Hi. You are awesome and your channel is too! I haven’t had plants in about 5 years because of moving/work/blah blah blah. Anyway I just moved again, but my new place has great lighting so I am back in business! I’m an old school plant lover (meaning I’m 51) and the online plant community is new to me. Its so cool! So I stopped at Trader Joe’s today and I found McColley’s Finale. I AM IN LOVE! She looks like Fall. I live in Naples, FL now, but was born and raised in Madison, WI and miss Fall the most (the freezing cold the least lol). Also a shout out to ASU. I went there for my first 2 years of college then transferred to UW. Anyway, Thanks for all the info. I seriously watch you all the time and will continue. Take care.

Hey great question I still struggle with this sometimes a few other things that can contribute is if the plant isnt getting enough light (it may not have the energy to unfurl additionall if the temperature is too hot or cold it may be too stressed I know its super frustrating when that happens I hope this can help!

Hi, thank you for the information about the Prince of Orange. What size of pot do you use in this video and how do you know when should be repotting?

In this video I had it in a 6” pot I find you can push philodendrons pretty far I tend to wait to repot until I either notice a decline in the rate of growth or if when I water and the water instantly falls out of the bottom it can be a good time to repot!

What kind of soil do you use/recommend?

Hey Daniel, for this guy I just have him in a standard potting mix and he seems to be doing great in it. For some of my more finicky plants I will make a custom mix with extra perlite, charcoal and worm castings. Thanks for watching hope that helps!

Hey Megan thanks for watching. Its always a little hard to say without seeing it or knowing what led up, some things that are possible -If you recently fertilized this can cause them to curl if they get hit too hard! -Leaves can curl if they are not getting enough water (you may have noticed a slight bend in mine) try giving more frequent watering's and dont let the soil dry out! - If you also notice browning with the curling this may be a sign of overwatering. Hope this helps a little!

I have this plant(along with many other) and it’s leaves aren’t unfurling! I’ve had it for like 6 months, it’s putting out new leaves but they aren’t opening. It’s like it’s frozen in time. I have increased humidity and light, no help. Even tried repotting. Any suggestions? I manually opened one and it ended up being all dented and deformed. Not sure what to do. I have a lot of other houseplants that are much more difficult to care for and they are all doing great! Has me stumped.

I have had the same problem. I love the looks of the plant but not so much because leaves don't unfurl, so I don't seem to enjoy the great new leaf color as much

Yes! I find the moonlight, black cardinal and these all to be very similar!

Hey, If your plant is a little more mature than mine you might notice an area where it is a bit leggy. This is a great place to take a cutting below a root node (you'll know its a note because it will bulge a little and then be thinner beneath) From there just root the plant like normal and you'll be good to go. I am personally not the best at explaining propagation to people but Amanda over at Planterina does an amazing job if you havent had the chance to watch her videos!

Hi. My philo is leaning to one side, what should I do to make it upright?

kari kari hey Kari, if it’s super severe you can always go on and repot it, you might need a little bit of a bigger pot because you will have to tip the roots a bit sideways. However if it’s just a little crooked I recommend rotating the plant to have the side that’s leaning away face the sun, and it should correct itself. I hope that helps thanks so much for watching 🥰🌿

How do you take care of the leaves? Do you wipe them with wet cloth or spray mist?

Hey Kari, usually once a week I will take a wet microfiber towel and wipe down all my leaves. Then about once a month i go in with half water half lemon juice to get rid of any water marks (our water is very hard here)

@@shikayla So I personally am a chronic underwater and its not uncommon for my plants to get wrinkly. This just means they need a drink. If you can help it its good to water it a little sooner, but they should bounce back no problem!
