Literally stumbled on this review last night when I was considering buying the El Stack and going to sleep. 14 hrs left on the drop I immediately got this and it shipped today. This plus the Grace SDAC I already have should be very nice. I finally got an amp that will exceed my Jotunheim. Super stoked.

Feeding my THX 789 with a Teac UD-501 and it sounds fantastic. I honestly don't feel like I'll ever want another solid state amp. I've heard way more expensive stuff and this is just better. I LOVE how efficient it is. No heat out of it at all.

Z just found your channel, loved every second of the 4 hours I just consumed, really peaking my new interest in audio. But I just order the Massdrop Sennheiser 6xx and after watching this video I'm REALLY thinking about ordering this amp but damn what an investment just starting out.... Also gaming is my main hobby right now so I really want to pickup the Sennheiser gsx1000 just for the "7.1" 8-way audio. Is that a decent enough dac to get what I should out of the THXAAA789? I also have a focusrite Scarlett 2i2 that I got to record guitar but it seems to be a dac/amp combo but I can't seem to find specs in regards to that, though it makes my ATH-AD700s more PLENTY loud at 12 o'clock. Just curious if you have any knowledge on the Scarlett and if that might be able to handle the 6xx out of the box? And if you think the gsx1000 is a decent enough dac for THXAAA789 or if my Scarlett may work in place? THANK YOU ANYONE THAT HAS MADE IT THIS FAR.

After buying this about a month before this video came out, I finally went balanced today between my Oppo Sonica and AAA 789, the power coming trough fully balanced is astounding. Going through a rediscovery now.

Seriously, I. Completely. Agree. Zeos! When I got my 789, the first thing I noticed - on the first two tracks - was I could hear a difference in my DAcs, and it was pretty obvious. This thing resolves differences between single-ended DACs! And it truly rewards - and reveals differences between - Balanced DACs! Absolutely stunning, and at this price...it made me way too proud that I knew what this was going to be capable of, before anyone had heard one, and ordered it way back then... without a single doubt, I have ZERO buyers-remorse. Or Zeos-buyers remorse. ;-) my DACs: Gustard X12 (balanced) FocusRite Scarlett 2i2 (Balanced) SMSL M8 (SE) SMSL Sanskrit (SE) ODAC (SE) Schiit Modi (1st gen, SE) Bucha older DACs, (all SE) Can tell the diff between, them, easily, with this amp. No joke. Far from it. This amp is without doubt the best audio purchase I've made in years. I can hardly wait to hear this with my Verums! Oh, BTW keep reviewing the other amps. There are going to be more jewels like this one coming soon. Like, say, the Monoprice desktop headphone amp, with Dual AKM 4493 DACs & Dual AAA-788 Modules...I am asking Santa for one of these, myself. @Z Reviews What's next? You asked. THX already have a well known AAA power amplifier called AHB2 by Benchmark Media, they also have a HPA4 headphone amplifier using the top tier of AAA topology THX-888 dual-mono amplifier design. Both of them are no snake oil, the best of the best in pure science.

Really good amp... was feeding it with a iFi micro- BL... sounds great. switching up to using the Topping DX7 for the balanced dac.

With how low the distortion levels are have you tried the Verum 1s on it yet? I can't wait to try them. Running the X2s single ended and it sounds good, but good freaking lord when I go to balanced with the HD 6XXs It's nuts. I'm feeding it balanced with the SU8

Worthy upgrade from Emotiva BasX 100? I'm using M1060's and I supported the Verum One on kickstarter.

Is it worth getting one of these amplifiers over the Philips BTB 7150 stereo system? Im not only wanting to do this because of the sound quality but also because I think a amplifier looks way neater than a huge stereo system amplifier thing plus I would also not be able to use these Micca cabels with my current setup.

Listening to the THX AAA 789 for the first time this morning. While connecting it to my audio gear I was thinking whether I would be able to hear any difference. I've already got very good quality gear including amps and DACs. Connected my PC with the Chord Hugo 2 and then that with the THX using the SE input connection. Plugged the Sennheiser HD800S in the THX's 4 pin XLR balanced output. Started with King Crimson's Moonchild. As soon as the track began I first felt surprised and then happy - a big smile on my face :) After that Peter Gabriel, The Clash, The Doors, Radiohead, R.E.M., The Smiths, Pink Floyd.....I don't want to stop listening now. Hard to believe that they've created such a brilliant headphone amplifier at such an affordable price point. I haven't tested the amp with my other headphones yet, but at least for the HD800S I think that I've found the optimum setup. Thinking of buying another amplifier as a backup when the drop returns.

I caved and got this as a upgrade from the basic Schiit Stack, though still keeping the modi for now. Very satisfied so far. Notable improvement with the Audeze iSine 20's. Only other worthy thing I have at the moment are the CA Andromeda's and they sound like trash on everything that isn't portable so far, including this. Waiting for the Verum 1's, to see how they sound with this.

Just pressed the order button for this amp for black friday, $250. Now to be patient and wait for it to show up. Debating between the balanced grace dac from Drop or the to be announced new Gishelli labs balanced dac. currently will be running it off an Odac.

The gain does feel good

Might replace my Gustard H10 full boat V6 vivids with this. The Gustard has been having a ton of issues with the right channel popping and dying, had to replace the transistor 3 times now. Also runs way too hot being class A, a real sauna in this Canadian summers. Going to pair my HE-500 with this though. Should hold me off a good 10 years before I need to upgrade again

I like this amp, but I get a crackling noise in my IEMs when I change the volume. I always set it to low gain before using the IEMs too and I'm not turning it up to deafening volumes.

Yo, can someone help me out here. I just got in my 789 yesterday (the older Massdrop version if that makes a difference) and I have to paired with my Mbox Mini 3rd gen audio interface via Mogami XLR. I'm using my Audeze LCD X with this setup with high hopes of beautiful clarity and neutral listening, but some things seem off. One, my gain switch doesn't appear to work. I'm currently listening to music on youtube, turning the switch from 1 to 2 to 3 and get no sound difference. Another thing is I've noticed that while some things sound great there are some things that sound almost fuzzy/distorted or just low quality. Is that due to my volume on the 789 or the Mbox (audio interface) or maybe my PC?? I just really want some help with this so I can get back to listening to some awesome music and work on MY music.
