Maurer & Wirtz Tabac EDT Fragrance Review (1959) 

In my opinion this is a great scent, and to be as inexpensive as it is, it's quite complex. It is one of those scents that for whatever reason I never seem to get tired of and it does gather compliments from all ages. For me, it kind of operates in the background without being too prominent and is easy on the nose. Some colognes I wear, while initially smelling good, I find myself eventually fighting the air around me no matter how much I like them. While it inevitably fades away in time, it does so gracefully without any odd changes to the notes. I've been wearing it for years and hope they continue to make this current formulation available. This is a good review.

I find similar to Aramis And Aramis Havana. Kind of a mix of both Flowers, tobacco and spices. I like more the EDT. I used little tricks yo turn the actual EDC into the Old fórmula smell ( similar).

This with halston z14 used to be my father perfume both are nice and mature perfume with a great price. I like z14 more u should review it

The EDT is actually a newish version of the Cologne which i prefer over the EDT. They open kinda the same but the EDT develops a strange sweetness.

Which is better the EdC or the EdT?

I saw this at a local shopping mall Mom 'n Pop fragrance store here in Las Vegas on Saturday. I picked up a bottle of YSL Opium Pour Homme instead. Maybe I should go back and pick up a bottle of this Tabac too.

How does it compare to Drakkar?

There is a short review by Agnes Eva on Tabac, and she is German, so she pronounces the house name at reference level :) It's in her "Part 2: 32 TOP Office/Work Fragrances for Men" video. She also mentions there: to her nose there is no Tobacco in the Tabac EDT, and I must completely agree. Mostly floral+spices, oldschoolish, but I don't pick tobacco. Worth noting, tobacco is not listed in either the EDT or the EDC on Parfumo. Fragrantica has two different entries, but both for the Cologne: one from 1959, and one from 2014. The 1959 one includes a second photo of an older EDT bottle, and only in that Fragrantica entry a Tobacco note is included, only there. The entry for the 2014 EDC has no tobacco note listed either. I read a couple of comments here praising the Cologne over the EDT. I have both (in fact also the After Shave) and must disagree, though not meaning it's the other way around. To me the EDT and EDC are both at the same overall level. They actually smell quite similar, the cologne being very slightly more fresh and "vegetal" to me, the EDT slightly more "floral/spicy". Also the EDT lasts longer than the Cologne, as anyone would expect given their concentrations.

A good, but unspectacular fragrance. It's stuffy and old timey, floral classical masculine that reminds me mostly of Old Spice. Top notes are awesome but when it dries down it doesn't smell much like anything.

Edc is way better
