One of Krispy Kreme's classics, the original Kreme filled donut is a simple glazed donut with a whipped cream filling. Made at home, it tastes even better.
Ingredients:
Donut:
30ml warm water (2 tbsp)
180ml whole milk (3/4 cup)
5g active dry yeast (1/2 packet)
35g sugar (3 tbsp)
1 egg
40g vegetable shortening (1/4 cup)
3g kosher salt (1/2 tsp)
320g all-purpose flour (2 2/3 cups), plus more for rolling
Ground nutmeg (optional)
Kreme filling:
50g sugar (1/4 cup)
30ml water (2 tbsp)
60ml canola oil (1/4 cup)
40g shortening (1/4 cup)
56g softened butter (half stick)
1 tsp vanilla
260g powdered sugar (2 cups)
Glaze:
130g powdered sugar (1 cup)
2 tbsp light corn syrup
1 tsp vanilla extract
Pinch salt
Whole milk until desired consistency
Extra powdered sugar and whole milk for icing stripes
