Congrats on your Me Made Made adventures and particularly on your toile toile. I know a lot of people don't think they have time for a toile, but I absolutely find it to be a time- (and fabric- and disappointment-) saver. I usually regret it if I don't make one first.
I've also had some terrible blotchy dye attempts. I blamed it on a washing machine that was too small, but whatever the reason, it has thoroughly put me off trying again. I think you've done such a brilliant job this month learning lessons and trying to revive some garments. They can't all be wins, but at least you can move on from those ones and not have them overflowing your WIP bin. I absolutely love your skirt refashion at the end. That fabric is everything!! So glad that you were able to bring it back. Being able to save those early makes feels really special. Happy June! ❤
I’d had some really good dye results in the past but my new washer doesn’t play I guess. and you too! The solidarity definitely helped me tackle those WIPs.
Totally understand the thoughts on black! I shifted my baseline neutral over towards navy, so while I'll still do black accessories, it is just a smidge less contrast.
Thanks for this and I’m exactly the same with shorts, and I’ve been looking at making some shorts but you’ve reminded me that they just don’t work on me! Love your makes and I like the splotchy dye overalls, but maybe close up it’s not so good 🤷🏽♀️. At least if a refashion goes wrong you haven’t lost much -except your time!
Well done you especially for the toile toile and persisting with your refashioning 😍 I like the ruby overalls as shorts but have my eye on some tailored shorts which is a complete change of vibe for me ! My MMM produced several tricky toiles especially my wrap dungarees 🤯
I had the riding up issue with shorts too. I ended up sewing a small amount of flexible boning to the inseam. I padded it in soft jersey. I never felt it when wearing, but it stopped my shorts from riding up. I think a better option for me is to stick to closer-fitting shorts. I just bought Lee jean shorts from Amazon. They are stretch denim, close fitting, and longer inseam that goes past the part of my thighs that touch. I think your overalls look really neat, even with the patchy dye job. I've only had a good fabric dyeing experience once. All other attempts have been a mess. Thank you for sharing your month of sewing!
@@brimichellemade I didn't put it all the way up to the crotch seam. But now that I look at the shorts, there isn't boning in them, so I don't know if I just imagined that 😂 I have a new baby, so it is possible 😂
@@makeitjoyful Haha baby brain is so real! But I have heard of the boning trick. Maybe I’ll ease in and try some sturdy interfacing and see if that helps…
i don't have any advice to share but i can commiserate that shorts riding up is the worst! i hope you find a solution. i really enjoyed all of your mmm content this month and congrats on all those refashions that are getting new life in your wardrobe.
