We built it one year ago and it still steady and leveled

currently looking to build a ramp with friends. lots of discussion going on about the best radi for a 4 ft ramp.

I know 1/4" plywood will bend like that, especially if you get it a little damp before screwing it down. I'm curious if 3/8" plywood will? Guess I'll have to find out

it's smarter to build the two ramp sections separately and use a large bolt or a bunch of screws to join them

You shouldn't have to worry about doing that unless the ramp you're tying to build is over 6 feet wide if so every 6 feet you should section it

I feel your pain mate, I live on the west coast of Scotland so it's always wet here. Did you paint it before assembly or after? I know it will die, but I'm so tempted to do it again but paint every inch of it all after cutting. It's the hope that kills you haha.

Looks like Gator Skins. There's only a couple outdoor wood skate surfaces on the market, Skatelite and GatorSkins, probably more, but those are the only two I've heard of in my research on making my own miniramp... Gatorskins is a bit cheaper than Skatelite.

@@brocmt No Way thats Gator Skins or Skatelite with a $1,500 build cost. That's plywood, probably marine grade birch. That's what I'm putting on mine

@@whitneylemelin7400 I can't afford the pro stuff either - my plan is to lay down my heavy ply layers and then run a layer of tar paper over it, and finally skin it with 1/4" birch ply - that way when the rain eventually wrecks the top I can just peel off the thin top layer and everything underneath it will be protected by the tar paper and I just just reskin the top with the cheaper thin stuff. I'm also going to try to keep it tarped when it rains but that can be a pain in the ass

@@TheIronDuke9 Remember you're going to have hundreds of screw holes in the tar paper for water to leak through. We Thompson sealed all our substructure and sub layers

Eliminating perpendicular seams makes for a smoother ride. However, that was entirely negated by only using one layer of plywood under the top layer.

Exactly as you say, make it all even. You can do it also with jigsaw only
