She looks like she was a little bit starstruck... every time he looked her in the face and continued talking she just melts!!! Lucky girl to interview a living legend!!!! I'm jelous!!!
Martin is just adorable; that Sid James chuckle gets me every time 😉. He gives good interview. I'm sure he has regrets, but he's not as disclosive as Dave is, so we're unlikely to hear anything really profound on that score. Some nice moments, there. Thank-you!
He does not recognized enough as being a great guitarist, not only a songwriter. The interviewer is very sweet in her demeanor and questions. She is almost like a student speaking to a professor. In pop music, he is.
That is my daughter and we were so proud of her. She was given an opportunity in the Fan takeover year and it was a dream come true for her and us...a family of DM fans 🙏
A musical genius. One of the very few, with pure honesty, that will shake your soul with a song. This band WILL ALWAYS BE RELEVANT TO ME. playing the angel and exciter, my two albums. My favourite.
I would say, from the beginning :) Even the quirky first album is worth listening to and then afterwards one can build up the DM progress in their head
@@oceane_chin It really was a once in a lifetime experience. I was given the chance to meet him by Sony Records. I was one of the 365 fans selected for the Facebook Fan Takeover. We were given the opportunity to share our personal reasons for loving the band and as they found out I was a student studying Journalism in London at the time, they very kindly managed to arrange for me to interview Martin during his press day for the upcoming Global Spirit Tour. I was incredibly nervous (which you can definitely see 😅) and given a handful of fan questions right before speaking to him. It truly was a whirlwind of a day and it will be a memory I'll treasure forever x
@@AliceLucyBradley Awesome! I'd also get nervous if it were me but you kept composed the whole time. 🙂 So happy for you to have that encounter with an artist like Martin. 😊
Martin and Vince (Clarke) are musical geniuses. Both formed one of the greatest bands ever. And... both never lifted off in some way. Two great people! I love them!
I am the 'young girl' who was lucky enough to interview Martin. I was brought up on Depeche Mode, so naturally I would evolve and become a life long fan of their work. It was such an honour to be able to work with Depeche Mode's team to produce this interview.
What a top man he is. I love Dave to bits for obvious reasons but when you read more about Depeche Mode's history and find out about all the arguments and times they've nearly broken up it's not hard to imagine that it's more likely to have been down to Dave's moods and various life issues, rather than Martin. In addition to his amazing talent, he has unwavering commitment to his craft although DM would not exist without Dave's voice. Thanks for sharing the video.
Michael Catlow I agree...I feel this is why Alan removed himself from the band. Martin and Dave were confronting individual issues (alcohol and drugs) and Alan saw how destructive this was at the time. With Alan's departure, their sound did change without question.
This guy is A Genious. Look at Depeche modes songs etc. And hes been face to face with ever younger reporters asking pretty much the same things for 40 years. Thats stamina.
sorry to hear your experiences with Dave and Fletch weren't all that great, I have heard Fletch wasn't the nicest guy you could meet but always thought Dave was a really nice guy.
I've always been confused by Martin's 'too shy to have a conversation' reputation Every interview and studio footage I've seen of him he's chatting away as normal as anyone else
Martin has become more open and relaxed as he has aged. He definitely was more awkward and shy in his earlier years. I admire his naturally quiet, subtle nature.
Martin's a likeable soul, authentic and generous. I appreciate the band's music. I would tend to forgive him for being media blind and misunderstanding Trumps intent....but he surely doesn't have the time. That's how it goes.
Jeffery Lord Genetics are a funny thing. My father’s mother was Arab with brown skin and very curly hair. His father was a Kazakh with light skin and straight hair. My father has light skin and straight hair and his brother is brown skinned with curly hair, but they look very much alike. My sister looks completely Italian ( our mother was Jewish and Irish) and I am obviously part Asian, but she has no Asian features at all. We don’t look one bit alike. The only similarity is that we are both small. I married a German man (light skin with green eyes) and our son looks completely Arab with skin darker than either one of us. With genetics, you never know what you are going to get. You just graciously accept the children God gives you and tell Him “thank you”.
Interesting observation - but just to give you a bit of background - I was given an hours notice to prepare my interview with Martin Gore and had to read questions written by fans, that were coming in through a Facebook post from my phone, all whilst being completely blown away at the fact that I was meeting an idol of mine. Perhaps this is what you were sensing on camera!
@@sofadviolator No it's not! It is showing ignorance, hatred, and lack of taking the time to understand how sincere, honest, hard-working, and American President Trump really is!
I love Depeche. Mart looks so youthful here. btw nothing wrong with repealing and replacing Obamacare. ppl can't afford the premiums and nothing wrong with protecting you own country
Mark Christopher - I agree. Martin really lost me by saying Trump's plans were crazy. What's wrong with protecting your borders like Japan, Israel, China, Saudi Arabia etc do?! When these elite celebs say 'your racist for worrying about your livelihood', they make me instantly abandon them.
Ian Grant - Protecting your country from what's being done to Europe, the US etc. Take Sweden for example, it used to have the lowest level of rape in the world. But now it is the rape capital of the world, and has a lot of no-go zones. Women can't go out, due to its suicidal immigration policy.
Jaems Harilie you’re over exaggerating. And you clearly don’t accept anyone else’s view other than yours. You clearly aren’t a real Depeche Mode fan if you believe that discriminating against immigrants and crucial policies against people of color and other policies are good when it comes to Brexit and Trump. Why are you mad that Martin doesn’t like trump and brexit? Get over it
As a musician: Wonderful. His apparent political views : Horridly adolescent. He clearly hasn't examined the other side of the argument, and if he has, he did so without exercising intellectual honesty
Phillip Kendrick - Oh no!!! not “white nationalist propaganda”!!!! The fact that you used the cliche’ term “white nationalist propaganda” tells me you’re choking down some serious propaganda yourself there champ. True “white nationalists” are so minuscule in the overall population that it’s laughable for people to believe that it’s a real problem in modern times. Unless you’re a university grad with a degree in “gender studies” or some other unless degree. Or, if you’re a sheep who buys the mainstream media (Otherwise known as the propaganda arm for the Democratic Party).
This man has been one of the first pyoniers of electronic music. He is a genius. A legend. He is Depeche Mode.... witout him Dave Gahan will be anyone..... I love him so much
Me noT mE have to say that’s a little disingenuous. Possibly a little off the cuff and short sighted if I may say. Gahan”s vocalization and interpretation, along with his epic dramatic delivery has convinced audiences for 37years to pay attention. Arguably Gore may not have made it with his whimsical songs if not fronted by his main man. Chemistry is what they have, along with integrity and an insatiable work ethic that many younger bands lack. Gahan is still a very creative force within the unit nowadays and is allowed to expressive himself. This potent duet/ duel is the chemistry that keeps Depeche Mode relevant today. I just went back a little to Playing the Angel, what a top album for me that is. I am 48.
Stephen Bates I agree, been a fan since I heard leave in silence. Dave’s solo x 2 albums and MGs solo albums prove they are both talented but together they are “Depeche Mode” and that has prove to be something special. ✌️
