End-of-week H/H match recap: ... There were 5 H/H matches total this week (breaking the jinx of the last 3 weeks in which the champion struck out on the audience super match every Monday). Of the five, 3 were successful: Brett 1/2, Richard 1/2, Fannie 1/1 We have to go back 5 weeks to find the last time 3 different celebs played in the H/H match in a single week. Despite this week's much appreciated variety (thanks to this terrific champion who rotated celebrities), Richard has still played 20 of the past 25 H/H matches (and he matched 9 of those 20 times). To recap our record-breaking mega-champion's H/H exploits: She first matched Richard in the H/H, and then Brett, and then Richard again, and then Fannie. Yesterday she selected Richard once more and missed for the first time. Today she chooses... Brett again! (Good gravy, Marie!) (If the champ wins this time, it will be her last game. As we first learned yesterday from Gene, CBS has a rule limiting any one contestant to $25,000 in total winnings. But sadly, we already know today's outcome if we've seen the title of the next episode's video.) Today's question: "_______ Mat" My first thought was door mat. Brett was comically verklempt as she wrote and filed her answer. (Personally, I'm disappointed if she's chosen and doesn't practically have a pretend heart attack!) The champion said door. Brett said bath. Well, it's hard to feel sad for a contestant who's won over $20,000, but I do anyway. On the bright side, she'll be back for the next show. Brett's accuracy scores drops back below Richard's again. I swear, those two are tied at the hip when it comes to their H/H track record - they flip back and forth over and over and never diverge by much more than a percentage point, and usually are even closer together than that. And Fannie finishes the week with a new and improved accuracy score that her colleagues can only dream of! Looking ahead to next week, we see that Fannie hangs around with our 3 regulars for another week. It's rare for a semi-regular to stay for two consecutive weeks, although Fannie did it once before, during episodes 461-470. Also back is Louisa Moritz, making her third and final week of appearances. She hasn't had a shot at the H/H match yet. Rounding out the panel is "new kid on the block" Sheldon Leonard. This will be his one and only week on Match Game '7x. It'll be interesting to see if next week's winning contestants continue to mix it up for the H/H match, or if they all go back to selecting Richard... Here's the updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 83.3% (5 wins in 6 attempts). TIE: Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). Fannie - 52.6% (10 wins in 19 attempts). Betty - 46.9% (15 wins in 32 attempts). Charles - 45.2% (19 wins in 42 attempts). Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts). Richard - 39.2% (122 wins in 311 attempts). Brett - 38.8% (19 wins in 49 attempts). Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 565, excluding the lost/missing episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!")
Bob Barker was an intimidating presence for Gene I can see it in Gene's body language. Arlene Francis is adorable give her 10 shows and she'd be just as sharp as Richard
Maybe because it was Richard answers that they went ahead and matched it and Fannie's to keep having to fight about it. Even Richard thought it was the same.. ;0)

Pretty good week this week but Fannie won the week giving away 6,000 dollars in head to head and audience match matches with 11 matches for the semi regulars. Richard won for the regulars giving away 5,750 dollars in head to head and audience match matches. Brett gave away 3,000 dollas in audience match matches. Both Richard and Brett tied with 14 matches each for the week.
HUH?? Oinking is squealing? Poor Henry. I think the judges had their favorites. I can't stand the sight of this woman's face now and this was 40 years ago...lol.
Edward Lozano I think he expressed it in a bad way, not meaning to put down his granddaughter. Still, I'm sure he got in trouble with his whole family. I just hope his granddaughter was too young to understand what he said.😢
9:13 The guy in yellow in the front row looks like he got his wardrobe from Ralph Furley! (For those who don't know who I'm talking about, that's a "Three's Company" reference.)
Bath Mat?? Actually as much as I wanna be mad at Brett, I think I’m more disappointed in the contestant. For the chance of being the show’s first contestant to achieve $25K she should have picked anyone but Brett!
No, she usually matches. And that's not fair to say that. I would pick Brett over Richard all the time. He failed to match many, many times. And it's the same two people who say this about Brett, you should meet, you deserve each other 🤨 Oh and Richard failed to match her on her last game, she also could have been up to 25k. Wake up!!
She had her moments. But all in all she was very annoying, disruptive and thought the show was hers, or all about her, or that she was the "star". There are shows or episodes that You could see that Gene had it with her or enough of her and the ones that he would correct her or flat out tell her to shut up that, "this is my show and if anyone needs help or assistance "I" will do it". Then you could see the embarrassment on her face and she would be quiet, for a short time.
ROFL! Another fine after dinner episode! ;0) ROFL! Love ya Gene! ;0) ROFL! Love ya Charles! ;0) ROFL! Love ya Fannie! :0) ROFL! Shame on Henry for what he said about his granddaughter. I'm sure lots of grandparents have thought their grandkids were unfortunate looking, but they had the good sense and decency not to openly express it.
