Maya came from a Brothel. That’s her past. Why can’t she simply Repent of this and say it wasn’t a good life choice? I hate when people don’t want to take accountability for their past choices.

I absolutely adore Dr. Maya Angelou. She is one of my all-time favorite authors. Her work touches deep parts of one's inner being, and her truth-telling had a way of being cathartic for so many. Rest in power great genius of the pen and spoken word. Thank you for your extraordinary body of works, and thank you for being you.❤❤🙏🙏🙏.

I remember being in elementary school laying on the floor in my bedroom reading I know why The Caged Bird Sings by a ray of sunlight & wishing one day I would meet her. Hurt my heart when she passed but my poetry is inspired by her for sure. RIP DR Angelou ✒️✒️✒️🗒️

I read I know why the caged brid sings when I was 11 and again when I turned 12. I loved writing poetry at this time and her work, Edgar Allen Poe, along with Shakspeare where some of my inspirations at the time. I'm liucky to have grown up in a time where parents just cared that you read and not really about the content smh parent's today are insane when literacy rates are down acros the board to want to censor anything tbqh.

Loved this one. I mean I enjoy all of these videos but Maya Angelou's life and legacy was so impactful to me during girlhood. It's nice to see that she didn't shy away from her truth, from being a REAL person who made REAL choices, regardless of public shame that others might find or say. That to me made her more profound, the fact that she never pretended to be perfect, and yet people still admired her brilliance. RIP Dr. Maya Angelou❤

I understand that addressing elders in the community requires respectful titles for e.g. Mr., Mrs. Sir, etc. but I was shocked at the way in which she was so triggered and hostile towards the young woman in the audience who was clearly shaken and close to tears. Kind of hard to watch and an overreaction in my opinion.

Great video about a Great Women..The series Black Blues ,Black was about the African American ( Blues, Soul, Gospel ) & our connection to Africa..Great series. they have been running the series lately going into Black History Month on my local PBS Also in the documentary And So I Rise ..she checked the young girl for calling her by her first name as a elder..which is something many in our community know not to do..it's a sign of disrespect..

🖋🖋🖋 To a forever icon and inspiration, Ms, Dr. Maya Angelou. I met you once after dropping my purse on the floor on New Year's Day. When I looked up you made eye contact with me and said Happy New Year with a big smile! My embarrassment left but not the reverence I have for you. Thank you for your big heart and vast contributions in all ways!💜♥🧡 Beloved Pearl Bailey maybe didn't know how to say I'm sorry, but I'm glad she recognized you in the end. Thank you Karine for this video! 💙
