Such total common sense. Thank you Joel Salatin for having the experience to be able to speak to the issues that have caused these difficulties for the small farmer/producer.

I buy a side of beef every year from a guy I grew up with every year. The meat is fabulous, it isn't pumped full of crap and saves me thousands.

Facts tell, but stories sell. Joel is a really good storyteller. Stories are also more memorable and easier to pass along to others. Joel Salatin is a true ambassador for the local farmer and consumer without any agenda of personal gain.

Real food from real people with direct contact to the animals and what they eat....the current system is all about 'what's in it for me' with a heaping helping of control over the masses.

Yes, a more dispersed network of meat producers would be more sustainable because it is less of a "bottleneck" when a central plant goes down or if the distribution system is bottlenecked. It is more resilient because there are more producers and they have markets they are closer to. Efficiency should not be pounds processed per hour for small farmers because they aren't "mega" producers. The rules for mega producers have to be different than those for a small farm producer. They will do the processing with far less machines than a huge factory taking in semi-trailers full of animals per hour. They are not equivalent systems. The small farmers are on a much smaller scale. They should be able to sell smaller portions of their meats so that it is more affordable to the public. Few people have large freezers or even room for such an appliance to buy whole sides of an animal. I am very hopeful that this "Prime Act" will pass out of committee and become a law. Small farmers should have access to the market!

If Government regulations actually worked, then nobody COULD ever get sick by eating bad food, no house would EVER burn down, and job-related injuries would cease to exist. And yet, all of those happen. Worse yet, regulations are used as a shield, as Mr. Salatin said, to protect the worst offenders of that same regulation. And as weapons to be used by competitors.

Now we talk about Dave Ramsey and getting Americans to understnad they have money if they’d stop paying for the money they don’t have. Pay off debt and put money away. So you “can buy 500 lbs of meat”😂 man I swear listen you don’t need to buy 500 lbs of beef. There are farmers selling smaller than that there are farmers selling larger than that. These guys do not understand. STAND WITH JOEL SALATIN!!!!

We're not just competing between AMERICAN mega producers and custom producers. We are competing with farms and land that are foreign owned. Do we really think China has our health as their top concern?
