I think this night time footage Val captured is the Tornado that would become the Mulhall Tornado.

I remember driving around looking at the damage the next day around the perry area. I’ve never seen trees that big snapped like toothpicks. I was 4 at the time and still remember it vividly

+HappyQuails , Most new construction has the base-plate bolted to the foundation and most roofs are now hurricane strapped to the sidewalls. Keep one thing in mind, you want your house to be aesthetically pleasing and not look. Then there's the issue with windows. Maybe a retractable 1/4 inch steel plate might work, but keep in mind that everything you add costs that much more per square foot. They're also suggesting a four to six inch vertical slab of concrete on the outside of the sidewall studs, then brick. This makes for a mighty thick sidewall. As far as a tornado proof roof, who knows.

+Robert Sunderland Thanks Robert, it is very helpful to have those details readily available and made a part of the discussion online because more needs to be done as long as we continue to make the commitment to rebuild in highly tornado prone areas which traditionally have been left without underground shelters and no commitment made to using reinforced masonry and concrete.

The question is if people want to pay for a house that could withstand an F5 tornado. You can find anyone to build whatever you want. Are you willing to pay tons of money for basically a reinforced concrete floor to ceiling house? Or, maybe just one room like that?

You're so right. We use to live in Cushing, which gets 'em a lot, but we moved over here in south Broken Arrow in the hills and haven't seen anything the two years we've lived here.

According to you Bill afonzo Descagliochie, Florida and any coastal city along with most of the Midwest, and the California coast, should just pack up and leave, eh? This is apart of the way of life in most of Oklahoma, Kansas, Mid-North plus the panhandle of Texas, Nebraska, and South Dakota. We prepare, we brace, we pick up the pieces and move on. As for the more direct emphasis on Moore Oklahoma, steps are being taken, as is human nature, to prevent lives being lost because, well, you cant control the weather. Oklahoma is a very nice place to live, I enjoyed it. As an added note, the cost to rebuild from the 1999 and 2013 Bridge Creek-Moore Oklahoma Tornadoes averaged out to approx. $4 Billion. Hurricane Harvey and Irma combined is more than likely gonna come out to around $200 Billion. I think Tornado alley is fine as far as economics is concerned. As for loss of life, well, I covered that part. You run from a Hurricane, you hide from a Nader.

These were old suitcase cell phones, towers were just being built around the country, chief meteorologist was speaking to several spotters in different locations, plus issuing live warnings on the TV, and when Val had info that could save lives he was urgently trying to get through.
