Lots of trouble making this video :( First off I lost almost all the footage from the close up camera then 6 hours of editing trying to make it as good as possible... This is a lot of metal lathe work making a precession hole in a Chrome Steel precision ball... Tough stuff! Also took the PrimeWeld Mig Welder out on a job and played around some...

I saw Watch Wes Work use one of these, he said he made it but didn't go into it. I always wondered how it was made and worked. Thanks!

I like Wes's design much better than the original. But I also would have liked to have seen him finish it AND demonstrate how to use it. I even sent him an email asking about it and he never replied.

1/4-32, 1/4-36, and 1/4-40 have all been used in instrumentation and can drive you nuts. Compare the thread to 10-32, 8-36, and 4-40 screws to get the pitch. My eyes are getting older so I have to use a loupe.

You need to get a cheap metric screw pitch gauge, the brass screws could easily be 6x0.5 or 6x0.75mm pitch. I also have a Whitworth as they come up more often than you would expect (even Honda were using 1/8" Whitworth thread in late 1970's)

Like you mentioned earlier it was getting through that chrome layer where all the hardness is that made your tooling sing.

Steve, a 1/4" x 32 would indicate it may be a Whitworth form(55 degree) Model Engineers thread, used here in the UK and elsewhere. I don't think they do it in a 60 degree form, but I'm not sure about that. I bought the other week a 5/16x40 ME HSS tap for around £12 GBP off of eBay, so if you had to buy one it wouldn't be too spiteful a price. Shipping might be expensive though even if it was a postal job in a Jiffy bag.

Steve, Don will need to watch Kurtis if he needs his chip making fix, especially since Karen’s shots of chip roll-off is so cinematic…..he just needs to get that satisfied so he doesn’t defect from watching your videos! Is the ball full fledged bearing quality for use in a ball bearing? Interesting process to bore it despite its hardness! Thank you Randy

How is the Rock?

@10swatkins 6 месяцев назад
Rock 2 has 111,680 miles today.... Still have plenty of brake pad life..... Only regular oil changes, three sets of tires, lots of fuel filters NO trips trips a dealer for any issues... About normal for all the last 8 trucks with the exception of the Rock.

Steve, don't fall into the trap of "shorts" - shorts are dumb - just do long form videos. If I wanted useless "shorts", I'd be on the tweeter or the tok tik (and I am not)
@10swatkins
@10swatkins 6 месяцев назад
I have over 400 videos on the channel and 8 of them are shorts! Can't promise there won't be more but they are far between and an effort to get more people to watch.. I put one hell of a lot of effort and time into these videos and not many views make me not want to put out the effort.

@@10swatkins A lot of channels seem to get stuck at the ~10k subscriber count for a while - but honestly, those are the ones doing the best content! If you stick with it, eventually the algorithm will randomly recommend a video of yours to a bunch of new people, and it will grow big time! Somehow lately, it's been recommending a lot of super small channels to me (like 2k subs) and they have some pretty great videos. I've been subbing to new channels like crazy lately

RU-vid is pushing Shorts. Keep in mind your effort is their product and you'll do as they say. 🤷
