Making a dual granular delay preset with freeze on Poly Effects Digit / Beebo from scratch. I tried to show what can be done with basic building blocks like effects modules, control modules such as LFOs, and footswitches without making things too complicated. If you own a Digit or Beebo you can use this preset as a starting point and then use different LFOs, change connections or routing, assign footswitches to different parameters etc. and create your own sound.
The parts where I edit is sped up to keep the video relatively short and easy to follow but if it is too fast, try changing the playback speed.
This pedal was provided by Poly Effects for the video.

Excellent video. The random LFO/granular combo on it's own would be worth the price of entry alone, gorgeous!

What an awesome in depth video. Very interested in getting a Poly and exploring the possibilities.

Agreed w other comments, this is SUPER helpful. Would love to see something like this for setting up a drum beat or some other using Beebo as an instrument itself type of preset (with controllers).

Thanks! Yeah I can probably do that. First I need to learn more about those modules, though.

Whaou.. Amazing pedal, and great tutorial ! Gotta couple of questions if you don't mind. Seems like the editing is made a bit more comfortable than on the Zoia (though I havent tried one so far) would you say so ? Which one do you prefer for this kind of ambient sounds ? Is there any difference in terms or stereo image ? Is the stereo field a parameter than one can modify ? Cheers

Thanks! The interface is really different than ZOIA but I'm not sure which one you would consider better or more comfortable. Both are very capable pedals and would allow you to create lots of different sounds. I can't say one has better stereo field than the other. It's very easy to change that since left and right paths can be routed independently. If you're not satisfied with the stereo image, just putting a very subtle full wet delay or vibrato on one side would help you get a wider sound. This is possible with both pedals. ZOIA has a great community and they share really good patches. Digit/Beebo is constantly being updated with new effects and features based on user feedback. Your preference between touchscreen vs button interface and active community vs active developer might help you decide on one.

@@DoNoise Thanks a lot for your answer, it boils down to these choices indeed :)

Having recently sold a Zoia, I can say that it has a terrible user interface for patching. And the patches you download from the community do not follow a set patching paradigm and it is very difficult to use them. Even your own patches become vague if you don’t use them for a few days, if you do not rename each module you patch (a tedious process). The idea is great but the implementation is terrible. And Empress hasn’t done a great job at eliminating bugs and delivering features they have promised. The poly-beebo looks more promising than the Zoia, but I haven’t used one. I think each pedal is now both poly and beebo, which means one can create crazy quad performance setups with IR reverbs and granulators. I wonder how powerful the CPU is.

@@KorhanErel Hey Korhan ! It's been a while since that free improv session with Fyodor and Lucas at the JIB ;) Didn't expect us to meet online checking pedal demos years after haha. You have a point. I think (wallet issues aside) that I'm seduced by the idea and the beautiful patches i heard, but the whole process of creating them and editing/recalling them could be a main hindrance to fully enjoy it..I don't know. And I guess it's not a pedal you can just quickly tweak when playing live. Maybe still worth it if you just download crazy patches that you recall via midi and that you know you won't modify too much while playing ? I don't know. Good that my wallet is empty, it's all theoretical anyway haha.

@@blendreed9474 oh hey! Yeah that session seems like decades ago now :) Well, I am sure there are happy users of the Zoia. I wasn’t one of them. I am not su sure of the beebo either, now being sceptical about any piece of equipment that tries to do a lot. At least it has a screen. But then, I have an ipad and the app AUM, that let’s me do more or less everything the beebo does. Yes the whole package is bigger, considering you need a separate audio interface for the ipad, but then, the ipad can actually do much more than the beebo. ;)

Hello, thanks!!! Do you know if you can connect an expression pedal? I don't think so...?

This is probably a silly question, but that stylus seems like a step up from the crappy throwaway types I typically see. Link to where I can get one? Love your demos!

Thanks! I don’t have a link unfortunately. I think someone gave it to me (or forgot it on my desk).
