I suspect that the reason the filter is so difficult to remove is actually noise control. I have one of those, manufacturing date is October 2008 (it's written on the metal plate on the side). The filter is closer to the motor, but when the plastic shroud around the motor vibrates it often hits against the filter housing and makes a heck of a racket. Eventually they started extending the pipe to give a greater distance between the motor shroud and the filter, but now it's too close to the frame and removal is difficult.
Glad you haven’t had a flat, considering the tires are most definitely solid. 😝 I just bought one, but I’m kinda skeptical of the 3.0HP claim considering the energy limitations of 120V@15A, but hey...until they offer a 240V in a smaller size, what can ya do? 🤷🏻♂️
Purchased one, great compressor. By any chance does your pressure knob unscrew all the way like my does ? Curious before I call Makita. Thx again for compressor review.
@@larsonhomeinspection9932 Anyhoo, I ended up buying the Makita because we beat some tools at work and it’s like a test. The Makita takes a beating and keeps going. Great review.
That's a really nice compressor especially at that price . i wanted one but it wasn't available in Germany , where i live . i found a german company that makes one with identical power and tank , but the makita has a way tires, frame and handle .
I know it says it weighs 88lbs. So how heavy is it for maneuvering around a house up and down stairs for frame and trim work. Loading and unloading into the back of a truck? Thanks
@Jonathan what makes it light is its wheels that you can roll up and down the stairs, no need to lift. For truck or van, if it’s difficult to lift for you, you can always acquire loading ramp.
Will it be able to handle an impact wrench don’t use it daily by any means but when I rotate my trucks and the wife’s tires, and constantly changing tires on the atvs
Ive had both this and the the rolair vt25big. I gotta say frame design is better hands down on the rolair.. that stupid prominent handle in front of the tank is a nuisance when stowing it, and the kick latch for the folding handle on the rolair is so nice. Also, I believe the rolair is a 100% duty. I don't believe the compressor is a "big bore" on the mak, it takes about the same time to fill. I sold the mak
I felt the need to see and research this Rolair. From the little research that I did, I admit that you are right. Yes it is a continuous duty cycle, but at what cost? This unit is 4 times the cost of the Makita. The Rolair is like Snap On , they guarantee their product knowing that many tool owners will not abuse their tools, but will use them diligently. Because most tool owners do not want the hassle of running around to get them serviced or replaced. So although you are correct, in my honest opinion this is not a fair comparison…
@@pasqualeparente9776 I looked up that exact Rolair model (vt25big) and it listed at around $600.00 so I’m not sure where you get that it’s 4x the price of the Makita?
PEOPLE LOOK AT THE AMP ON THESE COMPRESSORS IT NEEDS TO BE PLUGGED IN ON A 15 AMP CIRCUIT WITH ZERO LOAD ON IT NO LONG EXTENSION CORDS....PEOPLE PAY WAY TO MUCH ATTENTION TO OTHER THINGS INSTEAD OF REAL NUMBERS GET IT HOME PLUG IT IN AND ZILCH
I have that compressor. If I need an extension cord I will not go any smaller than 12g. And even 12g, the maximum length is 50ft. That will work it in warm weather, but in the cold it's not enough and the motor strains. If you do want to go 50ft or longer, then it's best to go 10g. And wherever possible, plug into a 20 amp circuit.
Really have problem with 50 percent duty. Found that in manual, after buying. Want to run small Plasma Table. I need 90 psi at 4 fpm for 1/2" steel plasma cutting. Running 5 to 10 intervals of 2 to 5 minutes before plasma cycles on-off for a max of 15 to 20 minutes. Other then that, great looking , not that loud, it does not leak in regulator valve like old Porter Cable.
I don't really know what that means, but I DO know the *VT25BIG by ROLAIR* is almost identical to this, but is 100% duty cycle. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-17UZD_DEE80.html
