I bet the dispatcher of that Sentinel was like, "Okay, when you reach Magneto and he tries to do his thing, you need to explain "why" his powers aren't working." LOL.
It was probably said to indicate to the viewers what's happening. But they could have had Magneto use his powers, the Senator explain - but it would have been... A longer cut.
There were two actors for magneto in this series. Filler eps had the guy who voiced the human version of sauron as magneto, epic episodes like magneto coming back from the dead were voiced by this version
It’s just a shame we never actually see him do anything that shows just how amazing he is, I guess the problem is I can use magnetos powers way better than the script writers the second I saw the first sentinel ied have had thousands of chunks of metal flying around the outside of the boat at the speed of sound preventing anything for getting near it. Also it bugs me that the show didn’t show off his other powers like the fact he also has limited telepathy and the ability to control most forms of energetic wavelengths (stuff like X-rays and even light) not just magnetism.
@@permeus2nd Yeah, they didn't tap into a fraction of what he could do. Same with Storm. But I think they had to place some limits on the characters or else there wouldn't be much to the fight scenes.
@@permeus2ndThe thing is, if you try to use the ridiculous and often inconsistent feats from comic book characters, you basically end up at dragon ball universe, where nothing concerning powerscaling really makes any sense anymore. And characters with more down to earth powers, like wolverine for example, would be left in the dust, basically becoming Yamchas :p
Environmentally friendly AND capable of distinguishing the fact that Mutants ARE humans. Mastermold was based af. Exactly how was he the villain again?
Which is funny because if Magneto can make an entire space colony on an asteroid. He can certainly use an entire decommissioned ship to take down a few robots with ease, but derp show logic right? 😂
This was one of my favorite scenes from the X-Men cartoon series. Despite how ridiculous the notion of "plastic Sentinels" was, Magneto didn't stop. Even injured, he started pulling apart the ship and taking out two Sentinels single-handedly. What a boss.
Perhaps a physics teacher can answer , if indeed this series of sentinels are made of plastics and not metal ,how could just one open up a metal ship ? The people of Bishops future must be stupid, look at the sentinels , they are incompetent , they can trip on banana peals
I remember reading the actual comic when Magneto was liberating Genosha to take in refugees in on Asteroid M. They had plastic sentinels there too and he said something like "Impressive that they have sentinels made from plastic. But they still can't make one to survive metal rods" just before impaling it.
You are comparing real world physics and chemistry to a fantasy world. In that world, They have clearly developed plastics that are as strong as metals. They would be compelled to because of Magneto. Its not the same universe as ours so the same laws of chemistry and physics do not apply.
I like your Point! and I agree with you, they are not just moving parts there are like you said electronics in there , which he could short-circuit quite easily, thanks for sharing and SUB.
I get the feeling that Magneto's powers actually have nothing at all to do with magnetism. He moves non-magnetic objects and can't move objects that actually have a hypothetically usable magnetic field.
I remember this scene as a kid, & after nearly 3decades and re-watching this it has aged like fine wine. Glad the content was more mature, this way u can enjoy rewatching this well into your adult years and share it with your kids also 🤟
@@iamthereinforcements1972 plastic can’t generate an electric charge. Just to have power at all, the sentinels would need metal. Can’t pass electric signals through plastic either.
@@JT-gi8rx Electric signals work just fine through copper circuits. In this cartoon universe, Magneto usually can not use his powers to move around copper, just metals based on iron (steel, adamantium, etc.) That is why he doesn't just routinely disable Cerebro, disable Cyclops visor or shut down Beast's computers; his powers don't work like that. Besides, the Sentinels may have lied about being made of plastics. The may have been built in such a way that their electronics are shielded from magnetic fields using something like a faraday cage.
@@g00gleminus96 what about the rockets they have in their legs? I doubt a plastic or copper combustion chamber would work. And any other form of rockets, something would have to be made of metal. Besides that, though, Magneto controls the entire electromagnetic spectrum, he can give off an EMP that should knock any electronics out. Although this would mess up some storylines big time because it would make Magneto overpowered, and he would win most scenarios. Unless, like you said, there was some way to effectively shield electronics from an EMP…🤷
Fun Fact: the voice actor David Hemblen was actually in the running to play Magneto in the 2000 movie. But he had scheduling conflicts, and Singer already had a working relationship with McKellan anyway. On a side, Chris Potter, who voiced Gambit, was asked to audition for the movie as well, but they asked him to try out for Cyclops, a character he didn't really like. But both Hemblen and Potts were pretty big actors in Canada when the cartoon was made, like getting celebrities to do Timmverse DC cartoon voices.
@@SatanicWarbringer No, that's absolutely nothing compared to the fact that when I was 5, I thought Wolverine and Cyclops were the same character. Please don't bother asking how or why. I was just getting into X-Men at the time. All I had for reference was a Ultimate X-Men coloring book and Super Hero Squad X-Men figurines. It was only a few months later that would I actually learn about them through X-Men Evolution, my Dad's old comics and the 90s animated series.
"Plastics not Metals" My ass every time they MOVE you can literally hear all the gears inside of them. Those gears better be made of fucking wood if you want me to believe that they're not made of Metal.
+ComixBlade I'm sure what they mean is that their magnetic parts are insulated with plastic, making them inaccessible to Magneto without first removing the insulation.
Damn, Magnus got ambushed by at least 4 plastic sentinels. Took 2 out, 1 ran away, and the last one blind sided him. I think Magneto was injured, too. He had bandages around his arm around at 2:25. This dude Magnus here is straight gangsta.
dumb.... they made magneto weak! ofcourse he can still control those sentinel just the writer creator doens't want him to cheat! They stil have metal in them and how do they even break through super strong metal object when plastic should had damage arms....
Some flaws with the cartoon, plastics doesn't conduct electricity. They could have used non magnetic metals, but I guess science facts is what people didn't care to learn when watching the show.
As the saying goes, Hurt People hurt people. The cycle of violence perpetuates itself like a disease, infecting victims and using the survivors to spread to the next series of hosts.
Is anyone else impressed by some of the animation here? The transition from Magneto getting KO'd to the jets engines, and then Wolverine's reflection in the water. Really good work!
So is visible light,Infrared, radio, gamma rays and Xrays. It's all part of the E.M spectrum. Magneto controls one of the four fundamental forces of reality.
Static has power over electromagnetism (and therefore electricity), and I believe he can control metals too, since he flies using a metal surf board. Theoretically Magneto should be able to do the same thing, in controlling electricity. Am I correct?
Still is. In fact I'd say they are the only comic book movie series still shooting for awesome, it seems everything else is settling on vapid schlock. X-Men needs a new cartoon series though.
+KyodaiKen1979 _and Wolverine never used claws to draw blood? Thanks, but no thanks._ So ... you hate on basically every animated show ever made with Logan in it because of this? _Love_ the logic there, dude. >_> I don't really disagree with the "Jean fainting" bit, though.
Great speech, but I feel Magneto could’ve elaborated just a tad bit more on WHY the people he saw as a boy were executed. Something as simple as saying “When I was a boy, I saw men executed. Women and children. Simply because they were deemed different than what was perceived as ‘normal’.“ Would’ve enhanced the speech & got Magneto’s point across better. Other than that minor issue, this is still really good stuff.
@@nonamenoname9096 But it wasn't revealed he was a Holocaust survivor until the 80's. Magneto didn't really become sympathetic until the Chris Claremont run.
I always thought it was the public being fine with a select few people having powers and knowing just enough about them to feel some sense of trust and safety. When it comes to mutants any rando can be one due to a random quirk of genetics and no one would know it until they lose their shit and take out an entire city block. It's the unpredictability of mutants existing and them not always being in full control of their abilities that makes people afraid, plus that and people tend to be stupid and fickle. They probably don't give much thought to what if any actual differences they're are between mutants and someone like Captain America or Thor. They know the first two are trusted heroes and the other is as far as they can see is just a dangerous minority group.
Magneto : Ha ha I control magnetism . Senator : Ha ha these sentinels are non metallic ! Magneto : No wait , I control everything on the electromagnetic spectrum , all forms of radiation including radio waves , light ... err pretty much everything and well everything is affected by magnetism (wipes all the programming of the sentinels , cooks Senator Kelly with a Microwave ... Surprisingly easy ... hmm who knew !
Aye. That's why he can more or less spam lasers in Marvel vs. Capcom games, it's not some random gimmick. The live action movie variant is a rather nerfed Magneto and they still considered him "high level". There's a reason he's one of the most powerful non-god characters in fiction.
He didn't go down to four sentinels. He got sucker punched with the first laser, took out two of them while dazed, got blind sided by a descending fist, then the scene cuts. The injuries we see on him and the damage to the ship don't match up with what we saw, implying the fight continued for some time after that point. Just think about where that severed Sentinel arm that spooked Gambit came from. Definitely not from the two we saw Magneto take out on screen.
@@YouthRightsRadicalhe’s an omega level mutant. Full control over his powers. Not to mention the cable that grabbed senator Kelly seemed metal and not plastic. I think it was plot armor that weakened him. Nonetheless still a great scene.
1:00 Magneto says "I flew to Washington", and my brain automatically assumes he meant that he flew onboard an airplane... and then we see him just electro-ball hovering there himself, lol.
On this Earth they saved The Plastic Problem and dived the Sentinels into the ocean . Clean the oceans we can make a few sentinels against Magneto kids
Call Me Titus bro when wolverine and Spider-Man fought on the crossover 🔥🔥🔥and the crossover two parter came on at night on some type of special it was so flames
StygianWolf Actually at this time it was Marvel's animation studio working with Fox Kids (who aired the show) 20th century fox as a whole (owners of the X-Men film rights) have nothing to do with this show.
CrazyGamerz On the inside, yes, they do, especially if their brain is a computer, and magnets exert force through plastic. In fact, there's no reason why Magneto could not rip their wires or computer brains out. Also, if a magnet or magnetic field gets strong enough, it will effect anything with charged particles, even materials such as plastic, which contains electrons as part of the atoms. There's also no reason why not just cause their brains to overload by inducing a power surge with magnetism.
Raskal Robbin Magnetism effects electric currents too, plus, in the case of strong magnetism, magnetic fields actually repel or push away non-ferrous metals. No reason why Magneto can't "force push" the Sentinels, even if they are plastic on the outside.
unfortunalty the creator wants magneto not to cheat, so they just made them plastic instead of metal. Ofcourse there metal just creator dont wanna make magneto super strong and break them easily.... Magneto can sense metal
Robert Deffenbaugh magneto wasn't fake and he knew what was up, that's why he created his own island to get away from fake shit, co-exist ? Please, X was an ass kisser
People are always saying "Stop! I've got a family! 😭" but they never consider how that's actually no excuse since it's their fault for starting that family without taking into account what Magneto was going to do to them.
@@leonardobraynen1524 *"Batman: The Animated Series-"* all time classic. When I first saw it in 1992, I was blown away by it. The fact that Harley Quinn came from that show makes it all the more better. Still stands the test of time.
Yeah. I'll throw in Batman's animated series and the Superman cartoon around the same year was legit. I still remember the episode in Superman when Darkseid invaded earth and Orion with the scuad rolled in to help earth. Sad ending to that episode tho if anyone remember.
I still watch all of these shows now. I get more out of these cartoons now than I did as a kid. They had the flashy superhero/supervillain powers to appeal to kids and the stories to appeal to an older audience. Amazing how well they have held up over the years!
I always wondered why magneto didnt throw up his blue electomagnetic shield to block the laser blast. He was always quick on the ball with it vs cyclopes.
He didn’t have enough time to do it, because he was caught off guard when his powers didn’t work on them directly like they had previously ( he assumed that the fight would go the same way that it always does against them, and that assumption was his mistake).
Sentinel: "This series is made of plastic." Magneto: "Oh yeah, what about your circuits and wires." Sentinel: "Uh... plastic." Magneto: "Dude, really?"
I thought storm woman only controlled the wind, not the water! :D.... and I also liked the way the robot explained that it was made of plastic, and gave him a whole speech about it! LOL
Storm can create Equatorial heat, fog, mists, snow, rains , ice etc;. She merely blew the sea or ocean water to douse the fire. But being a pretentious character ( having Africans look stupid in believing that she's a" goddess " , come on, even Magneto and Emma Frost would not dare try to pull that on a White audience) makes me dislike her intensely. My favorite characters are Jean and Scott here, What they forget in Magneto's background in the cartoon, but not in the Comics is/ was that he is a Holocaust survivor and Jewish, That colors every thing he does and it's allowed to stand without criticism because to criticize it would be considered anti semitic.
In a later episode, we actually see Storm controlling the climate of an entire planet when some aliens screwed up their own climate badly enough that they were all going to die without help, and tried to get her to stay permanently. Honestly, the ones calling her a goddess are the ones who seem to have figured out what the score is.
