Swatching straight from tube:
Swatches fine, might be a bit more saturated after I let them dry for a week.
Color Mixing:
This isn't exactly a mixing set, so it wasn't easy to get most mixes? I should have picked up a cool yellow- that would've given me a better idea of the range of mixes possible. That said, I still have TWO MORE SETS to unbox, so I may revise my thoughts by the Jeannie Dickson review.
I am noticing some scaling? in the Burnt Sienna x Ultramarine Blue mix- not quite granulation, but like, white scales. Colors dry a ltitle more desaturated than I'd like, but that might also be the colors neutralizing each other. It will be interesting to see if/how my opinion changes as we go through the sets.
After a week of drying:
Seemed to reactivate with no issues, and color was a bit easier to handle.
Note: Wet into wet test will be done after I unbox all three sets, and I may opt to do a fieldtest in the final review.

it's pronounced "my-mary", (bonus points if you can roll your Rs!), in case you were wondering 🙂. Though I am not the best at phonetic transcribing of Italian words in English (because Italian is my first language)! They are a pretty popular brand in Italy, and obviously much cheaper there. When I was a schoolkid we were only allowed Maimeri gouache in art class, so the brand always brings back memories! Fun fact: gouache was the standard school paint in Italy (at least in my experience). I had never even heard of acrylic other than wall-paint before I came to the UK, but here (and the US) people use acrylic as their go-to paint, and gouache is the unknown, which is a cultural difference I find really interesting

Thanks for evaluating this brand! I recently received a few of the MB colors and it's great to see a review. I haven't had to open stuck Maimeri Blu caps, but older Winsor & Newton tubes were notorious for getting stuck and brute force destroyed the metal tubes. My solution was to soak the entire tubes in warm water. Most caps easily open in minutes, occasionally one needs to be soaked overnight in the room temperature water, but all open by the next day. Hope this helps someone with stubborn caps :)

The MMB lids are easier to open for hands that hurt. I love MMB. They make my fave PV19

I agree with that pv19. I have every pv19 from almost every single brand and the maimeri blu is my favourite. It's the prettiest pv19 imo

I believe the "BEST" paint brand available in north America is DaVinci Paints of California! I was introduced to them by Denise Soden and her Moody Trio colors! I have since purchased several of her curated sets as well as my favorite colors and pigments. I have tried so many brands so I am not ignorant of what makes a good professional paint. If you look at the start of MaiMeriBlu's name it is Mai the same spelling as the month in many languages "May Merry Blue" is how most of the Italians I know say it. If your interested in that sort of thing. Thanks for giving us your opinions, Good luck with your Prints, so fun!

It's hard to find a decent price for this brand in the US. Their tubes are smaller (12ml) compared to most other brands (15ml), but their price is always higher than say Daniel Smith.

I have a few of these and have not been impressed. The raw sienna has virtually no Pigment and is almost impossible to rewet when dried.
