I like your video but may I suggest a re-write on the description of your sci-fi novel?

Sure, no problem. first to answer questions and then I will list steps: A) The amount of water you need depends on the number of syringes you want to make. So 10ml x # of syringes. But I always use a little more to make sure I have enough B) You add the spores AFTER you boil the water (and the water is cold). You boil it to kill the unwanted mold spores that might be in the water. C) Some people do not boil distilled water and that I'd probably fine since technically distilled water should be pure H2O. It depends on how much you trust the water bottling company. Okay, here are the steps: 1) boil water 2) remove water from heat 3) cover water (to limit new contaminats from falling in) 4) put water in fridge to cool quickly 5) scrap spores off tin foil into water (using a tool that you have disinfected with isopropyl alcohol) 6) take a new or sterilization syringe and suck up some of the liquid, then squirt it back out. Keep doing this until the spores are evenly distributed in the water (repeat this between syringes to make sure it stays mixed.) 7) suck well mixed spore solution into syringe until it is full. 8) repeat until you are out of syringes.

i use a water distiller my self i put tap water into it and it boils out all the water molecules and leaves pure h2o so keep it contained so other crap cant get into it , like punky said only put spores into cold never into hot water it will kill them

Mine were because of how I cull birds creating an air embolism. Its pretty quick but you need to be precise or it doesnt work.

Luer lock is the needles I am using. I didn't even realize they were on Amazon! The only ones I found on there was blunt "transfer" needles, instead of the stabby kind. Maybe I overlooked them. And, I find your air embolism method fascinating.

Punky Rooster I was very sad when I did the video, so until I redo a voice over for it I didnt want to make it public. I can make it so you can see it if you want to but I need an email to make it so you can see it.

I've never had an issues doing these things in open air. I sanitize all the surfaces and avoid drafty area with a lot of moving air. I recognize it's not perfectly clinical cleanliness, but for the everyday mushroom growers it doesnt make much difference.

Boil the water. Let it cool down in a closed container. Add spores to cooled water. Draw into syringes.

I've used city tap water without an issue. I do recommend you use as pure water as you can (RO filtered, distilled, etc.) But I'm honestly good ol' tap water was fine for me.

There are a lot of sites online that sell them. You should check out sites dedicated to that sort of mushroom. I don't grow those varieties, I grow culinary mushrooms.

You must let the water cool before adding the spores (hot water will kill the spores.) Use bottled distilled water to be sure.

Will do! This process has worked in the past. However, you never really know if a batch of spore syringes are viable until you can see result. :)

I like to keep my knives in good condition! Many will last for a long time. :)

The Instant Pot is too small for my purposes... and I am not 100% sure that Instant Pots get up to the right temps / pressure to can / sterilize. I'd do some research on that before you try it. The grain step needs to be truly sterile, in the more clinical sense. And you MIGHT be able to get spores from store bought mushrooms, but they are likely too old and have already dropped. Unless you buy some fresh from a farmer's market or something. If the store bought mushroom has "roots" (mycelium) still attached, you can cut those off and potentially create spawn from that, too. And, yes, you can totally MacGyver something like the mushroom kits. Some people put the straw substrate in plastic clothes baskets. But, as you said, I would definitely advise having some kind of cover that will keep dust off and keep humidity inside (but still allows airflow).

Punky Rooster yeah, I didn't think so either; and indeed, I looked it up and it has not been approved for pressure canning. Alas! But unsurprising I will keep an eye out for mushrooms at the farmers market then and see if they can tell me when they were harvested. Unfortunately, even though I live in Cali, in the Bay Area no less, it can still be difficult to find sourcing that I am satisfied with :/ Thank you SO MUCH! 💖💖💖💖
