There is a power imbalance between these characters. Eredin’s strength comes from his army, even Churchill being simply a fat man had great power over an army. Sure Eredin was weaker than Detlaff by far. But if Geralt had to fight Eredin, portal guy, mace guy, 20 other wild hunt soldiers and 20 wild hunt dogs, yeah, Geralt would die. Gaunter Odimm is almost a god. He has power over time, life and death. That is very OP, you wouldn’t want to make an enemy of him. But remember how I said “almost”? He can’t tell us where ciri is. Meaning that destiny revolving around the white frost, or white frost itself is stronger than Odimm. And now a conspiracy theory. Odimm knew white frost would end the world if Geralt didn’t find Ciri, so he specifically came to that tavern to tell Geralt of where Yennefer went. This is means he has prophetic vision to a degree. It’s incredible how dangerous this guy is

@@pumpkingamebox however he does tell him ciri is alive and how to make sure she is capable of surviving her encounter with the white frost, he didn't have to disclose either, so it appears he plays favorites, maybe he is the devil

@@joshhitxoriginal9367 I literally theorized that Odimm knew that White Frost would destroy the world and he specifically points Geralt in the right path of destroying the White Frost through decisions he makes while parenting ciri.

That's actually not that impressive. Young children are sponges for information and nearly all barring disability will take to new skills such as an instrument fairly quickly and easily. As they grow older however much of that retention is lost.

O'Dimm is based on multiple slavic legends involving Wandering Devils. There's not just one devil in hell - it's a whole hierarchy, from Satan, Lucipher the almighty great arch-devil, and great devil lords responsible to him directly, all the way to crude cauldron-pushers, mischevious imps, and lost, crude, feral devils that haunt swamps and forests. The Wandering Devils are the "upper middle class", powerful, highly skilled operatives, agents of hell tasked with tempting powerful mortals and collecting their souls.They have a lot of liberty as to how they perform their work, but they are still bound by the codex of hell and respond to their lords, O'Dimm has quite enough power and skill to murder Eredin without trouble, but he has no authority to do so. He can operate within confines of his mission, serving its goals; the gifts to Geralt are trinkets minor enough he doesn't violate the rules - and I'm quite sure he'd kill Eredin without a blink of an eye if Geralt offered to trade his own soul for that specific service. But currently Eredin is one of the mighty and unrelated to O'Dimm's mission, so he's not allowed to get involved.

It was more than that... I got goosebumps from that version.....

Flute had always been the magical vibe instrument in you guys know those medieval and ancient magical ages. To me Odimm holding and playing the flute just adds even more creepiness and feeling of devil to the character

@Iván Ibarra O'Dimm's theme is written in the phrygian mode, that's basically a natural minor scale with a flat second. I love the use of it in this context.

As interesting as that sounds, he is a villain. He murders an innocent man who offers Geralt a drink. He specifically tempts those downtrodden and desperate enough to make deals with him. And these deals often ruin other lives who weren't even invoved in the deal indirectly. He blinds a man just for learning his real name and tricks him into a circle for half a year by treathening death. He corrupts those he tempts and settles them into a fate worse than death. And he never gives Geralt a chance to refuse his quests despite manipulating him every step of the way as his pawn. Make no mistake. Master Mirror is a manipulative and malevolent being. Just because he does not subscribe to human morality and the laws of physics and its limitations as we know them doesn't make him any less of a villain.

I don't agree with you. As we were shown in both DLC (in "Blood and Wine" quest with wight), Gaunther strictly follows the agreements: both oral and written. He punished a woman who violated the tradition of a festival during which rich people should feed the poor and turned her into a wight. And this is the true nature of the Mirror Master. It reflects the nature of the people it deals with. We don't know what the drunk had to do with the O'Dimm or whether he was as "innocent" as he seems. However, we know that Shakeslock voluntarily agreed with bill on the establishment of the circle, where it's safe. Master Mirror never does anything that is not described in the contract or agreement. And never caused another person to fall. The Professor lost his sight because he read a lot in the dark. The drunkard became a drunkard by own choice. Olgierd also stupidly formulated his desires and had a very bad person before the deal with the "Devil" (engaged in robbery, easily sacrificed his brother for the sake of fulfilling the desire, cursed the Ophir Prince long before receiving the heart of stone). And he sends Geralt to his death three times. And if it wasn't for Gaunther and his desire to finally get what was due, Geralt would have died at the hands of the Ophir executioner. Or from the clutches of the inhabitants of the von Everek's mansion. Or from the swords of the guards of the Borsodi Auction House. You forget that O'Dimm was the same hostage of a contract with Olgierd, like Iris or, later, Geralt. How to live calmly and regularly, if there are debts that must be repaid? Von Everek wanted to deceive Master Mirror, so he came up with a meeting on the moon, and three absurd, almost impossible wishes. For which he was quite naturally punished. He got what he deserved. And this, as for me, is beyond the "good-evil" gradation. Please forgive me for my terrible illiteracy. I am very bad at English because it is not my native language. I understand you, but I formulate the idea poorly and in a confused way.

Gaunther O'Dimm is a being of both retribution and spite - He only became enthralled by Geralt and allowed his more personal side to flourish due to Geralt's ability to complete all the quests G.O.D set out of him. Besides, you do not know if that man he killed failed to pay a debt, or committed some vile crime, enough for someone to seek out his death. You need to think outside the box. I do not disagree with you, he IS an antagonist but he's not malevolent, manipulative? Yes. Yet he doesn't manipulate situations to stir in his way - Humans are just too stupid to outsmart him. But Geralt wasn't. And even when Geralt defeated him, Master Mirror resigned and left by his OWN contract. I'm sure he could had broken it and stayed. Greed is something he despises, and you can clearly see when Geralt's curiosity gets the best of him and asks G.O.D to reveal what he was. I'm sure it's not a huge deal, but Gaunther despises this sort of insolent behavior. I think G.O.D is MUCH more complex than people give credit for. But they were too enthralled on Olgierd's story to truly dig deep into what makes Master Mirror so fascinating.

I completely agree with you! Gaunter is an extremely complex entity, which is clearly not worth fitting into the framework of ordinary morality. That's what he's good at.

Maybe it'll be the theme of one of those "free AIs" that Netwatch are so afraid of...

This calls for the creation of a fanmade playlist of CP2077 style music incorporating his motif in different ways, to see what sticks best with it.

It wouldn’t be impossible, but it’d be really hard to find an actor that looks like him, has an epic voice like his, and the acting talent.

I don't know, I kinda like the thought that O'Dimm isn't portrayed by a real human (only the voice actor). A real actor would make him ... a little more tangible which would take away some of his mysteriousness.

@@Simon_A. There are some amazing actors out there, many even unknown, that could brilliantly portray this walking nightmare. And if all else fails, use motion capture like they did with Gollum.

Funny enough he would never hurt you if you do not get into a contract with him or annoy him in some way, so sitting by a camp fire and talking to him wont get you killed or worse if you're smart about what you say to him.
