Back in January, Tim Gentry asked me to help him with his Yacht Haul from PA to Wisconsin. It was a new experience doing tail escort duty. Especially the amount of Road Rage I had to deal with keeping vehicle away from a multi million dollar yacht.

Alright I’m gonna clear up some comments!! 75% of my loads are with police escorts actually even on this same highway with a big yacht before we run exactly the same as I did in this video,, Steve was doing exactly as I asked of him, ppl can say all they want about hauling oversized load and there’s a reason there’s not many out here hauling boats when you have million dollar plus loads and on the highway we were on I don’t take any chances unless I know it’s 1000% safe for them to come around we were 16 wide and the bridges are 20foot wide on this stretch of highway and there about every half a mile up to every mile except in certain places, I run plenty fast enough to not impede traffic as you guys could tell I pass when safe to keep from holding up the left lane the biggest issue with cars passing is they get nervous and hang out rite beside the $750,000 mass hanging off the driver side when you come up on a bridge with a car beside you and you both don’t fit it equals disaster.. so steve held them until I felt safe to let them pass which is what he was hired to do. I’m sure some do it different but this is how I do it and like I said most the time the police escort is and run exactly how this was done

So you’re saying you run like that in every State or just I-80 in Pennsylvania? You also sound very confident in putting the escort driver at risk who obviously was a Rookie. If you ask an experienced pilot to do that, he’ll probably tell you to find yourself another Pilot. IMO, there was absolutely no reason you had to run that fast. Especially since you claim to care about the expensive boat you were hauling. Any true Professional knows SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE. I’ll tell you what tough guy wannabe truck driver, keep the videos coming , especially the ones where you run with a State Police Escort. That I’d love to see.

As a Aussie it hurts me to watch this. is so pathetic you have to run day times during bussiest traffic times with oversized loads.. the stupidity of this amazes me and your country needs to change it to night quieter times to run the roads properly. Wonder why you can't run roadtrains the recklessness of car drivers is horrendous and Yanks would kill themsleves driving around these as have no common sense of wide loads and big trucks. Maybe Pilot rules are different to our countries but saw nothing wrong with the pilots blocking traffic when needed. maybe could of let more through but i have no clue on road conditions and that is a huge part of a pilots job of controlling traffic.

We seen a whole bunch of strikes. Tom was supposed to clear the top of the boat of snow debris. Passing vehicle's while failing to maintain the correct speed control which is 55 miles an hour. And the lead driver who is so far up there shouldn't be that far up. And a bunch of other's. Jesse said that if he had Gentry pass him while debris was falling off the boat. He would have filmed it. And radio the highway patrol and even the weigh station. He would even email the video. We had something similar like that. The hauling company was stopped after tons of complaints about wreck less 18 Wheeler cutting people off while passing them. That driver and his pilot transport vehicles was denied to continue on their journey delivering the shipment. We ended up getting called by the highway patrol to come over and secured it. Which means it was transported to our company and we was to hold it until they (Highway Patrol) does there investigation. The transport company lost there license to transport anymore and even ollist there CDL'S and the pilot drivers front driver and rear driver lost there CDL'S and Driver's license. We ended up delivering the shipment to the customer who was not thrilled about having to pay us $$$$$ about 2 weeks in the impound yard. And $$$$$$ delivering it. And we requested that they send us a cashier's check for the 75% of what we charge. And the rest when we got there. They did that and we had somebody run to the bank and Cash the cashier's check. And we delivered the shipment to them. They was not happy having to pay us $1,25,000.00 that's for 2 week's in the impound yard. And our pilot drivers front and rear. And the semi driver who is actually my husband Jesse. We have heard about that trucking company going out of business for being taking to court and driver's not having a current CDL.

Wow you yanks have some rediculous rules and being Australian that said's something. You really cry about snow falling off top of a boat that is hard to climb on to and clean off and during slippery snow conditions could lead to a persons death just cleaning it. What do you do when snow falls from the sky do you blame someone then lol. In Australia sometimes dust is everywhere and can't see a truck in front of you. do we tell truckies to stop and clean everything lol. Also we carry bigger loads then you Yanks even dream of with multiple trailers and our pilots stay way back and way up front to alert us of the oversized load oncoming or coming up to it. Maybe you have more pathetic laws lol and is good to see the differneces in countries but you are making me laugh now.

Tim was the only person to determine if where and when safe passage would be feasible. Miniscule amounts of time lost displays not recognizing reality for the impatient. Lack of patience is a reality check of serenity. Opinions of selfishness apon Tim is a mute point because he is the pilot and no one else. Safety is prioritized above all. He can NOT see anything in his mirror except a boat. Steve relays info about numbers and size of vehicles wanting to pass. This happened when conditions were safe for all and not until safe for all!!!! Spout all you want and the cure will not be imposed upon Steve and Tim. The illness lies in the complainers court not understanding reality, safety AND serinity.

@@GentryandsonsThe rear escort was way out of line and creating dangerous situations regardless of what you told him. And yes, I have hauled more expensive manufacturing, highly precision machinery. When you applied for your permits the state requirements for police escort were not met, you know this as part of your job, others here obviously don’t understand all the regulations regarding movement of oversized loads and the difference’s from state to state. If the state thought the dimensions of your specific load would hinder the flow of traffic indicated in this video, a police escort would have been required. The state will always cover their butt, to error on the side of caution, hence over regulation. Definitely room for improvement, use this video as a learning tool .

That's the problem is 4 wheelers don't understand oversized loads or 18 wheelers for that matter. Need to have some of this in driver's education. Think it would be better on the road if more people understood trucks and what we go through every day.

This isn't the proper way to escort an oversized load. They're impeding traffic and acting like they own the highway They should be in the right lane and shoulder and allow traffic to pass in the left lane and only use the left lane when the shoulder is blocked, but instead, they're passing traffic, and blocking traffic from passing them... they're being total idiots

When I hauled boats I had a hydraulic trailer that was high expense but I used a special built LTL 9000 6x6 because I had to pull and launch boats sometimes from water. Good money in moving boats.

The fun of watching newbies do heavy haul or oversize loads. You have alot to learn but that will come with experience. I am still learning and been at it for 35+ years. Main thing is to give your rig the fuel and get out of the way or slow down and get out of the way. Being a rolling road block is just insane and unprofessional.

Now I've never hauled oversize loads,I do pneumatic work,but I will say I've seen drivers hauling huge fan blades and they do the exact same thing,sounds like pillow drivers in these comments but hey it got done safe and sound,and I believe they have a certain window time before they have to shut down.DO YALLS THANG OUT THERE!!!HIGH RESPECT TO TIM AND STEVE!!!

As someone who used to own / operate a Pilot / Escort service (and also an ex-truck driver pulling oversize loads much larger than this little boat) - this is probably one of the worst examples of unsafe operation I have ever seen. If we behaved like this on the road, we'd lose our licence. Hell - at least learn how to operate a bloody radio before you start. I can pick so many things that were done wrong that I thought the whole video must have been put up as a joke. There's a reason why some truckers are given the name "cowboys". "Professional" truck drivers my ass.

Enjoy watching Steve but this video is hard to watch. I do heavy haul every day and watching them block traffic so that Tim can pass trucks is unbelievable, unprofessional, and just rude. If you were one of the cars that were stuck behind Steve you would be furious. we are not out here to inconvenience traffic. If we can help it, there was absolutely no sense in that!

Hi Steve. Hey don’t know what you’re running for a radio but if it’s a Stryker or Connex type radio, if you’re running full transmit power, running that close you will overload receive on most Cobra radios when you talk. My suggestion would be to turn down transmit power to minimum and turn down Mike gain to minimize forward gain.. Keep that shiny side up and keep on truckin'! 73’s

Is, that true I'm seeing some people say it was ok for Tim/Steve to block both lanes but personally I've never that seen that only time, I saw a pilot car block the road is when a oversize load is turning or if it's a small road where it's dangerous to pass. I'm not a trucker just asking because I see alot of angry comments on the vid.

@@thanors2 No, the insurance companies say YIELD THE RIGHT-of-WAY. On the interstate and highway roads the larger vehicles must yield the right a-way to the smaller vehicles per State Law. On Oversized loads the escort vehicles can no longer block traffic from passing, they can use Signs like Stop Signs or Slow signs with his left hand holding the sign out the window to warn drivers, then radio to the Semi driver to wait until traffic passes, but they can no longer impede traffic. Only State Troopers can impede traffic.

Aussie pilots can block traffic lanes. control traffic lights at intersections and do anything needed to control traffic around a oversized load. other traffic users need to be patient and use brains to not endanger lives of others. What should be made illegal is running oversized loads only during busy daylight hours.. people should be jailed in USA for being so stupid causing traffic chaos at the bussiest times is beyond stupidity..

I’m not gonna lie. I completely understand what the goal is here and what you guys are trying to accomplish. But real quick I’m a big fan and long time follower man. I also drive and hope to run into you and Orwell one day. Love the channel! But like I was saying there was entirely too many places for you guys to let people pass. You guys did not handle that well at all. That was just a tad too aggressive with the movements. You should have just gotten on the straighter parts and slowed down until the group was past and then sped back up. Like I said love the channel and I will continue watching as I always do as normal! They have permits to hog the road. Oversized loads needs state issued permits, and those permits explicitly spell out every mile of each road that load has to travel on. If the Trucker strays from that route, the permits are voided, and fines in the $10000 to $50000 range are applied. The permits also spell out the need for escort vehicles. Those escort vehicles are granted rights to the road only matched by emergency services vehicles.

I was looking forward to reading the comments on this video because I knew there would be many who would say they were doing it all wrong. When driving such an oversized load, and the permits are in order, you cannot drive to the side all the time to let others pass. Tim has his time limits that he has to meet. When Tim himself drives past, he does so when he feels it is safe, then he is in control. He lets others pass when he himself feels it is safe.

Had to do a lot of refrigerated freight out of there and one of the cold storage warehouses I frequented had information posted from the local police 🚔 that they would issue you a ticket if the snow wasn't cleared off of your trailer and have seem people get popped for that. 😊

Pennsylvania law requires ALL snow and ice to be removed off a vehicle. Obviously you see it all the time, but it can result in a ticket and of course liability if ice blows off and causes damage or a crash.

Here Pilot vehicles control the traffic by blocking lanes if need to for the safety of all around. stop traffic at busy intersections and control traffic lights if need to I see much wrong in this video and especially the stupidity of yanks running wideloads only during busy daylight hours.. it is hilarious you block peak hour traffic and then ban running at night during quiet times that effect less people and less dangerous. Tim and Steve have many miles and many trips hauling oversized. Keeping everyone and the load safe is priority over anyones emotions. Clear visibility combined with straight road and NO obstacles to interfere with yraffic flow is priority above anything. The tailgating 18 was wrong because professionals are NEVER to intentionally crowd anyone at anytime. The wind turbulance with an over wide, over length and over height is about 10 times the deflection intencity as a normal dry van. Tim could easily blow an empty tractor trailer off the road if conditions were not monitored for safety. Steve keeping agressive drivers off of Tim is a brave task and he knew to inform Tim of possible road rage. Rooster has more than enough horses to maintain legal speed limit and garantee he NEVER inpeaded traffic that was traveling legal speed. Haters spouting are like water off a ducks back. They do NOT influence professionas in the slightest. I also am very experience with over size farm equipment on busy 2 lane country roads. I do NOT yeild to on coming traffic until they stop. Then and only then do I move to the right, then I stop. I am NOT moving when they pass. When traffic comes in behind me, I pull over at the first wide place for them to pass safely while I am stopped. Hauling oversized takes gonads the size of Texas. Scoffers have never approached me to spout their emotions.

There is no reason for throttle-limited equipment to be running that route in the first place. Also you tune and set up a truck to do what you need it to do properly.
