Loved your streams of this even though the game itself was hard to watch given how bad the story was.

Before i watch your video, I'll say it here. The game is unplayable for me. Every cutscene for me has been totally glitched out. The characters float across the scene and jerk in and out of animation. The audio cuts out and restarts during those scenes, and when the game corrects itself, the audio isn't synced, and then repeat. Same in the gameplay. I'll sneak up on a zombie and when i grab it, it starts doing some t-pose or something (it's not a t-pose, but the same idea). I restarted the game over 5 times trying to fix the problem. I deleted the game, and restarted which helped a bit, bit now I'm having issues with the game freezing, especially when it auto saves, or when i manual save. The ps4 ends up rebooting itself. That's happened maybe 4 times. I haven't got past the first time you patrol with Dina. I think that's her name. Never have i ever had issues like this in a ps4 game or any ps for that matter. Now I'll watch your video. Thank you for your channel and hard work btw!

That was slightly misleading ;0 With a little bit of thought they could have made that really interesting. If for a split second Ellie thought that she saw Joel as part of her ptsd and then it turned out it was Jessie, that would have worked on all levels. It was clear that a lot of this whole thing was based on making money and the rest on pushing a progressive agenda where anyone who is agreed was a homophobe or gamergater.

No, he left various enemies during his escape from the hospital (while carrying Ellie). There was too many of them, and he had to carry Ellie, so...yeah, a lot of them survived.

Doesn't that happen to every trailers even in movies? Like they basically edit out the order of the scenes and put out a video that is completely unrelated to the dialogues to trick people. I learned this when I studied filmmaking.

Even with what he did to the fireflies, I find it hard to believe that it would occur to most people that simply telling someone your name, would get you massacred. From what I recall, Joel pretty much butchered every single firefly at the base in TLOU 1, he even killed one of their leaders because "you would just come after her". So it's probably pretty safe to assume he thought he'd eliminated any witness capable of coming after him. I don't know, imo Naughty Dog created a pretty believable scenario for Joel's death and it feels like fans just find it impossible to believe Joel could make a mistake that'd cost him his life. It's not like he "trusted" his life with those strangers, he was forced to hole up with them, it was either hunker down with some strangers, or chill outside in the snow with the massive horde of clickers. The only mistake he made was telling them his name, but how on earth was he supposed to have known they were firefly remnants hunting for him?

So you don't remember Joel running with ellie in his arms while a billion of flashlight lights from the fireflies chasing him shining while they tried to intercept Joel on his way to elevator, but not shooting so they don't hit ellie? Then Joel goes to the basement, stops the elevator with the red stop button so they don't follow and kills marlene before he runs away. So no one would come after him after that? And on the other point, Joel would wait outside or in a separate room, and not go into the room with a bunch of strangers and stand in the middle of the room, exposed like a doofus, saying they seem to have heard of him. Stop making excuses for lazy and bad writing. Joel was a survivor with 20 years of experience and even is mentioned in TLOU2 that he's way too careful and cautious and overprotective of ellie and everyone even on normal patrols. Neil Drcuckman even admitted they were planning to structure the story differently but didn't.

@@creed22solar123 but part 2 takes place years later after the first game when the fireflies are assumed to be wiped out at this point, its not hard to believe that Joel who's spent years at Jackson living a peaceful life that he'd changed as a person , we already see in the first game that he regained his humanity again through Ellie and that after the winter where he comforted Ellie that he now has something to fight for and that's why he kills almost all of the fireflies including the doctors because he didn't want lose another daughter again because she gave him something to fight for but he knew Ellie would have wanted to die for hopes of a cure because she has survivors guilt from when she lost Riley, that's why he lied to her for years because he knows this and when Ellie demands him to finally tell the truth it crushes Ellie and he ends up losing the one thing that he cared about the most.. so its not unrealistic or stupid to think that he would want to change as a person for Ellie because all he'd want at this time would be for her to forgive him and what better way to do then changing and doing the right thing ? he's obviously trying to do right by Ellie and doing what he thinks she would want like going out helping people and bringing them back to the community , Ellie's pissed because she wanted her immunity to mean something, she thinks humanity is probably doomed now so because Joel loves her hes showing Ellie that humanity can still survive without a cure so when Joel saves Abby hes probably doing it thinking its what Ellie would want but hey im not going to say what i think Joel should of done, i love Joel but i didn't create him Neil Druckmann did and he and Troy Baker know him better then anyone so if Neil were to ruin his character im sure Troy Baker would disagree with the decision but he doesn't and its obvious playing part 2 and all the detail's that Jackson is a kind community and Joel is a respected member for a reason.. and when Joel knows hes about to die he doesn't really question it because he knows hes done alot of fucked up shit even before he met Ellie and one day it would catch up to him but he holds his own like the badass that he is because in the end he got the girl

I don't know man, it kinda makes sense to me. Because for the 20 years of his life, he was living as a smuggler which he encounters enemies like Robert and other untrustworthy people more often. But for the next 5 years, he was living in a community with full of great people, helping each other and building trust with each other. He had long gone left his past life. Sure, he still probably encounters enemies but it was probably lesser than most players think. It even showed in the log books that the majority they encounter outside their perimeter are infected while all of the strangers they encountered are friendly. Joel and Tommy were dumb for doing that but I think it is justified. I get what you guys mean though. I also thought about your argument before. You don't have to agree with my statements above but if you're really wanna look for an answer, I think this is as good and logical as it can get. Let me know your thoughts

@@danknerevarine3678 Joel was not Neil’s own character. There were other people involved in directing the first game. People who basically shot most of Neil’s ideas down. Those people left or were pushed out...I’m gunna go for the latter, and Neil ultimately was made lead director. The Mexican character with the hair bun was assumed to be a self insert of Neil spitting on Joel(who represents masculinity and white males and fatherhood, and the game was released on a Friday just before the Father’s Day weekend back in 2020, not a coincidence) but Neil denied it was a self insert. Though it’s obvious that it is. And the intention of having him spit on Joel’s body was intentional as well. A Mexican spitting in a toxc white male who’s from Texas, a red state that’s very conservativ? In a country that’s very politically volatile right now regarding the border? Neil made the character have a manbun and slightly dark skin just like him, but it would’ve been too obvious if he made him j_wish, like Neil. A game like a movie is the sum of its parts. Every camera angle, wardrobe, line of dialogue, sfx, musical sting or que to manipulate your emotions,....actor position, gesture or remark is there by design and directed by the DIRECTOR. That was definitely a self insert of Neil making a statement. He hates everything Joel represented(hence the treatment the character got) and ultimately he hates America. Because in case you’ve been living under a rock, the left has waged social war on this country, especially the wite males. They hate nuclear families too. It’s all about the ranbow agenda and systematicly dismantling of the American way of life, most of it subtly through propaganda, which has infested the entertainment industry....an umbrella that encompasses movies, music, fashion, tv, comic books, literature and video games. It’s an onslaught on all fronts. And Neil thinks he’s slick. I can see it.

@@Susanoo7108 That forced scene in Spec Ops was the the one thing I didn't have feelings for. Everything else in that game was filled with so many organic decisions (which rope you climbed down, who you shot or didn't shoot, etc.) that weren't displayed as some kind of menu, it was great. And the big finale scene for SpecOps mentions the forced event, but it recalls many of the other organic events and also is just well written overall.

Fr and the whole dynamic between Abby and Lev is almost reminiscent of Joel and Ellie in the first game it’s like they tried to make us feel that playing as Abby is the same as playing as Joel

That would make the story so predictable. The reason Ellie let Abby live was because of Lev. The moral of the story is second chance. Just How Abby gave second chance to the scars that saved her. If Ellie killed Abby, what about Lev? Who would actually win the situation.

Sarkkinator still a shit game and the ending practically made it worse the least we could have gotten was our cathartic vengeance on Abby but no the game just robs us of that and leaves not just Ellie with nothing but also the player with nothing and ultimately making everything we did after Joel’s death a waste of time

i honestly hated alot of this game while playing and seeing the false ending had me saying "finally" until had to play Abby again and I just said "FUCK ME IM DONE!" turned off the ps and didn't play for another day and a half

I get really tired of everything needing to have a message nowadays. The first game was so good because it depicted humanity in a very real way, with very real human choices, with subtle artistic choices that turned it into a beautiful masterpiece; there was no message. It was artful for the sake of art. In the second game, they forwent all that for their message and it shows.

Abby gets her revenge on the one person that had wronged her, and actively makes a decision to not kill Tommy or Ellie when she had them at her mercy. Ellie goes on an absolute rampage killing everybody Abby cares about. This is what I don't get about people complaining about Abby and the story, the mental gymnastics they'll do to absolve characters and make out Joel is "in the grey" or somehow better than Abby, when he and Ellie do much worse than Abby ever does.

Ehat people dont ubderstand about hate is that it cannot bebased on nothing. Hate has origins and for hate to have meaning it must have an origin exposed. That origin is almost always love. As strange as it sounds love produces hate because we hate that which threatwns rhat whoch we love. Regardless of the size of the threat and it js this hate that drives us to protect and love to sacrifice.

They said the game sold 4 million copies in 3 days. Then that was the last sales figure for it. They never mentioned sales again. The LOU sold about 20 million I think.

@@skyfisher3506 - I loved the TLOU. Usually I don't care about video game stories but this one had me hooked. So I figured I might like TLOF2 since it seemed like the gameplay was good. I played about 8 hours, liked it, but never went back.

@@skyfisher3506 - TLOU2 felt like I was playing a inferior version of TLOU. They made improvements but I just felt like I would have more fun replaying part 1. And I did. What got me really mad , and this happens alot, is they made it seem like everyone who disliked the game were trolls who were sending death threats nd such to ND employees. That's not even close to the truth. Lots of people disliked the game but were respectful about it. They need to stop trying to invalidate critisism by labelling it coming from ''trolls''. This is the most common thing I've heard from people. The game doesn't present any reason for you to care at all about anyone in the game.

Joel was the only one I could connect with... I'm surprised I didn't care about Ellie and defo did not care about Abby.

I did care about Ellie, which makes me even more mad because she ends up as a depressed shadow of her former self.

There are few titles that tlou2 made me think about. First was life is strange. Much like lis, tlou2 tries to make a big deal out of things but failing to make you care about them enough for you to actually find it a big deal. Shock value on its own doesnt build emotions. There's only so much you can care about death, no matter how tragic. Secondly, latest GoW. It happened i played nier automata at the time and, as wellmade game as gow was, it tired me with plot. It was stretched to the brim while essentially carrying only one message. One theme, so transparent and so padded that i wanted to yell at the game: yes, i know, i get it! It's too little of [message]content for game of such scale. Minimalistic plot allows players to appreciate it - however, it much better works in experimental games and very rarely in AAA productions. Thirdly, mgs2. Much like tlou2, it deceived player with the playable character. However, it made player want to build Raiden into a new hero and allowed game to use it against player in a twist of 'gamer being in control' and Raiden breaking out of it. Additionally, it built him as a character with his own perks that made him unique, different from Snake, fleshed out. In tlou2.... not really. Fourthly, there's Drag on Dragoon, also known as drakengard. The first game was designed to be unbearable. Cacophonic ost, mundane combat. All characters were horrible. Game was message about insanity of violence and destruction, rubbing it in player's face. It was >designed< to be hated and "not fun" - but, unlike tlou2, it was not so transparent with it. Deep into first route, player would still think he's playing "fantasy knight with a dragon" game, and message was subtle. Tlou2 treats you like a cretin that needs the "reveal" be chewed and spelled out loudly. Finally, death stranding. I happen to work on game reviewing website. The 10/10 reviews come from reviewers who elevate themselves over players. Like oooh the primitive players wont get it, this is art, not fun, its made to be this way. However, DS was always clearly advertised as artistic piece - as an eccentric work of art, and everyone knowing past works of Kojima knew to expect such. Tlou is a story driven action game from makers of action games and advertised as such. Additionally, tokyo ghoul where the doctor did everything to be hate mongering monster, and prove to be inhumane, only for anime to proceed to make him a hero/good guy after he died solely because he was married. The tldr? Tlou2 did nothing new, and all it pretends it did, someone else did earlier and better.

worst thing is, there a cutscene which FORCED you to kill a dog anyway. im so mad since i avoid those patrol dog and bear without killing them and yet...

True story: my dad was running in the forest and crossed a family with a dog. My dad running excited the dog (?) so it ran too and broke its leash. It was trying to hurt my father so he started to threaten it and he yelled at the family «I swear to god if it touches me I kill it». Being sad for killing a dog in a zombie apocalypse is trash writing.

@@japs829 People are mad not because Joel died (a lot already predicted he's gonna die with the trailers alone). People are mad because of HOW he died. He and Tommy gave their names away easily and stood in a room with strangers without holding any weapon whatsoever. If you check their characters in the first game, Joel is always cautious with strangers, even with Ellie. And even though Tommy's softer compared to Joel, he knows when and when not to reveal his name to strangers. The scene where he was killed in the sequel was so forced and emotionally manipulative. And stupid when you think about why Abby and the others would leave Tommy and Ellie alive (even though it was clear they were close with Joel).

That started with uncharted 4 for me, and then when they started forcing their political views on their players I just gave up. Neil drucann is a shitty person.

They still have good content. Me personally, I always put a company on think twice grounds as a starting point. Keep your expectations low so you don’t get dissapointed.

I just think at the end Ellie just remembered her altercation with "bigot sandwich" and told Joel to fuck off. Then she realized "Oh yea, fuck you Joel!" and let Abby go. It literally makes no sense otherwise. Joel directly states during the game that he would kill the fireflies again, so flashing back to Joel sitting on the porch isn't even like a "Joel wouldn't want me to do this" situation. Joel would 100% kill Abby without even thinking about it.

Exactly! People can’t see this because they’re upset that Joel died and can’t look past that. Let’s be clear, Joel is my favorite video game character of ALL TIME and TLOU part 1 is my favorite video game EVER. However, Joel having consequences for his Ellie rescue by someone as equally morally conflicted and guilty as Abby makes perfect sense. And they executed that tie-in well. I didn’t want anyone else to die up to the point in the theater when Abby had Tommy ( and that sentiment includes Abby). I wish Jesse could’ve survived, but I’m overjoyed that Tommy got to live. Regardless, I was waiting for the moment that somebody just dropped the gun or let go of the chokehold and realized that it’s not going to stop unless I do. Breaking the chain. I’m especially thankful that it was the main character Ellie that did. Either way, I thought it was pretty solid.

The problem here, is that they use gore and violence as a scoring mechanism against COD. "Violence is bad, they killed terrorists, I'm scared." and they grade COD accordingly. They ignore gore and violence in LOU2 and do not use it against the game and claim it's 'realistic'. Yet Call of Duty, as much as you might dislike it, is much more realistic in it's core mechanics and depiction of terrorists than LOU will ever be. In fact, COD is a dressed up 'clean' form of violence. Real war, soup babies and the like, is infinitely more complex, nuanced and . . . dirty.

@Agent 005 Honestly, I didn't hate Other M. I respect what it was TRYING to do, though dear god did it fail to do so. I think they were attempting to humanize Samus and give her a more humble origin story so they could sort of build her back up into being a badass and people would go "woah, look how far she's come!" But it definitely didn't work. I understand WHY they wanted to do that, though. Samus had a pretty heavy lack of personality besides basically "be in suit, blow up planets/metroids." Thing is, she didn't NEED one. She was fine as a nearly silent, stoic badass who just wrecks faces. She was basically Doom Guy before the 2016 Doom rebooted him to be that. But from the Nintendo perspective, if she's so stand alone and stoic and self-sufficient, it's hard to add other characters and build up a cast of characters to go along with her and build up the "franchise." Mario has a huge cast of characters. So does Star Fox. Donkey Kong. Even Link has a lot of memorable and recurring allies (and sometimes enemies). Samus really has... herself and the iconic metroids (who aren't really characters). I can appreciate them trying to "expand the brand." They just did it in a really, really bad way. They could have had her rely on some others and team up and get help without completely undercutting the stoic badass that she is. Big shame.

People seem to miss that Tommy spoiled it not Joel. He is the one who tells Abby their names before they get on the horses. And he is also the one who introduces himself to the others first after Mel shook his hand and introduced herself. He is also the one who is trusting, while Joel is not. As they arrive and ask whether they need help with the horses, Joel brushes them off and says, they want to be out of their hair any moment. It is Tommy who invites everyone to Jackson. So even if you won't take into a account that Joel has lived quite a comfortable life in the last 4 years in relative security, and has found some meaning in his life, as opposed to the 20 years before that, which would probably make him less careful, it matters not. Tommy blew it. Not Joel.

Hard to say what demons he'll be holding onto...he was all but unconscious in the end of this game mirrors Ellie's fate from the first. Only the art direction they took in order to show the different themes and how they had the vision to show how this game was the same but different and much much more relatable at least for me. Ultimately Ellie is a twisted, frightening person. You've got that right. The game did so many things wrong. Abby wasn't even in the marketing, yet she is 50% of the whole game. All the marketing and trailers pointed towards another Joel and Ellie adventure. This is unfortunately not the case and is false advertising.

I've come to the realization that Naughty Dog games are the video game equivalent of Oscar-bait. They're super easy to play for the unskilled "games journalists", they're highly cinematic so the journalists can get some use out of their cinema studies major, and they're full of "progressive" political messages that these clowns approve of. ND games are designed to get 10/10 scores from reviewers, but are actually pretty boring for most gamers to play.

It's not just the animals. For example, when you perform a stealth kill with Ellie she violently stabs her victim in the throat or guts and blood spills out of them, while Abby just chokes them. Also when you shoot wolves as Ellie other wolves often shout their names in agony to make you feel guilty about killing a real human being, while as Abby i can't remember this ever happening. As gamers we are used to be violent while dealing with enemy NPCs so this probably flew right over most players heads, but those are all deliberate disign-choices to make Ellie unlikable. The guy i watched playing even wanted Abby to kill Ellie in the final fight, because he disliked her behavior and her choices so much.

It's not really fair to call it emotional manipulation because Abby and Ellie are literally the same person. Abby just was the one who got her revenge quest done first. Someone brutally murdered her dad. She wanted revenge. Who does that sound like? Oh, right, Ellie. The being nice to animals is a classic technique and it helps to speed along building empathy since we only have Abby for 10 hours of a game instead of a game and a half. The entire point of the game was to make you face the fact that the protagonist you're rooting for is all but identical to the antagonist you began the story hating.

ezraindustries Ellie shows hesitation and regret when she kills-Abby does not. She's far more cold-blooded and that's why the game directors tried extra hard to get us to like her. They failed.

I’m bisexual myself and I think they handled Ellie and Bill as gay characters in the first game really well. It was a bit on the nose with Lev but him being a trans boy i didn’t mind. It’s the awful writing and the fact we as the player are forced to play as the psychopathic person who killed Joel for literally half the game is why I’m depressed. Been waiting so long for this game and it sucks.

Last of us is like a 6/10 but Joel is not an innocent bunny, he's a bad person and even if he wasn't I wouldn't care because it's a post apocalyptic game, it doesn't need to be light hearted.

I personally see it as the cycle of revenge ‘is bad’. Abby gets her revenge, which enacts Ellie to seek revenge, resulting in many of who abby cares for dying and Ellie loses everything seeking this. I really think just saying revenge is bad undercuts the journey and nuances to the story, as goes with literally anything. So many movies and beloved games if you boil it down to a 3 worded theme can seem quite inconsequential.
