Marijuana & trucking? 

Why does everybody think people are going to be high while they're driving that's not what's going on what's going on is I smoked a joint 3 weeks ago and they're going to act like I'm high while I'm driving that's such BS it should be like alcohol when I'm clocked off I should be able to do what the hell I want

I have to disagree with your views in this video. I dont get stuck when I smoke, it kills my anxiety. And I feel like truckers and all employees and athletes alike have been demonized for many years. If you smoke 2 joints one week ago, you'll fail a random drug test. But your buddies who don't smoke weed can snort cocaine all weekend in the clubs, get random drug test on Wednesday and be just fine. Ive always thought that was messed up. Currently trying to obtain my cdl, going to quit smoking too, but not happy about it. America sucks.

Bro am here smoking watching this video. I’ve been by myself 5 years now and I use weed to stay by myself in order to learn to be alone. I am 33 and want to go in trucking maybe 6 months from now I live in New York so I will get my permit ready in the mean time so I can attend this paid cdl school with Roehl. I will make sure to be clean in 6 months time, but I am here smoking knowing it’s about to end soon because if I can truck for 3 to 5 years I can make something of myself. I had business at age 23 started smoking at age 25 lost my business at age 27. Cut off everyone I was associated at age 28 so I was just working doordash staying by myself smoking weed. Now at age 33 I want to stop doordash and work trucking because if I work trucking 3 to 5 years I can maybe get my business back or more. The problem happened to my life when marijuana get involve but it did keep me mentally stable or else I think I would go insane after losing everything I built.

Rich - thanks for the video. I have been thinking about getting my license and going into trucking lately. I don't smoke weed but your video applies to me as well. I love beer and bourbon, but if you are on the road, there's just no place for it. Not even a 34 hour reset. Even if I don't go into trucking, I don't want a drugged out/drunk driving 80000 lbs. of metal and glass at 65mph next to my loved ones ever!

I hear a lot of companies do random drug tests and I don’t want to have to give up weed completely just to truck. Obviously I’m not gonna drive high, but every once in a while I like to get high and I don’t wana fail a random drug test and lose my job for smoking two weeks before it. Weed stays in the system for a while so there should be a more accurate test that shows that you have smoked. I don’t get why all these companies gotta piss test it’s bs. They should all just do a saliva test.

Was a heavy smoker for 8 years.... been clean for 3 weeks now, got probably another 7-8 weeks before I even apply for trucking school, it sucks and it’s hard but I want a better life not only for myself but my wife and daughter! I really wish they could test to see if you’ve smoked in the last couple days vs couple months cause I don’t drink so smoking was my only outlet to relax and sleep but hey 50k-100k sounds better then a bag of weed!

I quit smoking weed 7 or 8 months ago and still failed the hair follicle test haven't used a drop since I commited to the switch and they played me wrong I quit my job passed the urinalysis and failed the hair follicle that hair test is some bs it's not a accurate form of testing to distinguish wheather a person is actively using cannabis. If you quit smoking and make that change in your life you shouldn't be penalized for something you havent done 6 7 or 8 plus months ago while your currently clean and sober. Imagine being denied a life changing opportunity for something you did 7 or 8 months ago and passing a urinalysis just to be judged by your hair follicles from non existent cannabis usage when you come from a recreationally legal state. That's some straight oppressive ass bs this dude talm bout clean up before you come out here and there is literally countless people who did just that and still failed a company mandated hair follicle test that is not dot mandated. That's bs true dont smoke and drive trucks but if you quit it's in the past and to be denied is straight bs if you legitimately quit and been clean for 7 or 8 plus months. Thats why the hai test exist to oppress and keep certain people from changing there lives in a predominantly white ran trucking industry. Too many niggaz was getting passed the piss test so they had to figure out a way to keep us down!!!

Pot is becoming legal in Canada. Probably eventually the Charter of Rights will protect folks from being piss tested. But for Canadians going OTR USA, we have to pass a piss test if we want to run American. So I stay clean. I got enough problems concentrating, keeping the sloppy steering straight in my Freightliner. Touching my cell is scary enough. I can't speak for or understand American laws. You got to be on point. I totally agree. 👍⚡ Love your way of explaining this!

I'm interested in hotshot under 26k but apparently will need med card & dot, not sure about mc# as o/o, per truck and trailer combined over 10k. was told by fmcsa guy under 26k doesn't get ua screens but he also said if my trailer was under 10k I can do interstate without any dot regs as I posted above seems he was at least partially incorrect. I know ya can't even have 1 beer in cab but what about non cdl under 26k driver with a dime bag?

My main question is how do truck companies treat people living in legal states. I'm willing to clean out and have already started. I'm wondering if they will give you a chance knowing where you came from. Is it plausible to be straight up with them? As in look I might be dirty, but I'm willing to do extra testing in order to prove that I'm cleaning out and willing to stay clean now that I have purpose. Like to here what your two cents on this is.

I've been driving for 20 yrs.i think it's stupid, I can get s***-faced drunk, wake up be hungover. As long as my blood alcohol level is under 02 or 04 I can't remember which, I can get in the truck and drive no matter how hungover I am. I can't go home take one or two hits off a bong or three wake up and go to work and drive. I can't even go home on a Friday night take a few hits don't smoke Saturday don't smoke Sunday come in Monday and drive it's freaking stupid.

Weed is federally illegal. As a truck driver your a federally regulated employee. If you want a CDL you gotta follow federal laws.

I feel what you attempt to promote but this is the thing what a person does on their down time is what you should be allowed. You have people that drink alcohol and sleep it off. Yea no person should DUI, but if you on ya 10, 34, or HT, it shouldn't matter. Out of my 31 years of living(not driving) I have never woke up with or heard anyone waking up with a hangover from marijuana. I passed my written & driving test high. I'm not saying as if I'm proud of it, I'm saying it saying if you never smoked weed don't put people down like they are bad people. 75% of these 20+ year drivers have told me about some damn booger sugar. I rather fear that knowing it's affects are 95% similar to alcohol. Obviously you have never used because you speaking from false propaganda and contradicting yourself. theres no logic behind this in canada they test drivers mouth swab and you can tell if someone smoked within idk 5 8 hours or w e . why dont we do this here problem solved you can have beer or bottle vodka that will screw u up big time. but u take few pulls u r screwed . From the FMCSA "Marijuana, including a mixture or preparation containing marijuana, continues to be classified as a Schedule I controlled substance by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in 21 CFR § 1308.11. Under the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs), a person is not physically qualified to drive a CMV if he or she uses any Schedule I controlled substance such as marijuana. (See 49 CFR §§ 391.11(b)(4) and 391.41(b)(12)). Accordingly, a driver may not use marijuana even if is recommended by a licensed medical practitioner."
