Not impressed at all. At least he should use coins which are worn, not destroy an EF, VF or AU coin. Destroying a fine coin for a ring is gross. What man would even wear a ring, (like this) except for his own wedding band? Furthermore, all the beauty of the Morgan dollar is hidden when worn. He could have simply used a cheap silver round, not an historic US coin. What an idiot, he is!

Well done I know my brother-in-law made a ring for my sister using a silver quarter I think it was 1964 quarter because that was the year she was born? This was done over 35 years ago. He used a drill and a hammer to make the ring. He didn't have any press I know it took months to make. From the outside, You couldn't tell it was quarter but he still left the detail part of the detail of the quarter on the inside. She still wears it today. I know he worked hard to make it for her and I know she cherishes it over her wedding ring because he made it was not bought. Great video.

With intent to preserve coin details on either side of spinner. All in all, this is very cool process with all the dies I was not aware of. Or even an engagement ring. How cool if your significant other made you a ring! Anybody can go to a jewelry store and buy a ring depending on money. How many people said My hubby, lover, or significant other made me a ring. You would show it off to friends and family. If you have the money you could hire a jeweler to make you a one of a kind piece of jewelry But it still not as special as someone you know intimately cared enough to make it with his or her own hands.

@LunaStarFire
@LunaStarFire 5 лет назад
Hi mate, just some tips, 1. Use emery cloth or some wet and dry for a nice surface finish, just cut a long but narrow strip 2. Use the auto feed if your lathe has that option and when dealing with smaller pieces use the rpm closest to your finishing diameter or preferably switch it on the final pass. 2.1 likely your lathe cant spin fast enough, you can usually get new gears for the lathe to better suit the softer materials. 3. If you're using steel wool for the color then heat up the work first to better surface the material as it helps the material stick faster. 4. Rather than a deburing tool you might get a nicer edge using a deburing bit (using a dremel) or just using a radius bit on the lathe if you can. 5. You did a really nice job with what you made and you have some great tools =)
@LunaStarFire
@LunaStarFire 5 лет назад
Oh and you can use a soft wheel with emery cloth to get a nice finish and then use a buffing wheel with some polish to make it shine. A polishing wheel is amazing but it will show up every little imperfection that you rushed while sanding.

this video was my first time seeing a video on ring making, and I am in awe of the whole process and I know I want to take this up as a hobby. I can imagine I'm going to need to spend a pretty penny or two before I can start using them to make rings haha

Why are you turning over the whole ring instead of just turning the part for the inlay, this should look amazing too. Excuse my English, I'm from germany

That’s the whole point. This ring design just flows well. If the edges had designs it might have too much going on. And it’s a rare design because honestly, how many rings you know out there has designs on the inside?? Exactly. So it’s something you can show off a lil bit to friends and family and have them marvel at its design

Worry rings have been around forever. They are not even remotely a new thing and if anything the fidget spinner is based on a worry ring and not the other way around. Though I actually think the design of a fidget spinner was based on something other than a worry ring. In any case the spinning ring came, at minimum, a few decades before the Fidget spinner.
