"Bernardo Faria is a 5x World Champion. Bernardo started training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Juiz de Fora - MG, Brazil at the age of 14 in 2001. After receiving the Black Belt from his first instructor Ricardo Marques in 2008, He moved to Sao Paulo to join BJJ legend Fabio Gurgel and his Alliance team. After many years of training and winning many major titles, Bernardo moved to NYC in 2013 to train and teach at Marcelo Garcia Academy. In 2015 Bernardo achieved his dream of winning the IBJJF World Championship Open class title and his division, doing the double Gold and becoming the 1st in the IBJJF Ranking and also choosed as the best athlete of 2015.

I used to think rubber guard was only reserved for a few unorthodox players who would smoke too much dope to be able to use it...until this week, my coach taught us the progression and finishes from sanitarium and a things just clicked *boom*

But the most elite grapplers have adapted around the 10th planet system and have beat all of Eddie's best students. Unless Eddie for some reason has not had any students worthy of truly mastering his style/system, but it seems more likely that 10th planet is a very effective but not quite optimal/revolutionary system.

You know Eddie and Joe are good friends who go way back, and Joe got his BJJ black belt from Eddie at the 10th planet and that Joe financially helped Eddie start the tenth planet dojo and helped come up with the name... Eddie could pop in on an ongoing podcast and get welcomed in. His spot has been secure since the beginning of JRE in Joes house.

A really important part of Eddie's system is often overlooked, and that is all of the sweeps, back takes, mounts and generally 'normal jiu jitsu' that exists along the path to each 'wild' technique. A lockdown can turn into a dogfight which leads to many high percentage sweeps. A failed electric chair leads to a reliable pass. The rubber guard can quickly turn into a regular triangle. All normal jiu jitsu techniques via a slightly different path.

As much as we like to make Eddie into a meme, he has influenced the culture of jiujitsu a lot by who he has surrounded himself with, and his own personal philosophy on the art and how it’s landscape can evolve. Not saying everything he says is right or wrong, especially when it comes to his personal beliefs, but I have mad respect for Master Eggie Brah. But his Epstein talks... look into it

No it's 'pimp arm' (stiff arm technique) it's one of Eddie's words... he invents rubber guard he gets to name the moves... granted that one was already called stiff arm but he probably didn't know that when he started calling it that.

Brazilian jiu-jitsu is a grappling system evolved far, far past that of basic Japanese Jujutsu, especially on the ground, which is BJJ's unique specialty. JJJ branched out and evolved into Judo and then Judo branched out and evolved into BJJ, which has continued to evolve into a wide spectrum of modernized grappling forms, with new BJJ techniques, tactics, strategies, and metas being extensively pioneered by top competitors and coaches over the past couple decades. The best BJJ practitioners in the world right now represent a unique expertise/specialization in submission grappling that is probably unmatched in the entire course of human history.
