Hands down the best video I have seen re the Polar Pro ND & ND/PL filters for M2P. Finally someone who tells you (like with all polariser filters) they only work best at 90 degrees to the sun. Thanks for sharing.
Hey Russ, great review and test of the new Polar Pro ND/PL filters. The best part was your explanations of why you need them and most of all how to use them, well done! I use mine for my Mavic Pro religiously, they work extremely well, Thanks!
Thank you for making this video!! I have been in the ND filter shopping market for a few weeks and i cannot believe i didn’t see this video!!! Ordering my pack now!!!
Even in 2020 Russ I used your video to buy the Freewell 8 pack for my upcoming trip to Marco Island, FL with my Mavic 2 Pro!!! You are the reason I pulled the trigger on my first drone, the Mavic 2 Pro and I cant thank you enough. I just wish i flew it more..... also a big shout-out from here in the Twin Cities, love seeing RU-vid build stars so close to home! I gotta know one thing though, UND or NDSU? totally fine if you like NDSU Football and UND Hockey by the way. 2 of the best programs in the country for their respective sports.
Thank you for actually describing how to set the polarizer. Most videos I have watched on it gloss over that and just say how to turn it but not where to turn it to.
Thanks for your video on ND filters. Recently received my first drone (M2Pro) and having to learn how to shoot video. Having a still camera background is helpful.
WOW...great job explaining the little white mark on the polorizers...I haven't been able to figure the settings of it well....this will help for sure....noon for cloudy....2 or 3 o'clock for sunny🙂 great job and may God bless
You were flying very straight and smooth on the ND + PL filter and turning a little on the plain ND filters. It would have been nice if the comparison was the exact same video. It made the ND + PL look better.
Thanks for this review! I had Polar Pro for my MP Platinum & was very satisfied with them so I was about to order the exact set you reviewed. Glad they continued with their excellent quality! I’ll definitely be ordering these. Happy flying & love your videos. PS... please keep us up to date on all these FAA rule changes... ugh 🙄
Hey Russ, Great Info. I just made the move this week, from my Mavic PP to the Mavic 2 Pro. Purchased the PolarPro ND PL Series. I enjoyed the simplistic view on what the filters do for you. It helps you better understand the value, especially here in Central FL. with the extreme sun. Thanks...
great video thanks. i have just taken delivery of my Mavic Air 2, but getting really confused over the filters. Do the filters for the Mavic 2 Pro fit the Mavic AiR 2? I have already sent one set back as they didnt fit. Many thanks. Now subscribed..
Great advice. I had been trying to find some help on how to adjust the polarisation dial. Can’t find the app though. Is the app only available in the US?
Hey brother great video and thanks for the help. Quick Q, theres a version of the NDs that come with just the polarized versions. Is that good to just use or do i need to get the unpolarized version lenses as well.
Hi. Great Video! I am on the fence between a PL version or a non-PL version. I will be shooting in DLOG-M so my colors will be more neutral from the camera. If I were to apply the PL version of the filters, would that mess up my post-production? And last question is since the PL version can be dialed back to reduce the polarizing effect, would it make sense just to buy the PL version and just keep it "off" until you really need it? In my case I would only need it when there is a lot of glare. Thanks!
Did you have any problems with the magnetic case that came with the filters? Would the case interfere with the drone sittings. I like to bundle everything together for transport. I’m looking for a alternative case without magnets for my Polar Pro Filters any advice?
Hi, thank you for your video! Can you please tell me is it worth purchase whole set of 6 filters nd and nd/pl? What is better to use most of the time: standard ND filter or ND/PL? And for snow shots do i need something like ND32, ND64 or it will be enough ND16? Thank you!
If you are a frequent user, the 6 pack may be worth it. For sunny snow shots, you will likely need a 32 or 64. I would recommend the 16 for the majority of situations
Great informative video, thanks for the easy tip on how to dial in the pl filters. I noticed you said we should use it any other way than directly against the sun, i tried that last time i was out shooting, the sun came through some trees so i took a photo of it, but the result was a giant green lens flare in the image- i used nd4pl.
When u say “when the dot is placed at the top”. Sorry but I’m a newbie, top of what? I just bought my first drone and I bought some filters because I like the effect. So when you say set at 2 or 10, what is the reference point? Thanks for any response.
Russ, once again nice video. Thank you so much for sharing! I wanted to ask you though, doesn't the beeping controller drive you nuts? I gutted mine and replaced the internal speaker with an red LED on the front plate. I wish I could show you. It's a cool mod I feel.
Would it better to buy the polar Pro in the custom assortment and go with 8ND,8PL,16ND,16PL,32ND,32Pl on a Mavic Pro 2. I think I can do with out the 4 as I can change my aperture enough on a cloudy day. Any thoughts?
Thanks for your review. I do not use any filters now but plan to buy some for my P4PV2.0. I was curious as to which of your two cameras that you have listed you used to create this video? On TNL and today, your video is noticeably sharper and clearer than others. Also, are you using on camera for audio or something separate?
Gj for video... could you unfold mavic 2 and put back gimbal clamp with polar pro nd filter on it? On phantom 4pro+ it cant be done, so I must put back original lence before puting clamp back...
Please excuse my extremely dumb question but once you purchase the ND filters for the Mavic 2 Pro, how does one take a long exposure? Are you holding the camera button down longer? I’m so confused.
To take long exposure photos, you need a very strong ND filter, like a ND256 or ND400. Then you set your shutter speed to something like 1 second. I did a video on it with the Mavic Air. Watch it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xO5TL0LfUNw.html
When I place a polarized filter on my Mavic 2 Pro prior to startup, I get "gimbal droop" where the gimbal does not calibrate correctly and ends up just pointing at the ground. if I allow it to calibrate first and then put on the polarized filter it functions normally. The regular ND filters do not cause this issue. Have you experienced this?
No, I have had no issues at all. Hmmm . . . The weight should be exactly the same, so I"m not sure. I would send a message to PolarPro and ask. If you use Twitter, that's the best way, because they usually get right back to you.
@@51Drones thanks for replying. They are not from PolarPro, they are from Fstop Labs. I tried weighing them but they do not register on my digital scale. I am going to buy the PolarPro set and see if the problem persists. I will let you know.
Way to go Russ, dagavuwe same as the MP1 a year ago. Loving the presentation and the way you deliver your script - so clear and straight to the necessary relevant information. Keep em coming my friend, How is the "Professional / commercial / Russ" going? any cool drone contract projects? It is so cool that finally you are getting the recognition you have worked hard for and well done to Polar Pro for sending the filters to you for Free! ....do you get to keep them? if yes then that is part of my incentive to continue to create and grow my channel to a point worthy of spongers just like you. The Drone Lawyer TNL #62. lol Cheers my brother, Ooroo mate
Exactly to clip that i was looking for. I want to buy the PolarPro filter's because i heard that they are the best for my future Mavic 2 Pro. My first drone. :) I will use the your link to buy the 12 pcs of Cinematographers Collection, because i want to suport your chanel. Good job. P.S. I will use the link from my other acoount, but i will use it.
@@51Drones Hi. I want to order it as i promised, but i see that you don't have a link for these: www.polarprofilters.com/collections/mavic-2-filters-accessories/products/mavic-2-filter-ultimate-collection?variant=12626520768596 .Can you provide one?
@@marcelcornel82 They only have that available on their website, as it's not an actual package. They just put it all together specifically for their site. You could just get it from them and tell them I sent you! 😁
Hi Russ, very good information but I want to ask you a question that is off topic. In your last video you said that we must register our drones and that later there will be a small test that we as hobbyist will have to take. My question is that if I go through and take the test and now I am legal to fly my drone by following the rules what if I have a friend or relative with me that wants to fly my drone. They don't own a drone so can I still let them fly as long as I am with them?
That is a very good question, and I imagine as the rules become finalized, they will address that. As it stands now as a Part 107 pilot, I can be in the presence of someone flying a drone for furtherance of a business and that is legal. So I assume the same would eventually be the same for recreational flights.
Hi, let me ask you this: Most likely we will edit the videos we take on a computer, so.. wouldn't that be the same results as buying the filters? Im new at this, and i got a Mavic 2 Pro. Thank you!
No, because you need to use the filters to allow you to get that slower shutter speed for optimal motion blur. If your shutter speed is too high, your video looks sharp and jittery. Yes, you can edit the comors in post, but not the smooth video
Hey Russ and gang, I have an issue with my mavic Pro. I have noticed in the last couple of flights it is drifting left as you look at it from the front.. I have tried re-calibrating the compass but it hasn’t made a difference. The mavic is drifting when there is no wind.. any ideas.. many thanks and keep up the good work Russ.
I just emailed them, and they said shipments start going out the end if this month. I was told there was a shipment delay from China. I let him know people were upset about it taking so long. Sorry for the trouble. I don't like recommending products that don't meet expectations. I hope you get it soon!
Another informative video, So Russ, whats the diff between 10:00 am and 10:00 pm. for settings. Blah ha. lol couldn't resist. I wouldn't give you any crap if I didn't like ya. Peace
Right because your upside down.lol So why is the Mavic 2 pro picture warmer? An editor told me you can pull more colors in post if you record a little warmer.
Hey Chuck. That is the LowePro BP150. Awesome bag. I did a review on it a couple of videos ago if you need more info. My hats are $23.50 (US only) If you want one, you can send payment to paypal.me/51drones and I will get it right in the mail!
I should have had mine by now... but Polar Pro *LOST* my order!!! Yeah. Lost it. I'd like to recommend they fire their website designer, because if he lost mine he lost others.
Been enjoying all the vlogs on the Mavic 2 Pro great work - if you get a moment please do go have a look at my channel & advise on any tips & tricks on drone flying - just subscribed
