Matt watches Aeterna by SIMONE SIMONS for the FIRST TIME!!! 

Last week, In "Love We Rust" was released as the second single from the upcoming album "Vermillion". Very impressive. If you measure up to these two songs, the album will be a monster. As for the pronunciation of her name: almost right( but only almost).😀

Its indeed a whole solo album upcoming from Simone Simons, and Arjen Lucassen wrote music to it all i belive, this was 1st single, 2nd single is also out now called In Love we rust, totally diffrent song, its a ballad i would say, and i think the whole album is gonna be very diverse, i know for example there is a song in Dutch on to.. another fun fact the colour Red have its present in every song on album somehow, Arjen and Simone said in a video i watched..

Yes, Arjen wrote the music. Simone wrote the lyrics with Lori Linstruth, Arjen's partner. Solo side project, EPICA is indeed working on album #9. This album, "Vermillion" is due out August 23. Arjen was very busy, working on 3 projects at once, this album, the DVD/Blu-ray for the Ayreon concert last fall. And the Lucassen & Soeterboek's Plan Nine album, The Long Lost Souls, Arjen's collab with Robert Soeterboek, songs started 30 years ago and just put together. Those last 2 have been released. You pronounced Simone's first name pretty good, the last name is more like See-mons, but she has heard the English pronunciation so many times it doesn't bother her and she will answer to it.

Her second release In Love We Rust is quite different from this one. Love both songs for different reasons. This album is going to be amazing 😁.

Having heard this song and the other that was only released days ago, I predict this will be Ayreon adjacent, sound-wise. Which is actually pretty cool, I really enjoy Ayreon and the music is very suitable for Simone's voice. I'm not crazy about the video, but at least it's not AI (it's actually Patric Ullaeus!)... Good thing I still have time to preorder.

I liked her second single “in love we rust” much more, a very powerfull emotional song

Interesting thing about this composition is that there are only two voices. Simone sang all the female choir and backing vocal parts and there was one male singer who sung all the male choir parts. Obviously an artistic choice, certainly not the easy option.

I kind of expected to hear more Simone, not just Arjen's music with her voice as it's her solo album and not a collaboration project. I like the second single "In Love We Rust" more. I wonder what the rest of the album sounds like.
