After saving the human colony on Feros the turian guy said that Shepard needs to learn how to make sacrifices. Guess what, I sacrificed them at the end of the game. Thank you Council for teaching me this valueable lesson!
There is a referance to this in ME3, Joker says : "Commander, do you want me to call the Council and hang up on them, just for old times sake?" or something among those lines.
+ExplosiveBG you will hear that line even if you never hung up on them... but if you hung up on them, you can hear joker and Liara talk about it (in Mass Effect 3).
Wish you could have done this to sovereign on virmire. Sovereign: "Rudimentary creatures of blood and flesh, you touch my mind, fumbling in ignorance, incapable of..." Shepard: "Aww. Looks like we lost the signal."
I like how the Asari Councilor is trying to simultaneously mediate the hate-waves crashing between Shepard and the Turian and get her own message across.
@@anelbegic2780 ironically in Mass Effect 3 the turian council was the most down to earth meanwhile we know later that the asaris were hidding a prothean beacon and she knew it
@@000mjd That's what hapends when your main writter leaves, you put a more incompetent one in his place while trashing the original story out line for the trilogy just because it leaked. They even had to make last minute DLC for MS2 if i'm not mistaken just to make their new story make sense at all.
@@anelbegic2780 that's just not what happened at all. There's valid story reasons for Sparatus (turian Councillor) being more amenable in ME3. Got nothing to do with "incompetent writers". Drew Karpyshyn was one of many writers who worked on the trilogy, him leaving wasn't as big a deal as people make it out to be. A shame, definitely, but not a death sentence for ME3. The Arrival DLC wasn't last minute, and it isn't even integral to the story of ME3. It literally just bridges the gap between ME2 and ME3, giving a reason for Shepard being on Earth. Story works out exactly the same even if you didn't play Arrival.
@@DextroDNAOfficial Is that why all of ME2's characters basically got shafted and all the ME1 characters took center stage while all the new ME3 characters lack something if not totally suck? Bioware resycled so much from ME1 & 2 while adding little else that stayed memorable. Drew leaving, and Bioware chamging the story, also did effect ME3 in a very bad way. His storyline would have implicated the dark energy theory fe ME2 rather than the reapers just being massive morons and having logic breakdown at the end of ME3, they would have come off as more lawfull-evil than just chaotic-evil. Also don't lie that the story works our the same, i played ME2 and did arrival bit didn't really pay too much attention to it until ME3 starts and you're under house arrest. Took me abit to actually realize the only reason arrival exists which just makes me hate ot more. As for the turian counsiler's reason, sure he had a reason...only after it was too late and his people were going to go extinct...oops. He may not have liked shepard and humans, assuming of course you saved the original council in ME1 that is, but he spends almost every game until his species is in danger in ME3 badgering you no matter your actions. Assuming you killed the original council though, even if nothing really changed (lazy assholes at Bioware really couldn't be bothered honestly) except the dialogue in ME3 when refering to the original council yet all the races are recruited in roughly the same way honestly. ME1 & 2 are objectively the better written stories and gameplay wise, unless you started at playing ME3 first, better games mechanicaly as well.
My favorite one is Noveria - Killing the Rachni Queen: Turian Councilor: "Do you ENJOY committing genocide, HUMAN?" Shepard: "Depends on the species, TURIAN." That just got me laughing so hard~
That part was so annoying. You kill the queen - you're accused of genocide You let her go which is the better choice - you're told it was an awful decision which will have terrible results in the future
@@segevkrespi8609 With good reason. The Rachni were an incredibly dangerous threat to the entire galaxy. The Rachni wars? The entire reason the Krogan became such a power that the genophage was invented? It's just good faith that Shepard let them queen go and she would not return to trouble us again, but even luckier, she returns and helps us in ME3.
@@primary2630 Expect that it's hinted in ME2, when conversing with an Asari on Ilium, who was connected to the Rachni that the Rachni were controlled by someone, probably the Reapers, which is why they attacked the first contact teams sent by the Salarians. The Rachni desired peace
@@segevkrespi8609 yeah but the council races didn't know that they were controlled. It's not like the rachi did a good job of conveying their feelings.
@@DantesInferno96 true, but it doesn't matter. The rachni queen chose to remain hidden to avoid a new war, and was forces out by the reapers, and then you can save her.
+Agent Washington Mass Effect could have it's own series of minigames (as I saw someone mentioning in a thread GTA Citadel) but don't let EA know this otherwise we will have 10 games per year.
0:49 The fact that there is no filter on Joker and Shepard looks up always made me imagine Joker was in the ventilation above and actually cut the comms
Honestly, when I was a kid playing this game, I couldn't really understand how the Council could possibly be so blind to all the evidence you brought to them regarding the Reapers, even when you literally bring them a living Geth (Legion) to tell them DIRECTLY that the Geth were not behind Eden Prime in Mass Effect 2...and then I became an adult, and found out what politicians were...
The reason why the council is so stupidly ignorant is the same reason why the workers and politicians at Chernobyl didn't want to believe they had a huge disaster on their hands. Because in their fearful perception if it were true, then they were pretty much screwed. Or, they would have to work their asses off more then they want to, and that means they would have to step down.
"Looks like the Ascension is under heavy fire, Commander. You want me to patch you through to the Council?" "Patch 'em through, Joker." That would have been great.
4tehhorde Asari Councilor: Commander Shepard, we're under heavy fire from Sovereign and Geth forces! We request immediate assistance from the Normandy SR1! Shepard: Sorry, can't help you against something that doesn't exist. :D *Ascension blows up* Shepard: Aww. Looks like we lost the signal, Joker. Joker: ...Getting a little dark there, boss.
Kenpachi Ramasama This is hillarious! =)) Likewise, Mass Effect 2: Turian Councillor: "Ah yes, Reapers..." Mass Effect 3: Turian Councillor: Commander Shepard, Palaven is under attack! Asari Councillor: "We have a heavy situation on Thessia, Commander!" Shepard: "Ah yes, Reapers... I have dismissed that claim. I should go."
+4tehhorde " Commander ! Please don't cut us off again ! I'm begging you ! " " Give me a reason. " " We'll..uh..admit in public the Reapers exist ! " " And...? " " Anything you want ! Please, help ! ( crying ) " "...Fine. "
They seriously, seriously should have slipped this into Mass Effect 2 when talking to the Illusive Man at the end of the game after blowing the Collector Base to hell. TIM: "Are you just going to throw away billions of credits and units of resources? Disregard everything we have fought for up to this point?! Are you turning your back on me?!" Shepard: "You know it! :D" *Hangs up.*
+Nightblade1337 technically, they do let you cut off the Illusive man at the end of the game, but I think there's a dialogue combination you need, which I have been able to do. start with the one about bullshit on your end, add in don't order me around, or something, and end off with a disconnection
I kept Wrex alive because his request on Virmire was reasonable (given his service up to that point) and he was clearly the biggest, strongest, meanest asshole in the squad. Canonically and logically, a superior grunt to Ashley. If krogan physiology was modeled accurately he could have literally bitten Shep's head off anytime he wanted.
@@jkl6652 I like how you wrote "a superior grunt", considering the name of the Krogan fella you get in ME2. I like it very much. :) And yes, one does not let Wrex go, he's a hell of a guy.
"Useless Politicians" that implies the fact that there are non-useless politicians. "But, but! Noble VI! What about Anderson! You can make him a politician!" Anderson has, and always will be, a Military Man first.
the realistic Shepard is someone like half paragon and half renegade like: "oh i love saving people by shooting at anyone who piss me off" or "I'm gonna kill anyone who tries to stop me from saving this galaxy, even those bitches also known as The Council"
@@derokdeathaxe6984 Yeah, through-out the three games I've played with this character, it keeps coming out 100% paragon and 25% renegade (75/25 in ME3). I can't be nice all the time, sometimes someone deserves it.
@@derokdeathaxe6984 I agree with Camelotsmoon, I think the perfect Shepard is 75% Paragon and 35% Renegade. The Alignment is the only thing I cheat in the Mass Effect Trilogy so I don't need to stick to one alignment to not miss out on anything.
@@Camelotsmoon that, and sometimes the renegade option is just being reasonable. ME2 renegade: headbutt the Krogan who won't get off Grunt's ass. ME3 renegade: knock the wind out of the Quarian admiral who nearly killed you.
I feel like the real Shepard is a Paragon who does Renegade actions when the situation is truly upsetting. Like when you punch the Quarian Admiral in ME3 for firing on a dreadnougt you and your squad was on.
The second most satisfying renegade interrupt in the game. It's one I always do now in every plathrough. That interrupt is only second to the one with Kai Leng.
I always found that super unrealistic. You don’t throw a fit and assault a high ranking military official like Admiral Gerrel. I think cursing him out and kicking him off the ship would have been enough. I catch your drift though.
What are they gonna do? Arrest the guy amassing an army to fight the reapers? Punching the Quarians admiral is the least he deserves. If it weren't for Tail I would sided with the Geth and wiped them out.
@@alexanderblack4833 Actually yeah, the Quarians probably would pursue action against shepherd. Obviously the council would do nothing since you’re a spectre, but the Quarians could easily rescind their offer to fight for earth.
@@Miguel-jm2pf that would only ensure they stand alone against the reapers AND the geth. Not to mention that even IF they survive the war then their reputation would be even worst with the other races as the only species that stood by during the final push to beat the reapers. Even in the real world it wouldnt make sense to seek repercussions after the admiral went AWOL and fired on allied forces. Also, I doubt the alliance would just standby and do nothing to help Shepard, again the very guy that has the most experience with reapers and got the krogan and turians to help Earth. Shepard literally is worth more than some crazy short sighted admiral.
Honestly, I always felt a *little* guilty doing this to them (as funny as it is, and it is DAMN funny), because of the Asari Councilor-- sure, she dismisses your warnings regarding Sovereign and the Reapers, but at least she's *nice* and is the most reasonable (relatively) about it-- she's certainly not an outright insulting jerkoff asshole like the Turian Councilor (my otherwise straight-on Paragon NEVER missed an opportunity to give HIM lip).
"This is the Acension, requesting immediate assistance!" "Sir, they... they disconnected..." And in Mass Effect 3 "Commander, we got a message from the citadel council. They're waiting for you in the hyperlink room. You know, if you want to disconnect on them. For old times sake..."
Why does the Council takes mankind for unexperienced babies only good for poking in dark corners of space and making jokes? We will probably never know.
To be fair this is the only proper way to treat the council. They send a team consisting of arguably the best of the best in what they do equipped with the most advanced ship in existence on a mission and when the guy leading said team sends a report they just go "lol we don't believe you, let's make our own assumptions and act on them" like...tf ?
If you kill the Rachni queen on Noveria, the Turian counsellor asks Shepard if he finds pleasure on commiting genocide. Renegade Shepard says "Depends on the species, turian." One of my favorite renegade lines ever.
That last disconnect was really more of a you just pissed me off even more. Seriously, losing a team member that's been with you from the beginning is kinda hard.
I love Normandy SR1 got that kind of meeting room. after finishing an important mission, all of your squadmates sitting there, while Shepard gave an epic speech. good old times.
I never dismissed the council, but when I heard what Sparatus was going for, it took me a few seconds to consider answering, let it sink in, and disconnected without hard feelings. They didn't get on my nerves after that somehow. It seems Sparatus had a word with the other council members.
Shepard: "Hey council, there's a warship bigger than the Ascension about to attack the station you live on. Might wanna keep an eye out." Council: "Lol funny joke, human."
I just discovered on my latest playthrough that, during the first 3 missions (Feros, Noveria, Therum), if you disconnect the first time, then don't disconnect the second time, Shepard will have a new line if you disconnect on the third mission's completion; I did Feros last, and his line was "Goodbye, Councilor." after the Turian Councilor complains that of course you helped a HUMAN colony.
Pavan CaLeRa If only Shepard could do this in ME2 during the meeting, they'd be worth saving just to do that again. In ME2 the closest to this i remember is when the Illusive Man gets disconnecting if Shepard chooses to destroy the Collector Base.
when someone plays paragon usually the player thinks as renegade shepard...i mean the council is a bunch of scaredy bitches...like they give you unlimited power(as a spectre) and still think like you're their pet...watch saren...he didn't give a single fuck to the council...still was their fav spectre
I have never played another game series that acknowledges my choices even half as well as Mass Effect did and Sheperd's performace just makes it all the funnier. This is the funniest thing I've seen in a while
