One major reason why McDonald's is so successful specifically in today's age is because they have mastered the Drive-Thru. When wagecucks drive home from work (please note the importance of *driving* culture), they are often battered from a long day of hard day of work and also a long drive home. Cooking is the last thing they want to do: And thus the Golden Arches bring comfort and convenience to solving that one great task. Moreover, the actual drive-thru system itself was engineered and mastered by McDonalds; to which every other fast food restaurant has copied thereafter. While I cannot comment on Vietnam, I think it's not a stretch to say it's difficult implant American-style "Fast Food" since it isn't synonymous with South-East Asian consumption habits.
Hi Travis, for the very first time I watched your shows, I enjoyed them very much. I left Vietnam 37 years ago. The last time I went back to visit was in 2003. Which means 22 years now. But after watching your shows, I was impressed by how Vietnam has developed a lot. I wish you all the success in Vietnam! Plz keeps making more videos. I love it! I hope your channel will grow to 2 million subscribers or more. Peace! All the best, Travis! ❤❤
@@TravisTravelsVN100% agreed fast food in Vietnam is different and better than in the States. Chicken is juicier and moist. I had Jollibee and KFC they were also much better. Fast food in the states, the food is old and oily.
@@TravisTravelsVN I only use Butter, ghee, beef tallow, and avocado oil for pan frying at home and I've never deep-fried at home. If I go out I don't ask. Love the vids.
@@brownpunk1794 I think it's because it's cheaper. He mentioned he pays $1-3 to eat locally at any corner restaurant. In the US, if you stop in at any restaurant, it will easily be 3 times as much as fast food. You can go to McDonalds and spend $6-8 for a meal or you can go spend $15-30 any where else. Something needs to be done there. That's a huge cause of obesity in US. If everyone had access to $5-10 for a REAL FOOD meal, then obesity would plummet. He could spend $2 for pho where he is. Here, it's closer to $15.
Great job just sticking to the meals you like vs the gimmicks. Your own Google map guide is a great idea and choosing a non-adventurous meal was very thoughtful. When I was training as a Chef my instructor deducted marks from my menu project because all my items were adventurous without a simple or basic selection. So full marks for you. Cheers
I might eat fast food here in the U.S. twice a year. It's a plainly unhealthy habit. I specifically stopped eating at McDonald's over 30 years ago, because the McDonald's corporation gives money to anti-gun organizations.
Very cool video when we lived in Vietnam in 2009 2010 there were no McDonald’s. There were a ton of KFC and other fast food but no McDonald’s and you’re absolutely right everybody loves eating street food because it’s faster it’s ready it’s fresh and it’s cheap bonus for westerners is it’s healthy, great channel
Fast foods doesn't work in Viet Nam cause you can find freshly made dishes in every corner. But people do like McD's there. It's sort of a novelty, something different.
The secret of McDonalds product is that they not taste much. Somethings that taste like nothing can not taste bad. Think about burgers, fries and so on and the taste. The food has no strong or special taste. The quality is allways the same and consistency is good, but.... In vietnam they have so much tastefull and different options american fastfood isn´t that attractiv for the locals.
Yea cuz american food is trash and most international food are dumbed down quality unless youre in the major tier 1 city like new york or chicago. 90 l% asian food in the states price are ridiculously hiked up and taste nothing genuine. Besides italian, its ridiculous hard to find a good french, german, spanish food. And the sushi in the states for the love of god.
Mcdonalds has never been worse in North America. Food is grotesque, service is horrible, prices are higher than ever. I only go for coffee there as it is the only thing that is not going to kill you.
Some more points that McDonald's failed ( from a Vietnamese perspective) 1. 99.9% of Asians (Mongoloid) never use cheese as ingredient to cook their food. Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai, Cambodian, Laotian....etc 2. McDonald's foods lack spices. 3. More expensive and less appetizing to Vietnamese taste. 4. McDonald's foods are dried foods that's why it's accompanied with soft drinks.
Sitting down at a small restaurant , a shophouse on the street, will get you food in ten minutes. This is still fast food, without the poor nutrion from Amerrican style fast food.
It sounds like you haven't been home to the United States in about 5 years because the price of fast food is more than eating it a good restaurant or cooking yourself😂
