Been on Manjaro KDE as my daily driver for just over 3 years now. One of my top 3-4 distros.

I'm glad that manjaro has been committed to black and green theming after all these years. That's how I prefer it and how I set up KDE, although a little different looking and also have a nice black and green wallpaper.

i \m using manjaro on both my main laptop and desktop. i'm very satisfied. the reason i switched from the debian based was that i'm into photography and i wasn't happy with their rate of updates. at the beginning i was anticipating the colossal collapse but it never occurred. as i became more and more experienced i leaned not to panic if one of the AUR packages is not getting updated. 1 mistake i did was installing all my systems on wayland and that's deprives me the opportunity to use my favorite vokoscreen recorder. what i\ve learned from this video that there is a way to go back to x11. not sure if i'm going to try it. i'm afraid to damage the system. maybe i'll try it on my laptop. thanks for the tip.

Manjaro Gnome is my distro of choice. Their team does a great job putting on a very modern and feature rich polish on Gnome. My favourite implementation by far. My old laptop runs Endeavour because it's more lightweight and I go out of my way to set it up the same as Manjaro. I even install Pamac on it, because it's the best GUI pacman/aur interface. I think only Garuda Gnome comes close.

Vanilla Gnome is too limited for me and the 3rd party extensions will eventually break with some future update. No thank you.

To each their own. I just love how with just a few minor tweaks I can create a very modern and functional system even on an old laptop. I mean isn't that the fun of Linux? Tweaking and hacking at the risk that you might break something and in the process learn something new? @@GoolagThemTube

I too have been using Manjaro Plasma on my Raspberry Pi 4 for a very long time. I only use it on a Mini display to monitor Twitch chat when I'm streaming, but it has been rock solid. I haven't updated it near as much as I should, however, it's not really doing much but monitoring a full screen website 24/7. I don't think there was a Gnome version for the Raspberry Pi back when I loaded it up, so I think since you are having issues with the recent updates to Plasma I may just reflash the SD card with the Gnome version of Manjaro as I prefer Gnome to Plasma tbh. Thanks for your continued in depth videos.

Sooner or later these customization's made by the Manjaro team will break. We all know how things works with Gnome. There's a reason why the Cosmic Desktop is being rewritten in Rust.

About the bonus content. If you want some more performance and "snappiness", try the hardkernel's Odroid C4 (Manjaro supports that).

There is no "Gnome done right". Gnome devs are taking Wayland hostage of their stupidity/fanaticism. X11 is basically abandonware and Gnome devs keep stalling Wayland development for crucial and requested features. Applications developers are abandoning support for Wayland due to lack of those features, that means Gnome devs are literally killing Linux Desktop ecosystem. Gnome and GTK should be boycotted. PERIOD.

@@piet-0 definitely a minority. Even Glorious Eggroll dropped Gnome from Nobara. PoPOS has announced it will drop it as soon as they complete the migration to EFL. XeroLinux dropped it and many many more distros are getting rid of Gnome.... and that's good for the whole linux community.

It's just that neither of the other DEs comes as polished. And more importantly neither of the other DEs can compete with the functionality. I feel like disabled and slowed down on other DEs. Nowhere else can I have a search function, an overview, an application switcher, and a workspace switcher on one button. Plus it's gorgeous.

I've been using Manjaro since Solus kicked the bucked and while the latest live image might not be on Gnome 45, the actually rolling part of it has already made the move. That being said, I've been using Manjaro Gnome since Solus died and you are wrong. Manjaro doesn't do Gnome right, it does make sure all the extensions you might need are there out of the box, but that's hardly doing justice to the vision of the arrogant a-holes that develop gnome.
