We’re going to do an indoors video this time.... proceeds to backpack tent camp toting his own homemade Chez Forest ramen noodles from his homemade fabricated dehydrator meal and eats it overlooking a mountain paradise. Makes me feel like such a sofa snail... but a Foresty Forest sofa snail so that makes me a winner so rise up inner mountain snail and hit that Like button. 👍
I love your DIY attitude! It’s so easy to think we have to buy things that we could actually make or do ourselves and learn something and save money to boot!!
So just spitballing here, raffle off a Tour wIth Foresty, Cooking, Camping and Seeing How It Is Done. The Logistics are, provide your own Transport, Tent, cookware and stuff, Foresty teaches you to be a Travel Ninja!
I'm pretty darn certain that none of us subscribers would have an issue with two new videos per week(hint hint). You are just too damn entertaining bro!!!
Very interesting lesson on food dehydration and the on going wonders of aluminum foil. Your life style is a great example of 'waste not - want not". Reminds me of President Coolidge a very wise President who said: "Use it up, Wear it Out. Make it Do or Do Without." You are well prepared to be able to survive through storms or times of economical depressions.
Get yourself a food saver vacuum sealer unit. It uses special vacuum sealer bags but you can reuse those bags. Cook everything up, let it cool and throw it in a bag and vacuum seal. I use it all the time so that I can make my own recipes. Since they’re already partially to fully cooked, they heat up easily and quickly. You can also use it by throwing your favorite cuts of meat in the bag with a favorite marinade. The results are always A+ !!
Try new things, take chances and live life the motto of forestry forest! You do more in your van than most people with full garage with tools!! Love it!!!
That was pretty cool for sure. Looked good. Can you imagine the smells coming out of your van? Every bear in the territory will be coming over. Take care and stay safe, Al
There are three channels where I voluntarily watch the full ads; Foresty and Iohan Gueorguiev, alongside NBJS (Erik Aanderaa) they’re, in my humble opinion, the best YT creators and deserve every single cent of ad revenue.
I too will offer my place to build for Forest even though I think he should keep the van. I have all the tools and space here in Mono Ontario. Forests videos are like no others. All real shit no fancyness just great person and great attitude.
If every subscriber contributed 25 cents he would have more than enough $44K+ to buy a van. Maybe we should set-up a GoFundMe to get the donations coming in!
I paused at 1:11 because I recognised the style of that big technical drawing from my time working at a nuclear power station here in the UK. They have those drawings on the wall to help us technicians find the correct plant to work on. Turns out that is a diagram of THE reactor that I worked at for the past 6 years! HYB/XXX at the start of the drawing number means Heysham B aka Heysham 2 nowadays - I was born 20 minutes from there. I recently left that job and I'm excited to start living the van life.. my two worlds just collided!
I think you’re right about the van builds and switching it up every now and then. I discovered you because I was wondering if anyone ever did a build out of a minivan. I stuck around because you make cool videos. So builds are most likely to bring you new subscribers and Patreons!
Looking at this level of build quality now as a draft, and the years of living in it and thinking about it, it's scary to know what he might come up with next from scratch. I would miss this van and i don't even live in it lol, but change for the better.
Very creative dehydrator and it folds flat! If you place the chicken in water first it will hydrate then it can be added in boiling water with the veggies. The noodles last as they cook just by looking at them! Great experiment ! Take care 🇨🇦 ❤️
Thanks for the gps navigation info! I went back and watched 20 videos because I couldn’t remember which one it was in! Just as fun to watch the 2nd time. You are living the life! Cool dehydrator too!
Nice little invention there! Like you say, dehydrate while you are heating in the winter months. I’ve never really given dehydrated food that much attention apart from the packet soups and noodles. Have to look into the lifespan of bags/jars of it for emergency rations, too. Tricky choice with older/new vehicles. I find more satisfaction with fixing up an older one but you need the reliability, too. I think you are golden with the one you have for now, seems to be serving you well and adds to the appeal of the channel. A shiny new one puts a different light on things, maybe. Thanks for the upload! 👍🏻
Forestry forest, you rock, I really like how you go" all in" with whatever your doing, I look forward to your videos , hope your having fun, good luck !
like you said get the most out of this but I could totally see you in a nice expedition rig. upgraded comfort and more places to see. I mean look what you did with that tiny mini van
I know you don't need any advice from me, but my only advice would be to make sure that meat is totally, fully and completely dry. The meat will be the problem if you have one at all. But dehydrated meals are the best. Glad I found your Channel. Have enjoyed many of them so far, and I'm working on seeing them all.
In 2017 I had a Dodge Caravan and lived in AB under -50c. Now I have a Chevy Cubevan that I converted to a Stealth RV. Only con on the new build is fuel economy, but what a living difference... New build is powered by 1,200 watt of solar with Air Con!
Foresty Forest wisdom helped me reassess the scope of the 1986 Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties Between States And International Organizations...
Your van is awesome so please don't change it. And yes van life is great but fat bike touring you tube content is a must too. Looking forward to watch your next outdoor videos.
Forest aka Jessie I love that you rigged that all on your own to make what you needed. You should write a book. Next time you're in town or city take a look for a bulk food store, they typically carry dehydrated foods. I love buying berries to add to my water or cereal when I'm looking for extra treats. They would be great for you. I wish you could get a PO box so we could send you stuff. Stay safe, have fun and live your best life. 😊😘💛💗🙏🏼
Keep the van yes :D .. I freaking love it. Everyone has those big ass vans and trucks and I dont know what..RVs.. I just love it that you did this into a minivan Edit: HAHAHA...."alright Jesse, lets cook!"
Your videos are like a good friend's invitation for a cup of coffee and a chat. Thinking about moving to Canada from Europe because of your content. Keep going P.S. I think that some bicycle content would be cool
Ground lean turkey dehydrates well. After you cook it, rinse it with hot water to remove the fat as that is what turns rancid. Then spread it out on the dehydrator. The small crumbles will dehydrate quicker and re-hydrate quicker.
When you were considering the ninja foodie I felt so bad for the crock pot from the thrift store. I'm so glad you didnt replace the good ol' crock pot!! She's done you well! :)
We’re big fans of your channel - love both the hikes and the cooking. It so impressive that you take the time to cook decent stuff and not live on takeaways which I’m sure I would be doing. I used to be a food inspector though and just wanted to say that it might be an idea to look into whether the diesel heater might pass contaminants into the food (specifically dioxins). We had a couple of food recalls in Europe from diesel heaters drying food. Not saying it will or has - just wanted to mention it. Stay safe.
Couple hours before u r going to eat, put water in the Ziploc bag. It is quicker to cook. My grandmother used to dehydrate Apples and peaches every year just on top of the garage in pillow cases. We live near Memphis where it is 90 or above every day in July and August. She would use these in pies in the winter. I always thought it was weird, but when I started hiking it made more sense.
Prepare the meat before you start the hike. put it in a watertight container to rehydrate while you hike. Or simpler, just add water to everything and let it soak while you hike. After a few hours it will all be rehydrated and ready to heat.
Might I recommend COOL IT thermo wrap? It’s good to 2000 degrees. You can find it at any automotive store or amazon, it will last longer than foil and might keep that cardboard from burning - love the channel ;)
You should try manifold cooking. Wrap food up in aluminum foil and then place it on your exhaust manifold when you're driving. Works great with the right stuff.
Foresty1 A helpful hint for you. If you use the dehydrator again you also can do more if you add a second layer with your other grill. As long as you leave space between the layers you can do more at one time. . Keep up the videos I look forward to them Stay safe
Next time, if you would like more nutrients out of your dried meal, add buckwheat instead of the noodles. Buckwheat is the staple of high nutrient low cost soviet Era food. Its also super compact. Tastes good too.
@@andresil8330 Some types of buckwheat have different tastes. I thought the same until my mother-in-law found a Lithuanian brand (forget the name), which was really good. Add mushrooms, onions, spices and sometimes seasoning.. Quinoa mixed with buckwheat is also good
