeder starts pulleying it in automatically? Thanks again Chris. Amazing. I have so much money in these things and I never got them working

the one thing I wonder is if one mounted this right over a DD extruder would it just auto feed on its own like the MK3S+ does on filament insert.
