@@TheOceanRace Sure. Now let’s compare the number of boats that began the last version, the number that began this version, the number and % that finished the leg, and the amount of damage suffered. Shredded sails. Multiple Broken rudders. Multiple delaminations. Destroyed deck hardware. Broken foils. And no doubt much more damage we will never learn. The race went from a fascinating chess match of a dozen solid boats built for round the world with 100 sailors participating, to a boring single routing drag race in overly delicate, overly expensive boats, with just 20 sailors (and in this past leg just 16) participating, all for the sake of a few knots of boat speed. No thanks. I’m done following, as I believe are many others. It’s just not that interesting. And as someone who has lived on a 35 ft sailboat for decades, and with my wife has more than 100,000 sea miles under our keel, my perspective is that it’s not really sailing. Stuck in a cocoon hoping your boat doesn’t fall apart is, well, just plain idiotic. My bet is many of the sailors agree. When I texted 11th hour after they broke their 2nd rudder that they never had these issues with the VOs I got a terse response. “We hear you”. Bottom line. They ruined the race.
