Are you thinking about making the SWITCH? Are you changing your racquet? Well, it can be a process worth putting some extra effort into. I consulted my friend Daniel Rutkowski, who wanted more power than his Prince Phantom 93P 18x20 could bring him and these are the results...

Lots of 93p user here I see haha. Also had the 93p and switched. I absolutely love the racquet, but on clay or outdoor/windy conditions is so punishing... I use the head gravity pro with added tailweight now. Plenty of control and bigger sweetspot but I miss a lot the feel, especially the tiny orgasm when you are hitting clean and penetrating with the 93p, but it is not always that you can play indoor+are not having a bad day. I am defo more effective with the gravity.

I think it's a great stick to train with on occasions, to force one to focus on footwork and hitting a clean shot. Then carry that over with one's regular playing stick.

Interesting switch from the 93P to the TC97. I have a somewhat similar path, where I just found the 93P too challenging and tiring. I tried the Dunlop CX200 Tour 16x19 on Jonas advice, but could never really gel with that frame. Then, I convinced myself that I needed to switch to 100 sq.in. frame for additional tolerance and power, and I landed on an Angell TC100 63RA 16x19. Brilliant racquet, loads of power despite the soft RA, but almost too much at times, as the launch angle is quite high due the very open pattern. Also, I was breaking massively more than with any other frames. A Hyper G or Confidential in gauge 16 would barely last me 4-5 hours before breaking. After exchanging with Paul Angell, I eventually bought a couple of TC95 63RA 16x19. While not quite as powerful as the TC100, it is significantly more so than the 93P, with a much larger sweet spot, and not quite as tiring as I chose specs of 310g / 315mm. And my strings now last around 10 hours. So it's a happy medium for me.

just ordered the tc95 16x19! Super excited to receive it - got it in 330g, 12pt HL. Any other comments you have about it, especially what strings and tension to get would be great

@@ervinlee8324 Hi Ervin. The 16x19 string pattern of the Angell's is really open, which naturally provides good tolerance and a high launch angle. But I found that an aggressive shaped poly like a Hyper G or Confidential would increase the launch angle to the point where it can be a bit erratic. This is noticeable in both the TC100 and TC95. I think that one is better off playing a round poly in these frames. As durability was also an issue with Hyper G and Confidential (massive notching), I initially went with 4G 16 (1.30) strung at 50lbs mains / 48lbs crosses (dropping a couple of lbs on the crosses minimizes notching). This had good durability, great control and good spin (for a round poly), but I found it a bit harsh on the arm. So I went for 4G Soft 16L (1.25) at 50/48, which is just about perfect for my game, and the comfort is markedly better. I feel I could also drop it to 48/46 for a bit more pop and additional plushness. I hope this helps. Also, I noticed you picked a pretty heavy static weight / very HL spec for your TC95. Are you aware that they typically swing higher than other racquets at similar specs, due to the foam filled construction? My TC95 16x19 63RA 310g / 9pt HL has a SW measured at 303 unstrung, which puts the strung SW just above 330. This is what I would have expected from a 320g / 9-10pt HL frame, and while I can handle it, I would not have wanted it any higher.

@@johnnyguitar6697 thanks a ton for the info! Do you find that you’re able to swing fully or do you have to hold back a bit at that tension? How is the control of the 16x19?
@johnnyguitar6697
@johnnyguitar6697 3 года назад
@@f5ervin I have no issue swinging fully with the TC95 strung with 4GS at 50/48. Great control, despite the open 16x19 pattern. I couldn't swing as freely with the TC100 with Hyper G / Confidential 16 at 54/52, the ball would sail long unless I put a lot of spin and shape on my shots. The TC95 is a good compromise, for me, in that it it's easy to impart spin if required, but also very good at driving flatter shots. Even at 310g / 9pt HL, it has very good plow through.

I think he should have tried the yonex vcore pro. I have multiple rackets (pro staff 90, head prestige 93, prince rebel 95, vcore pro 97, Wilson pro staff 97, head extreme 98, yonex ezone 98, clash 98, clash 100, prince Phantom 100) And of the rackets above 95 inch ² the vcore pro 97 has the best feel and control. I'm still trying all my rackets

Daniel, Velocity MLT is quite muted. Try Tecnifibre Multifeel. I was in the same boat as you with the ProStaff 90, switching to the Vcore Pro 97 HD. I can tell you Velocity is garbage in a muted frame like ours but works fine in the PS90.

Are there any disadvantages if I string my racket (95D) mains with Gut @ 62 and crosses with Hyper G @ 48, should the difference be withing 4 pounds or it doesn't matter?
@miguelbarahona6636
@miguelbarahona6636 3 года назад
Always string the stiffer string looser. In your case, the Hyper G should be looser. I would say 2-4 lbs máx difference between the looser and the tighter string. In that way you won't deform the head.

I would expect poor durability from a gut in the mains and a square poly in the crosses. The crosses will literally saw in the mains. You'd be much better off with a round poly in the crosses.

16x19 more open pattern and for a guy like that maybe too powerful and not enough touch. Even i struggle with it's power. Vcore pro 97 has better touch and more balanced frame

@@a2casius I'm not saying the ezone 98 isn't a great racket, is great.. that's why it is in my bag. But if your current racket is a prince 93, then the ezone 98 is not the obvious step, but the vcore pro 97 is. Or one of those new head radicals 360+ 98 Babolat rackets generally are way stiffer than a prince 93, so that is why i wouldn't look into that brand. In Wilson i think the blade as it is a bit more flex than the pro staff which is on the stif side. And as he liked the 18x20 pattern. The vcorepro 97 hd has that same pattern
