Hi Anshuman, First of all yet another great video. Enjoyed watching it just like others. Second, I own XUV500 W8 FWD. Is the MLD kit also available for XUV. Also do you have any idea about customizing my XUV to 4x4 .
Is MLD also applicable for 2020 BS6 REAR WHEEL DRIVE SCORPIO Which is not available in 4x4? and can we convert a 2WD scorpio into 4x4 with MLD by BS6 coz there is no 4x4 there after 2020 model
I am glad that this video has been able to generate some genuine interest for MLD and very good quality of queries by so many people. Thanks a lot folks.
An update...The Eaton MLD is also available for the Safari/ Storme as well. And hopefully Arya Motors Gurgaon should be able to install it. I had a word with Mr. Kohli and he said that it is more of a bolt on job for Tata vehicles but again the installation should be done by someone who is aware of what he is doing.
I tested MLD on my NG Scorpio S6+ in my recent visit to leh and I was able to pass through deep water crossings and slush very easily. In extreme snow conditions over Changla and Kardungla i kept the speed below 20 kms and it passed through snow and slush very well. Never felt the need of 4x4. Tried climbing up ghata loops and few other short cuts and during the whole visit approx 25-30 times it engaged and helped. I am blessed to have MLD in my Scorpio and it has really made it capable for all terrains now. I was able to jump start from places where even Crysta and Endevour required to roll back gain momentum n then pass.
While returning from passes the slush and water in sides of roads was making wheel spin for lot of SUV, the more you race more vehicle get closer to rocks. But with mld i was able to come back on road easily after little spin and there was no need of people pushing or recovery. While descend on slush and snow it felt more comfortable after lock engaged and grip felt better to avoid skid to sides. Also in Zozila if vehicle stops it was very troublesome for other cars to start again due to pebbles and wet mud, during the time MLD also helped. Thanks for suggesting its install....
Wow really off road kit has made Scorpio more capable. Great video. Anshuman just wanted to know are there any off road kit along with suspension kit available for safari storm.
Unfortunately no good kits are available for Storme, just get custom bumpers made for Storme, which otherwise is a quite sorted vehicle compared to Scorpio. Even for Scorpio just the Eaton lockers are available.
Both Endy and Fortuner are excellent cars, my choice will be Endeavour 3.2 Titanium 4x4 or 2.2 Trend Manual 4x4. New Pajero Sport is also equally good but after sales support and resale is not as good.
Hi Anshuman, great video showing up the capability the beast got with MLD. It seems worth install, please provide tips and key points while getting it installed. Was that installed from GSP Motors Gurgaon ? I have been in touch with Eaton folks for its NG scorpio evaluation (put some posts over team bhp as well) and now see a success story too. I am buying it this week from Delhi Kohli Motors. THANKS ALOT for great video clearly mentioning the old issue areas now doable with MLD. Can we test the vehicles in slush or snow sometime too ? :)
You can find it in Australia , Argentina,Brazil ,south Africa ,Kenya , Nigeria ,etc! It's an excellent cheap 4x4 with 42:1 crawl ratio, more than lots of other 4x4s which usually have 36:1 or much lesser ! Ground clearance and wheel travel is a problem !
the older model was more tuned for off-road from the factory and hence had a more loosened chasis as compared to the new one. the new one is more of a setup for better on road manners I think. I don't know if MLD came in the older scorpio. The MLD makes a huge impact on the new one as it can crawl a bit better. Great job
MLD was never factory fitted option for India, it was an aftermarket option. The new Scorpio has a different rear axle than the old car, so there was confusion on whether MLD will fit or not.
Anshuman Bishnoi thnx alot for the info. but again great job. the only thing left to do with the scorpio is to lose the side steps/ running boards as it is getting damaged and may be hampering ground clearance.
Hi Anshuman It wasa great video.... I have Scorpio S10 2WD 2016 .......does this Eaton MLD works good with this.... as i have faced lot of challenges during offroading.... Please let me know and also let me know.... Is it now available in Bangalore....?
Transfer Case controls shifting to 4wd and switching between Low range and high range. This same transfer case is used in both Scorpio and Safari/Storme, while the whole system is good, the electric engagement system is known to fail. Thar uses a similar transfer case from Borg warner but has mechanical shifter.
@Anshuman, just curious to know once after >100 rpm n locking, does the lock stays till speed increases ? How and will MLD help in sand, slush and snow as well ?
Hi Anshuman. I'm interested in installing Eaton mld in my Scorpio too. Have located the north india dealer. But can't find a good work shop in allahabad UP to get it installed. Please advise.
MLD doesnt require any maintenance, but after a few years it wears out and stops working. Happened with both Scorpio and Thar. It was covered in warranty from Mahindra for Thar, after market unit on Scorpio was covered in warranty by Eaton.
Yes and No, Yes on grip levels, no because of the wobbly suspension. Highly recommended and super value for money upgrade for Scorpio and Old Thar owners.
Hello Anshuman, would you be kind enough to tell me what are the tyres installed in the Scorpio. I also wanted to know what other mods have been done to his car. Is dieseltronic installed in this car? lastly if i want to install MLD in my scorpio how to go about it. I mean whom to contact. I am from Kolkata. Thanks in advance!
Hi Biswadeep, 1. Tyres installed are Pirelli Scorpion ATR, 265 Fortuner size, I wouldn't recommend this size, please stick to 235 Scorpio size. 2. The car also has Racedynamics Dieseltronic lite, I would recommend the regular Dieseltronic over it. 3. Contact Eaton India local dealer they will sell you the MLD, you will have to get it installed on your own, I'd recommend Mahindra dealership for installation.
Thankyou soo much for your reply. I really appreciate it. Btw today only i installed the Pirelli Scorpion 235/65/R17 in my car. The tyres are awesome. The ride quality of the car has changed a lot. Take care n Safe driving!!!
wow awesome video. my search probably ends here. I guess you could help me with some queries. I have a bolero crde storm 2wd. I don't really feel like giving it away, it's been my most reliable worry free vehicle so far. my questions are, 1) can I fit this MLD for my bolero. 2) will it improve it's off road capability? 3) will this MLD help in case of slippery tracks with slush? because in your videos it's only mud tracks. 4) what other modifications do I need to do to make it a better off roader? 5) I will these MLD fitment impact the existing tar road manners? 6) lastly are there any reliable ways is converting this bolero into 4wd? I guess you might suggest me buy a used thar. ;-) please provide me pointers to start with on this MLD etc., I am from Bangalore.
1. Check with Eaton India or Mahindra on what differential your Bolero has, if it is same as Scorpio/Thar, MLD should fit. 2. Yes it will improve off road capability a lot, but it still wont be capable as 4x4, at some tricky situations it will out perform a 4x4 with open diffs. 3. Yes it will offer better traction than your current setup 4. Get a 4x4 5. No 6. I wouldnt suggest going through that pain, obviously Ill suggest a Thar as alternative. If the MLD does not fit, you can get locking differential kit from www.lamdacomponents.com/
I bought the MLD and when it brroke after a few months I tried to engage with the company for months, but Eaton never responds. I found a distributor and said that even if a small partt breaks eaton wants you to buy the part again even though a small part may be broken.I would recommend not to buy it.
