This slide show tells the story of our May 22 - May 30 canoe trip to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in Northern Minnesota. It was yet another great trip!
Alan, Paul and I entered at Moose River North and leisurely paddled towards Iron Lake. Since we only had 3 guys, Alan and Paul paddled Paul's Souris River Quetico and I paddled my Northstar Northwind solo.
We saw a wolf, a bear and many swans this trip. We also ate several meals of fish, along with fresh morel mushrooms a couple times.
Because of lots of rain before and during the first part of our visit, the rivers were high. That caused some of the portages to be a bit of a challenge.
Due to an ongoing Search and Rescue operation on Iron Lake we decided to only go as far as Lac la Croix.

And another fantastic trip. Many great pictures but my favorite is the sleeping beaver. First time to see a beaver sleeping like a turtle out on a rock. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for this wonderful video. I have been watching your videos for several years, and I have your photography notes from your BWJ article in my pack. We were the large group you meet at the portage into Lake Agnes heading back down from Lac La Croix. You stayed at the camp we left. I hope all was in good order! Keep up amazing work. You inspire me!

Isaac, I remember your group! Yes, the site on Agnes had been left in great shape, complete with some firewood, thank you 🙂 Where did you end up staying on Lac la Croix? I have to say you inspire me... taking a group that size and being so calm and under control! Especially under some of the more challenging portage situations. It's fun to hear from you!

We ended up with a great campsite just opposite Warrior Hil (176) which we thoroughly enjoyed! 5 Stars.

I was hoping you would be putting out another trip video and a good one you did. You really capture on film what the BW is all about, at least from my view. Where are you all heading to in the fall? Any plans on a Quetico trip?

Thanks Donald! I haven't started planning a fall trip yet. Doubt it will be Quetico though with all the additional permits and fees.

Wendy, thanks for the feedback. I debated whether to include it, but in the end, decided to include it as a tribute to the paddlers and rescue personnel. While we were up there, there was much concern amongst those we ran into on the portage trails, including a couple of rangers, over the safety and status of those missing. The story has become part of our memories of the trip.

I appreciate you including the tribute to the paddlers in the video. From what I read about them, they loved the BWCA and this was a wonderful way to honor them.
