The Butternut discount is a great solution to the ripped food bags. Butternut gets her snack and customers get a discount! Bear has the most stunning eyes, he's such a beautiful dog. I'm really glad it was just an infection that didn't spread, hopefully, he stays nice and healthy from now on. It's also a handy example of why getting your pet desexed is so important.

The instant bear saw his owner, his ears dropped and his tail started wagging. I bet that is the most rewarding part about being a vet. Going from not feeling well at all to being brought out to their owner and see them be so happy am excited. Truly beautiful

We had to leave our cat at the vet a few times for a couple of days, each time she was very offended and did not even deign to recognize us…. 🙄 Not very rewarding for the vet, they were probably glad to see her gone 😂

Years ago, when I was in high school, my then boyfriend, now hubby and his mom went on a trip to the zoo. They had one of their elephants out and you could get a pic and a pet with him. It was amazing. I love elephants, they are so majestic.

Growing up in Wyoming (USA) a friend rescued a baby magpie that had gotten tossed out of the nest during a severe wind storm. She raised it and it learned to talk... was a very cool bird... when it was grown she released it back into the wild, but every so often it would return to visit and call my friends name to get her to come and say hi!

I've never understood that mindset. Firstly, it greatly makes their behavior more relaxed and less hyperactive. It can increase their lifespans by putting less strain on their hearts with less raging hormones, make them less likely to be aggressive and get into fights and less likely to get testicular cancer. Lastly, won't get female dogs pregnant

The mastiff looks more like he's mixed with german shepherd or malinois. Not a purebred for sure. But the fact the he got him from a "kennel" and he had parvo is enough information. Not responsible breeders for sure.

lol, small dogs are tiny little scavengers. I call my girl a shark. She sharks around like a carpet shark hoovering up whatever she can find. She's also extremely sweet and uses it to fool people into giving her food, including my own father who is NOT one to spoil dogs. If that corgi K(C)elvin is anything like my girl, that's what is going on here.

Problem is, when everyone feeds just a little bit of bread here, little meat there, etc without realizing everyone is doing the same, it's easy to loose track. Plus, the food likely swelled in his stomach overnight, hence why he was fine the night before

My local vet has 2 cats that live at the practice. When my cat was really unwell, and I was waiting at the surgery, it was lovely to have one of the cats sit with me while I worried. BTW my cat ended up just fine.

the fact that the dude got him from a KENNEL and didn't want to neuter him is so frustrating, i doubt the kennel would be happy or so willing to give him to him if they knew that. the reason kennels exist is because people don't desex their dogs.

For large breed dogs it’s actually recommended that you wait until they are full grown to fix them because removing their genitals also gets rid of their estrogen or testosterone supply which can cause issues down the road if they are neutered too early like bone cancer and hip dysplasia

@@alexisatuatara570 luckily that dog is around the right age to do it. if the owner had said "ahh, is he too young for it?" or the vets mentioned that as a concern, then that'd make sense. but he just went "ahh, i didn't wanna neuter him", implying permanent. they probably wanted to breed him.

Is a kennel like a shelter, there? Here a kennel is a dog breeder. Shelters always sterilize dogs here, they do not adopt breeding animals out to the public.

@@109367 kennel just means a type of building/shelter for cats or dogs, it can mean either a breeding building or a rescue shelter. i'm from nz and we use similar language to aussies and we use kennel to mean stray dog shelters; "the kennel"

I have a little video in my mind about that party but it isn't very complimentary to owners. Anyway, I think for several reasons, they should have separated Kelvin(?) from the party group. I hope mom learned something from the incident, not least of all that veterinary bills aren't any cheaper in Australia than anywhere else.

Or maybe instead of keeping the dog away from the party and guests You lay down the rules and say people are not allowed to feed the dog. We had a party a couple years ago, and we told each guest as they showed up that our dog was to be given ABSOLUTELY no food since he has severe allergies to human food, and we had to kick out 2 guests for attempting to break the rule. But we made damn sure that someone kept an eye on him and that no one fed him.

25:00 that bird is my spirit animal. I've had 4 surgeries on my left shoulder so far, waiting on the date for the 5th. They put in pins and other bits and bobs during the 2nd surgery, and took them out during the 4th, since they had done their job and were no longer needed. :D

Does kennel mean shelter in Australia? Here in Canada I don't believe a shelter is even allowed to adopt out a cat or dog unless its fixed or you agree to alter it

In this instance kennel likely refers to a breeders kennel. It is also a term for boarding kennels, where you have your dog stay while you're on holiday Even in a breeding kennel, you usually sign an agreement that you'll get your animals neutered/spayed.

there are shelter kennels and breeder kennels in australia, since the owner knew Bear to be a pure breed (australian? the images are a good match at least) mastiff it's safe to assume a breeder kennel and not a good one at that if parvo had been running around the place

Unless there is a health issue with them why take them off, FEMALE cats I understand. The heat they go through for not being spayed is miserable for them... but yet its not natural. Yes I know its required sometimes population control etc, but if my pet didnt need it I wouldnt do it...OR wait until my dog was fully grown and them remove them that way he gets the full amount of hormones he needs to get to his best potential... or YOU CAN TRAIN your animals.

I think the owner of Bear was quite nice. He said he didn't want to castrate him, but didn't hesitate to do it when it threatened Bear's health. He obviously cared enough to help him survive Parvo and he took him to the vet right away when he saw something was wrong.

Erin and his partner must really love bears, considering they named their dog Bear and their kid Bjorn, which is Swedish for bear (well, Björn is, but the name, which has been quite popular in Sweden from time to time for the last 1300 years or so, originates from that).

I always find it interesting that so many of the videos on Bondi that include people who have not spayed/neutered their animals. I wonder if it’s more common here in the states than is another countries because I can’t think of a single family member or friend whose dogs or cats haven’t been desexed. Or maybe it’s just the area I live in? Don’t know

if you mean bear, he's a larger dog breed and still had more growing to do so getting castrated wasn't something the owner was planning for at least another several months

Again, vet, tech 18 years, THEN bioscientific research technician after (yes, THAT'S what we're called in pre-clinical trial facilities, AKA animal testing facilities) and injectable pharmaceutical compounder. It has NOTHING to do with age, and everything to do with development. If you have a veterinarian worth their salt, they aren't going to endanger your pet by spaying/neutering prematurely. This all still sounds a great lot like human males getting threatened because their male dogs need to be neutered. Boo hoo. Get over it. We spay every female dog that come out of our system. We neuter every male dog that comes out of our system. SPAY AND NEUTER. END OF STORY.

I couldn't help but think of my sister's boyfriend when they were talking about bear and his infected testicle leading to cepsis. Her boyfriend at 43yrs old passed away in October because of the same thing. It's very scary. I knew cepsis is bad but never really understood how bad it could be until he died from it! Even in the modern world he couldn't be saved and it happened within 24hrs it is mind boggling how fast an infection can take over your body for pets and humans alike!! Anyway so glad bear is ok!!

Watch the video before reading comments. The comments don’t match what happened. Bear’s owner was not displaying toxic masculinity and didn’t want to keep the testicle. There was no indications that he wanted that infected testicle kept in his dog. He seemed genuinely concerned about his dog’s welfare. A kennel is like a shelter I think - a place where neglected, abandoned or rescued dogs are kept in hopes of finding a forever home.

He actually did say he’d prefer to not lose them before the surgery where they found it to be very infected. He would of liked his dog to keep his pair and be fine, but it was best for his dog to lose them he couldn’t refuse. He loves his dog.

That does not look like a mastiff to me. Any mastiff type or mastiff cross dog has a broad, blocky head! That looks more like a gsd cross......

lol he's so not a mastiff that dog has a ridgeback or the opposite facing fur on his back that Rhodesian ridgebacks have he's for sure a cross/mutt pry with a Rhodesian and a GSD

I didn’t know red tailed black cockatoo’s were endangered. I’m fortunate enough to see and hold/pet one at my monthly indoor parrot flight meet up and there are 2 at the zoo across the road from me.

I had a cat named Gigi. She was allowed to eat on her previous owner to eat on his shoulder. I had to put her in another room when I cooked and eating. Also when I I eating and food on counter had to cover them. When I went to work I I left a bowl full for her and other cat. She didn't like it when the bowl was empty.

Male dogs are not castrated until they are at least 18 months old. Bear’s case was an exception due to the medical emergency. The risk of septicemia from the infected testicle was very high. That dog would have died within a few hours if the owner hadn’t brought it in

@@ultimatewitcherfan6677 that's not true at all. Most vets recommend neutering at 6-9 months. That's the stance of the AKC canine health foundation too.
