What about HABEN in perfect and past participle perform ?
@HerrFerguson
@HerrFerguson 4 месяца назад
Regular past participle: gehabt “Ich habe Spaß gehabt” = I had fun More common to use the imperfect here: “Ich hatte Spaß”

Die vielfalt von fischen war wirklich interessant. Why dont we have to say like von den fischen like in every other instance?

And another quick one😅 Wiest du wie alt der leuchtturm ist. Isnt the lighthouse the direct objeckt?
@HerrFerguson
@HerrFerguson 4 месяца назад
Direct object of ‘sein’ takes nominative (as it is saying something is something else, so it is the ‘equals’ sign I’ve talked about)
@HerrFerguson
@HerrFerguson 4 месяца назад
It ought to be ‘Die Vielfalt an Fischen war wirklich interessant’ because ‘Vielfalt’ goes with ‘an’ (plus dative) But as for why - You only generally need a definite article if you’re trying to say ‘the’ (the variety of the fish) It’s the same as English in this case. Hope that helps!

Wir haben den tieren apfel gefuttert. Why den tieren instead of die tiere? Indirect object or something else?
@HerrFerguson

Indirect object, exactly. We are feeding apples TO THE dogs

Hat der chef ihnen meine akte geschikt. Is it ihnen because it is YOU plural and in dative plural it is en?
@HerrFerguson
@HerrFerguson 4 месяца назад
No, it’s the dative pronoun. Nominative: sie (they) Accusative: sie (them) Dative: ihnen ([to/for] them)

Yeah, it can be tricky at times. There’s just a list of verbs to learn that have a dative object. Keep going! I’m sure you’re making progress! 💪🏼

Der buch der frau ist langweilig. Why der?
@HerrFerguson
@HerrFerguson 4 месяца назад
The first ‘der’ is a mistake, it should be ‘das’ The second one is genitive feminine (of the woman)

@@HerrFerguson thank you , and just one quick Welchen roman hast du zuletzt gelesen. Why welchen and not welcher , i know welcher makes no sense when spelling it out. But what is the grammar behind that?
@HerrFerguson
@HerrFerguson 4 месяца назад
This is coming up in a video I’m going to do soon, but it’s because ‘Welch-‘ follows the definite article pattern (welcher / welche / welches / welche, etc) and this example is because ‘which novel’ is the direct object of the verb. Novel is masculine (der Roman) so here it would be ‘welchen Roman’ because it, too, is accusative.
