Hi. Just trying to wrap my brain around your method. You used no fabric as a base for your patch, correct? So the stitching is using the plastic to hold it. Also, what do you do about the plastic on the back? Does the HeatNBond Ulta ( or what ever iron on you are using) hold to the plastic on the back?
Nope no fabric just tear away and the plastic can stay when you are doing a solid filled patch with stitches because nothing but bobbin thread is left to see on the back. I'm here to help if you need me. Thanks for watching!
I have tried this method as well with the same wt plastic but I find that my patch is tearing away as the needle penetrates which result in an uneven border. What density do you use for the satin stitch? Thanks
I make patches, too and I was wondering about using iron-on backing. Wouldn't the plastic melt when applying the bond and when I attach it to a garment?
I use tweezers and remove the plastic. The patch is flimsy unless you digitize a fill stitch with about the desity of a grid or use a cotton buckram stabilizer found at Joann's made by Pellon. Follow up questions welcome😁
