This blanket chest is the fourth dimensional lumber piece for my dimensional lumber furniture set. My wife and I went back and forth on different sizes for the chest for a few days and finally settled on something similar in size to a sitting bench. I even contemplated upholstering the lid or finding a cushion to leave on top but ended up not going that route. I’ve made several tongue and groove projects in the past but this will be my first tongue and groove blanket chest. And I like the size of this one the most.

I really enjoyed that video. You are a great influence to the woodworking community. Thank you for the great projects you show us. My wife comes into the shop the other day as I squeezed the last clamp and asked what I was doing "I'm waiting for the glue to dry before the next step." She got this blank look, crossed her arms, leaned back and pretended to eat an apple, blankly staring at my project.

When making verticle cuts with a circular saw, I like to make down cuts, rather than up cuts. If you cut upwards the offcut will jam the saw as the cut closes up under it's weight. Jay knows this, when he performed a verticle cut on the ply sheet, he grabbed the offcut to take the weight. It's just safer to cut down though, because the cut opens up, instead of closing. I liked the video.

Love the cheap lumber and the way you basically make it all quartersawn by getting rid of the defects. Great work. You are definitely making me yearn for a domino; that thing saves time and the floating tenons are practically as strong as regular tenons; nice trade off in time to money saving ratio. The angled legs are sweet BTW. Love your channel, Jay! Oh and nice new jointer; saw that you snuk that in here. Maybe it was around earlier but it's the first I noticed it.
