That printer looks like it would be great for printing batches of face shield frames at a time. They don't have to be particularily tall, and you can arrange them to 'overlap' on the bed. A bit expensive for just that, but if you're making money on signs, but have some 'down time' between jobs, printing face shields might work as a fill task for the printer to keep it actually running more of the day.

I am with Marvin Huth. A friend has a "Felix Pro 2", a $3000 machine, and that one has a very nice auto bed leveling - it actually levels the bed instead of compensating in software. But then, you need this because the mechanism of attaching the removable heated bed is not sturdy enough to ensure that bed leveling is still good. I prefer a stable printer, I built my own printer like a CNC mill, leveled it a few years ago and did not touch it since.

@@Rob_65 I like that train of thought, overengineer the bed levelling and structure, then it's pretty much "set and forget". Worst case scenario, auto level as a calibration prior to printing too if need be. Wish there were more decent sized, affordable 3D printers built like this.

I used to print on blue tape and I found that wiping the tape down with a terry cloth rag and 99% IPA before printing made things stick much better.

You have to have the top nut at the end of the thread to bring the printer up to a invertible height.

Yeah the bottom nut is to hold the foot still while you turn the other nut to lift the bed that way the whole foot isn't turning while your trying to raise or lower it :)

you should do an unboxing video pre-recorded then edit add the follow-up video after you dinked with it for a few days to work the bugs out then master a final video. Your large build bed is likely not a flat plane (aluminum) and will be a bugger to level no matter what. glass may have been the best predictable surface as long as the heater interface is a good one. (another variable that will contribute to build bed warpage that cannot ever be truly leveled.) I'm curious if there are laser bed sensors that can adjust on the fly as print is progressing to make corrections on that first layer put down that is so crucial to the part adhesion? Love to get your response.

@@KiemPlant Yeah true but not if it's done one letter or symbol at a time, you could do that on any printer. to make it worthwhile it needs to put down a flat 1mm layer across the entire print surface and do it super fast before lettering/symbols, the sign needs to be a single print!. Lets talk fat volcano hotend then swap with a 0.4 for quality lettering? What the hell use a fat volcano throughout? People read signs from a distance, maybe a 1mm nozzle? get it done a lot quicker. What I'm watching isn't science, it's nescience. Just because it can be done, doesn't mean it should be done. What the hell? It's not worth the electricity! IMO obviously.

@@KiemPlant It's just a CNC chassis with not even a high-z mod axis. Not really that impressive as there's only 1 print head which severely limits its ability. Something that price / size needs a solid 12"+ of z travel, and on that gantry, at least 2 synchronised print heads that can cover the whole area.

Live streaming seems cool but for a truly information-filled educational video, consider shooting and editing your productions so you can study the questions from the live stream and answer them in your edited version. You can edit past the painfully long print segments and the other oops parts of the video. Some youtubers just zoom high speed during those parts so you still include the info. Example: you answered the question of what is this printer for at least 6 times. If you typed a more complete explanation in the description people probably would still ask redundant questions :)

Why can't Flashforge AD1 "Z" axis allow this printer to print more than just signs? does accuracy go down because of the large build surface? We want to print larger parts but need the "Z" access dimension to accommodate up to a 4" part. Love to get your response.

Love Joel, but why doesn’t he at least scan the instructions (either printed or on the manufacturer’s website) prior to leaping in? It’s not just Joel. So many RU-vid experts seem to refuse to read instructions, then flap around trying to figure out why things are going sideways. Also, agree a quick wipe of the bed wouldn’t have hurt either. Still love 3dpn though.

It depends on many things. What your purpose is on using a 3d printer is the main question. The ER-20 is more expensive, but a little bit easier to assembly, is a lot quieter and has auto-leveling sensor but a smaller build area than V2 printer and ER-20 seems to perform with better end results, but that may depend on the slicer setups. The V2 is cheaper and a bit harder to assemble but good as a cheap start printer if you want to learn more about how printers works, and look forward to make/buy upgrades and learn even more that way as a hobby. If you just want a printer to print things with and that's that, go for ER-20. But remember, every printer has it own maintenance measures, no matter of brand.

@@gizman12 That is true, Ender has more possibilities and huge resources on the internet, both as research and hardwares. And nothing says you can get a Eryone later if you goes for Ender V2 now. Perhaps an Eryone with bigger build volume, then :-)

It's hard to really give that assumption based on this video. 3D Printers are very precise machines that require calibration and that often can take a while. I'm just going to wait for the video where he has gotten use to it and gets settings down before I make an assumption. Very weird idea for a printer though
