I test MCarbo trigger improvement spring kits in my Stock Marlin Model 60 and my Remington 597 in both stock form and with a Volquartsen target hammer installed. All measurements of trigger weight and targets shot were tested many times but for the sake of time only one representing the average was shown on camera. If you enjoyed this video please give me a like and be sure to subscribe for future channel updates as I plan to put up a new video every week or two. I’m B.C. and welcome to my channel Deuce and Guns!

That M60 mopped the floor with the 597 even with the heavier trigger. I've never picked up a Marlin 60/795 that wasn't a nail-driver.

TheIngoBeck bulk ammo. Try it with CCI MiniMags Blazers or Standard Velocity.

I also have both guns and try to use the right ammo for each one.

I just installed the Mcarbo trigger spring kits in two Marlins- lessened trigger pull by a pound. Have not been to a range yet.

what about adding the MCarbo target trigger in addition to the spring kit? what would that do to the trigger weight?

Very helpful review as I have never heard of MCarbo trigger kits. My old M60 trigger could use some help.

The trigger on my 597 is a dog, but because I live in the UK, I'm looking at 150 us dollars to get the mcabo kit and valquartsen hammer kits!

As always a great video but all that dry firing made me cringe. Do you not worry about damaging the firing pin or chamber on a .22 doing that? Snap caps are so cheap....Now i just might have to upgrade my marlin 60!

The vast majority of modern rimfire rifles have no issues with dry firing. As an example remember that a Ruger 10/22 doesn't have a last round hold-open so most are dry fired on every empty magazine and I've never had nor heard of an issue. Once dry fired look at the edge of the chamber where the firing pin would hit and if it's going to be a problem you'll see a mark where it impacted the face of the chamber. I have a few modern rimfire pistols and one modern rimfire rifle that can't be dry fired due to how it was engineered. Good question. I actually mentioned something about this during filming but it ended up on the cutting room floor due to time. I may do a stand alone video on dry firing at some point.

Just looking at both the spring kit and Volquartsen hammer for my 597. Think I'll get the hammer first by what I see here.. Gonna have to get a spring kit for my Glenfield(Marlin) 60 though. Love that gun. thanks for the video

That's what I'd recommend as well. The Marlin Model 60 is already a fantastic rifle and this spring kit is just like adding a little more butter on top of that biscuit. Eventually, I plan on adding the Volquartsen extractor to the 597. I've been told that may fix my issues with the extended mag so we'll see.

I've never gotten a finger cramp from or had any problem pulling the stock trigger on any of my 22s, and get excellent groups. I guess this is good for competitive shooters, but I'd rather buy more ammo than upgrade my plinker trigger.

would this trigger kit fit a glenfield 75?

Per their website it'll work on the Marlin 75c, Marlin 99, Marlin 99M1, Marlin 80 and Marlin 880.
@MoshPitScury84
@MoshPitScury84 8 лет назад
yea... I'm no expert, but id assume it would work on the 75... 75c 75 60... should be all the same. but no where does it say yes to just a 75.
@deuceandguns

I'd think the same trigger system will be in all of them but like you I'm also no expert in Marlin triggers. Send them an email and ask. If you have the question I'm sure others have as well and this way they can update their info.

lol 6 lbs trigger? I just measured my mod 60 at 9-10lbs..
@deuceandguns
@deuceandguns 8 лет назад
+superswaglord1945 10lb trigger? Was it like that from the factory or is there 30 years of grit stuck in it? I bought an old Sears branded 22 made my Marlin and it's trigger felt like a Mosin Nagant till I cleaned it.
@krossF
@krossF 8 лет назад
+DEUCE AND GUNS haha, yeah I cleaned the grit out of her, smoothed out the moving internals, passed an arkansas stone over the sear and got it down to 5.5lbs laughed like an idiot at cabelas when I tried out the trigger, and got em to drop the price a little. do you honestly think it's worth the 30 bucks? thats pretty damn steep for a bag of springs..
@deuceandguns
@deuceandguns 8 лет назад
***** With the Marlin I'm on the fence. It's a good product and it does exactly what they say it does. honestly, I could shoot my Marlin that well with the factory trigger but the lighter trigger does help limit me as an error factor. If only Volqartsen did for Marlin like they did with the Remington 597 now that combo would be a winner.

+DEUCE AND GUNS There is a guy on Rimfire Central who makes 1-off triggers for Marlin 60/795 rifles. I think he can get a safe 12-13oz trigger but it's a longer take-up and very "2-stage". I never bit on it because my 795 shoots dime size groups at 50-yards with good target ammo like Wolf MT or even some lots of CCI Standard Velocity. We shoot milk jugs with it at 200-yards all of the time with a lot of first round hits.

Your poor poor firing pins... ;)
@jonathanrivera8938
@jonathanrivera8938 7 лет назад
Man, those poor breech faces. I've never seen someone dry fire a rimfire so much. At least use some spent casings or something, man.
@deuceandguns
@deuceandguns 7 лет назад
The firing pins don't reach the breach face in many modern 22 firearms including these.
@jonathanrivera8938
@jonathanrivera8938 7 лет назад
DEUCE AND GUNS If you say so. I did buy a Smith & Wesson SW22 Victory recently and they say to never dry fire in the manual. Further, it's not just the firing pin tip you need to worry about, but also the shoulder of the pin where it contacts the breech block, as well as the extractor. That being said, I've only ever heard of Ruger and Browning OKing dry firing. Further, I've seen no definitive articles verifying what you've said. So until I have a trustworthy source telling me definitively that dry firing a rimfire is absolutely safe or a technical spec showing the firing pin travel ending a few thou before hitting the chamber face, I'll continue using spent shells and drywall anchors to mitigate potential damage. I guess what I'm saying is, show me your source that says it's ok to dry fire, because I'd honestly like to know that it is.
@deuceandguns
@deuceandguns 7 лет назад
My S&W 22A is the same as your Victory and I agree don't dry fire it. As for proof simply take apart your rifles and examine the bolts. Do your own investigation and come up with your own guidelines.
