We are in our 70’s and retired. What we have discovered is that we are going through food fatigue from eating over and over what we can only afford. We live only from our SS monthly checks, pay the bills and then grocery shop with what’s left. Sad state of affairs.

This is what we're dealing with also. I have a partner who has a TBI and he acts like a toddler about food and doesn't understand the cost of food. I'm pretty much very frustrated with everything. We're on a tiny SS income and I honestly can't afford anything anymore.

I buy 40 pound cases of chicken from a restaurant supplier. $1.63/pound for boneless, skinless breasts. Can't beat the price. I also buy cases of pork tendenderloins. I had a case in the freezer which I thawed and canned last week. Delish! We prefer the canned meat and chicken. I get cases of brown and serve sausage links from there, also.

Nobody is suffering from inflation more than Trudeau. That poor guy had to pay $220,000 for catered airplane food on his Indo-Pacific trip in September. Oh wait.. no, my mistake. It was the taxpayer who footed the bill.

I bought four frozen beef roasts and one chicken. Granted, it is local and delicious. $210.00 (CDN) Told my husband that our meat supply for the year is now taken care of. The roasts were about three pounds each. Sandwich meat, rouladen, stew, soup...they will be stretched to the limit. My freezer is not completely full, but in two weeks, hopefully, we will have salmon to take up that space. I will thaw them out and get it into the jars when I have more time in the early winter, and the heat in the house will be more welcome. Our diet will be changing a bit more towards beans....I saw someone making wraps out of ground-up soaked beans, so that is a great way to get more protein into a person. What's a steak? LOL.

Haven't done it this year as the price of feed to grow them out is crazy. I have my own laying hens so have my own eggs. We eat primarily meat and our grocery bill has actually gone DOWN because of it. (And we're getting healthier in the process. Woohoo!) We buy in bulk from a local trusted farmer and supplement that with a local butcher. I understand that it's difficult for some people to do but it's not impossible. I live in a little town in New Hampshire with a little supermarket in town. About twice a month they advertise meats for a really cheap price. The last time, I got London Broil beef for $4.50 a pound and since the packages were small, I got 6 for $20. I don’t grill, I save them for beef stew, the meat goes goes further that way. I have a small chest freezer that is full of only meat that I got on sale. I need to research canning my meat, I have everything I need.

I buy most of meat on sale as loss leaders. Stock my freezer with those sale meats and then shop my own freezer for variety. I absolutely can’t just go in the store and pick out what sounds good at that moment, prices are just too high. But the sales seem to be on cycles, so I try to buy a fair bit and hope it lasts until it goes on sale again. Thank you for another excellent video. Take care

The following also used the "build back better" slogan - Tony Blair, Hillary Clinton, Marin Sanna, Keir Starmer, Pope Francis, Bill Clinton, Boris Johnson, Barack Obama, Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, King Charles, Prince Harry and the United Nations. Fortunately like most people living up north they do alot of hunting and fishing so meat is not really an expense. We just finished putting in the outdoor garden today. The local supermarket sent me a digital coupon for 85% lean ground beef for $2.99 a pound up to 6 pounds per purchase each day in June. It now comes pre-packed and all the packages weigh just over 3 pounds so I have the cashier ring up each pack individually so the coupon will be valid on every package. Hamburger is sometimes more expensive than roasts on sale. When that's the case, we buy as many as we can afford and grind them. Then pressure can 1/4 to 1/3 pound of meat with the appropriate amount of soaked beans to make a pint. Pork and white beans also make a good combination. Herbs and spices make these meals more interesting. I also can many varieties of dry beans in a myriad of ways. The grain complement to these beans can be rice, millet, quinoa, etc. Keeps mealtime from being too boring. I tried canning meat in half-pint jars for a while, but, since I usually paired them with beans, just skipped a step and processed them together. Toni Yesterday I ordered home delivery again from our local super Walmart and continue to be impressed at how well that works , as long as I order 35.00 worth of items they deliver free. I ordered 2 - 5lb. packs of chicken drumsticks which were approx. 14 pcs. per pack I separated them and repackaged them into about 9 meals and they were 4.98 per 5 lb. bag . I also got a standard 2.25 lb. pack of ground round for just over 10.00 and used my dough cutter to divide into 3 separate meals , Just wanted to point out that it can be reasonable to buy the meat from Walmart if you need to. We have an Sam's close as well and can go in and buy steaks and roast as well at very reasonable cost the very best thing about Sams is the large rotisserie chickens at just 4.98 each which are a fabulous value, and so good . There are so many ways to save money on the grocery bill if we will all plan ahead of shopping and shop accordingly. Anyway thanks for all your great videos and have a great day ! We look forward to you both coming back to Florida someday.
