Harbinger: I will tear you apart, Shepard! *Gets ready to blast the Normandy into dust* Tali: I have a home. Harbinger: I'll... give you two a minute...
The whole Normandy evacuation scene in general is kind of awkward on a conceptual level (Why doesn't Harbinger just blast the Normandy? Why is the whole charge being stopped and the Normandy leaving the battle just to evacuate two wounded in the first place, when this is supposed to be a final, all-or-nothing suicide gambit? Why can it happen even with, say, Javik and EDI?), but goddamn, the dialogue really makes up for it.
@@GuyInBlackClothes I literally had a dilemma whether to go back to Tali and condemn Geths and Edi their life or Do I sacrifice my life with the love of my life for the greater good. I chose Tali.
@@yadma58but you don’t go back to Tali you just end up in the ruins of London likely succumbing to the injuries of Harbinger, explosions and earth’s re-entry
Just saw this again for the nth time last week. I’m trying to romance other women in another play through, but it’s so damn hard. I think Tali’s the perfect romance partner in the game.
I thought, if you brought Javik with you on the final mission, he would’ve rejected getting evacuated. He fought the reapers and lost 50,000 years ago. He also hints that he wants to commit suicide after he finds the bodies of his men. Why would he leave when the beam is so close, injury be damned.
In my playthrough, javik was thinking about writing a book with liara and also said that once the war is over he is going to need a job. So, maybe it has something to do with how good you do against the reapers or some dialogue choices?
This happens if you make him touch the memory shard he has after that he can’t live with himself anymore but if you tell him “let dead ghost rest” then he goes on the write the book with liara
@@michaelafton6870 You play the original game, right? I think back then there was some kind of extended cut DLC which added scenes. In the Legendary edition its already included
@@thefiendish186 I play legendary edition. They always get vaporized for me and the Normandy never is called down sense my 2 squad mates I bring always die from the reaper beam
Goddamn it, I agree with you. I was set on Destroy from the very beginning (my 2nd playthrough after 8 years). I was set on it but having witnessed the Geth and EDI being "reborn", I knew it may change my mind but this scene, reinforced my decision to Destroy.
@@artificialsoul4248 Same. I just finished MeLE a couple of days ago. Had zero knowledge of anything, all i knew was there was controversy about the ending, but i didnt let it bother, it made me expect the worst and think like *welp, im prepared for Shepard to die if it means saving everyone, maybe thats why people were mad* i was prepared for it, but this scene fucked me so hard and i just couldnt do it anymore 😩
@@poolee77except that’s not what happens you just destroy the Reapers and all inorganic life in the galaxy and miraculously survive but if BioWare decided “let’s continue Shepard’s story” then that ending would more than likely get retconned
People tell me I have a cold heart but this really breaks me down. I'll always choose Tali as my romance in the series. Especially after this scene, I got the end and I didn't have enough to save Shepherd. So I'll do the entire series over again. I don't care, all the romance scenes with Shepard and Tali are so perfect. I swear, I would never wish to see a DLC or future content based on your decision in Mass Effect 3 where you actually see Tali and Shepard together in a home.
I think the hardest part of this is in her loyalty mission, she argued to me that its hard to have no planet but we argued its better to have a home, now the plot was reversed and Tali considering you her Home was super sweet.
Everyone: awww this is so cute, adorable, lovely etc... Me: the only cute here... is Harbinger! 🤣 He patiently allowed Shepard to say goodbye to his woman and didn't target Normandy.
I am pretty sure he mainly was focused on the guys running on the ground towards the beam rather than the ship at that time so when he saw the ship at the last second he was probally like: De fuq
@@coregamer3279I always rationalized that the Reaper IFF that was installed in the SR2 in ME2 may have essentially "shielded" the Normandy from Harbinger, or at least made targeting it much harder thanks to focusing more on protecting the beam.
Special extra cutscene if you have over 7400 war asset score. But he's as good as dead. He was badly injured, had no radio contact and even if he did the mass relays were destroyed so there's no way to get to him 😞
It always bothered me how NOBODY got thought the relay. Like the tanks PARKED halfway through the battle and still lost. I’m suprised none of the soldiers thought “hmm if I play dead it won’t shoot me and leave”
In my headcannon, the reapers had partially indoctrinated Shepard already, that's why they didn't target the Normandy and just sat there as this scene plays out. It was by their will that Shepard got to the relay, and to destroy the Normandy would harden his resolve against the partial indoctrination. They were basically betting on black and just letting Shepard by, hoping he would choose the control ending. As for the tanks, this is still my headcannon but I think thats just survivor bias. Any tanks that tried to approach the relay were blasted away, so we only see the ones that stopped short of the relay.
@@Kyrrim the indoctrination theory makes sense but it’s so boring if it’s true. It’s like “it was all just a dream” ending. Also keep in mind EDI is specially built to combat AI and she has hyper advanced code based on reaper code and has reaper technology on the ship. She probably fighting for her life stopping harbinger from targeting the Normandy
Crazy how bioware designed all those pretty women across 3 games but the vast majority of men chose the one character you cant even see the face of. She is the best
Moments like this prove that Mass Effect 3 isn't beyond salvation. Just some tweaks here and there, and it'd be another masterpiece; though, flawed as it is, there still are highlights, like the character moments. Every scene with romanced Tali and best bro Garrus are perfection! I'd just rewrite the ending where it is revealed that the Control and Synthesize endings were attempts at indoctrination; also, the Destroy ending only destroys the Reapers, not all synthetic lifeforms. Other than that rewrite, it is frustrating that we could never properly make the Catalyst AI realise its own "logic" was distorted - how does murdering and mutating organics into Reapers "preserve" them? It's pretty clear they lose all sense of their previous identities and only become another Reaper. Sorry, rant over. LOL
It already is a masterpiece. Some of the best moments in the franchise, hostiles that are challenging but not straight out broken, great plot, great continuity to the first 2 games
