I’m watching like ALL and I mean ALL of your video and trust me these videos are better than some makeup courses that I’ve done! You’ve gave me so many tips !! I can’t wait to do makeup on my brides 😍😍
Hi Julie! I know this video is a little older, but curious if you've ever used the RCMA as concealer with the FA? I carry RCMA in my kit and am thinking about adding FA (mostly because of your videos and Angie's!) ! I've heard other artists say the two formulas work well together but I'm not 100% sure.
Oh man you did find an old video! Haha I personally didn’t like using the RCMA under the eyes. It’s too dry of a formula. Layered with the FA for a spot concealer on the face is good though :)
I’ve used the RCMA foundation palette and I love it. My only concern is that on oily skin it’s really hard to make the skin matte with powder. Also the primer and moisturizer I use is oil free too. Please let me know if you have any advice!
Honestly, I don’t really work with my cream palettes super often because of that reason! The only time I’ll use them is if I need a fuller coverage foundation. If you have a more matte foundation, I would use that instead of the RCMA, but if it’s your only foundation in your kit then you may want to try cleaning your client’s face off with a micellar water first. This removes excess oils off the skin so you aren’t trapping oils in between the makeup. Also, avoid silicone based primers. They sometimes can tend to make cream foundations to “slippery” and won’t adhere to the skin correctly. Last tip would be to use a damp sponge and gently press in loose powder as opposed to just dusting it over the face with a powder brush. Hope this helps!
I clicked on this video because I have both the Face Atelier and the RCMA in my kit. The RCMA has expired, so I am hoping to find a more matte foundation for my kit. Any advice? I've had the same issues with cream foundations. Thank you for a great video!
Hi Julie! I’m so glad I found your channel! I’m ready to branch out on my own instead of working for a Brand, and your videos are BEYOND helpful! Do you have any Certification suggestions? I don’t want to get a full aesthetician license just to do makeup, but I’d like to take a quick course that I can do online to learn color theory. Do you have a videos where you’re mixing and applying? Like a Master class for color theory? TIA! 😉
Thank you so much!! Hopefully you’ve checked my current videos as well. A lot less awkward! 😂😂 I personally did the Online Makeup Academy certification. I did a review video on my channel and put it under the “Business for Makeup Artist Playlist”. Also, double check that your state doesn’t require an estheticians license. Mine does so I’m going back to school to get it this year. I don’t have any videos on mixing as I’m thinking of selling these as courses in the future :)
Thanks Sabrina! I do have an updated video on my channel as this one is a couple years old now :) here is the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UCMqy27TciU.html For drugstore foundations, I really love the Maybelline Fit Me for a natural coverage then Milani Conceal & Perfect for more full coverage :)
Hi love,i’m watching all of your videos😍 do you prefer born this way or tart concealer for clients? Since i’m making my kit on budget, i want a product which can do both full coverage and also good for mature skin. Some people say tart is so drying and messing with fine lines
Hi! Thank you for such a great video!! I also love the Too Faced Concealers. Do you think it would be a good concealer to pair with the Face Atelier foundation or would it not since it is a silicone based foundation?
Hi Karina! I'm so glad you loved the video :) To be honest, I haven't found anything that the FA foundation doesn't pair well with! I always use it with the TF concealers and it works out perfectly!
Are you talking about the cream concealers? If so, you have to always depot those by scooping them into a palette. Alcohol can’t penetrate creams so just spraying them down won’t sanitize them.
Hi Julie, I'm in the process of downsizing my kit before I damage my poor back! lol! Please can you tell me what you've found best in your experience to depot liquid foundations..do I go for the dropper bottles or the pump ones like the FA foundation...I love the FA foundation but get frustrated when I get to the bottom of the plastic pump bottles and struggle to get the product out. I then end up unscrewing it to tip out and pour out too much product. Thank you for your time. :)
Hi Jo! Yes downsizing is literally a game changer! I personally like the squeeze bottles better bc of the same reason you mentioned. I hate the airless pump bottles or even regular pump bottles bc they get clogged or I can’t get the product out. This video is older so I have converted my liquids into different bottles. Here are the ones I’ve really been loving: amzn.to/3rQrdcF
Thanks for the video! I want to start freelancing and I've been doing a bit of research on foundation palettes. You mention the Rcma, would you recommend for beginners or the graftobian ?
Glad you enjoyed it!! To be honest, I haven’t tried Graftobians palette but to my knowledge it’s very similar to the RCMA they’re just different brands :)
love these videos, they are so helpful! I bought the rcma foundation palette recently for my kit and I just got a couple shades of the face atelier foundations bc of this video!
Yay! I’m so glad to hear that these videos are helpful to you :) You’ll definitely have to let me know how you like the RCMA palette and the Face Atelier foundations. Definitely essential foundations for any makeup artist ❤️
This may be a really dumb question, but how do those compact foundation pallets work? It doesn’t seem like it’s enough product to last long at all, but I know they’re “concentrated”. Does that mean a tiny bit spreads a long way? Or do you mix into something else? I’ve just always been curious how they’re used!
That's not a dumb question at all! I wondered the same thing before I got mine lol Long story short, super concentrated means that the opacity/coverage is much greater than most foundations. You need a pea sized amount and apply it with a brush. It is super emollient so it can spread really easily and cover larger surface areas. I know most pro foundation brands that have cream palettes like RCMA and Graftobian have foundation mixers that you can mix into them to make the creams more of a liquid consistency. I just use the creams alone, but that's definitely an option! I hope this answered your question :)
With A LOT of patience and time 🤣I removed the stopper and started scooping. Although I took them out of my kit for a while and just recently added them again. I am buying the mini sizes now so I don’t have to keep depotting them :)
Hi i am just beginner, i liked ur video. Can you please guide me as i am starting so what color foundation should i get in maybelline, any 3 or 4 shades that i can mix together and make different shades. Thank you!
Hi Saba Jan! Thank you so much :) I’m honestly not super familiar with the specific colors for Maybelline. I would just make sure to get some yellow & pink undertones and some that are fair all the way up to deep tones to start with!
Those are definitely tricky! Depending on how deep the lines are it sometimes can't be fixed to be honest. The best advice I can give is to just make sure to blend out any foundation/concealer sitting in the line before you set it with powder. However, makeup will naturally crease which is normal.
FA is literally the best! I made a video not to long ago updating this one. Here is the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UCMqy27TciU.html
Why when I watch I hear what your saying but it just goes all in one ear and out the other!!! IM SO SAD. UGH, can’t wait until all this makes sense to me. Love your vid! X
To be totally honest, I just mostly use my liquids! The only time I ever use creams is if I want to spot conceal or cover up scars, bruises, tattoos, etc. Use what you are most comfortable with :)
Hi Karina! The Face Atelier foundations are silicone based so they will mix well with any other foundations (at least all common ones I've found!). The mix really well with any of the MAC, NARS, or Estee Lauder foundations!
It depends where you work! When I worked at MAC, they provided our brush belts and we just used testers for the applications. However, now that I'm in business for myself, I of course had to purchase everything myself, but you can apply for pro discounts from a ton of different brands if you qualify.
Are you referring to the Vueset palette? It's the plastic palette with dividers. If so, I got it off of Camera Ready Cosmetics. It's called the Vueset Tahiti palette. I've since switched to different containers, but these are very handy to have!
The color will vary depending on which concealer and which brand it is! If you go into Sephora or an ULTA store, any of the associates can match you :)
Blushed Makeup & Beauty Bar So MACs color system is actually backwards from what you would normally think. So NC is neutral cool (their yellow tones) & NW is neutral warm (they classify those as the pink undertones).
So what about the cool tones? So confused lol I need to order some more foundation for my kit and I want Mac and just got the pro discount and I’m like huh so backwards lol
@@blushedbridal The cool tones are NW it’s really hard to explain over messaging! Here’s a quick key: N- Neutral NC- Golden/Yellow C- Yellow/orange tones NW- Pink/Beige tones
It’s from NYX! It’s exactly what it sounds like. It adds more of an olive tone to foundations and it’s a miracle! Face Atelier also has an olive mixer as well :)
I don’t currently have F& B in my kit but I used to! I carried C1, C3 & C4. Then N1 & N5. I work on light to tan skin tones so you may have to get different shades depending on the skin tones you work on!
I have worked on multiple skin tones including those of POC. It’s not that I don’t book those clients so please do not take it that way. I don’t have control over my clientele and who decides to book me and I will physically take anyone if I’m available. More often than not, I have lighter to tan skinned clients book with me which is why my portfolio and my kit reflect this. It is not being prejudice or anything. I just cannot afford to keep products in my kit that would just go bad from me not using it on the daily if that makes sense.
Hi! If you are looking for more affordable foundation and concealer options, Maybelline, Milani, L'oreal, and Revlon do a really amazing job! You can also try looking up "affordable makeup artist kit" on RU-vid. I know I've found great video with more affordable options before :)
Not sure what you mean? The majority of the clients that hire me are between Light to tan skin tones but I do carry all foundation shades. This video is also 2 years old as well. I just don’t stock a ton of deeper colors bc they would expire before I got a chance to use them all up. I do carry a really deep NARS foundation as of now. Please check my updated video on this :)
